Chapter 398: Lucario! Aura!
Smart Strike!!!
The long horn on Excadrill's head was its last line of defense—its only hope of
intercepting Electivire's assault.
However, facing the incoming Smart Strike, Electivire did something completely
unexpected. Instead of meeting the horn head-on, it jerked its flaming fist
upward, positioning it directly above the pinned mole's head.
Then, with both fists ignited into roaring spheres of fire, Electivire hammered
down ruthlessly.
BOOM!!!! —
Electivire's dual-handed "fire hammer" slammed into Excadrill's skull. The
flames detonated upon impact, driving the mole's head into the dirt with enough
force to make the ground bounce.
"Exca-drill..."
The mole let out a final, pained groan before falling limp.
Giving it no room to recover, Electivire followed up with two more Fire Punches
in rapid succession.
After the two heavy strikes landed, Excadrill was completely still. It lay
face-down in the crater, defeated.
"Excadrill is unable to battle!! Electivire wins the round!!"
The referee's arm snapped down, calling the first knockout of the match.
The small crowd of staff members in the gallery gasped. The first Pokémon of the
Elite Four had fallen.
"Return, Excadrill."
Mason Chu raised his Poké Ball, drawing the defeated mole back into its sphere.
His expression remained calm, but there was a sharp, tactical glint in his eyes
as he reached for his third partner.
"Go!! Lucario!"
Mason hurled the ball. A blue-and-black blur hit the field, sliding to a stop in
a sharp combat crouch.
"Aka!!! —"
Lucario let out a short, focused shout, its presence immediately centering the
chaotic energy of the arena.
[Lucario] Gender: Male Level: 97 (Champion) Type: Fighting / Steel Ability:
Inner Focus (Prevents the Pokémon from flinching.) Potential: S-
Lucario. It looked remarkably like a bipedal wolf from ancient myth. It stood
with a regal, warrior-like posture, with sharp spikes protruding from the backs
of its paws and the center of its chest. While its upper body was lean, its
lower body was thick with muscle, granting it explosive burst speed.
Known as the "Aura Pokémon," Lucario was legendary for its ability to sense
"Aura"—the spiritual energy radiated by all living things. It could effectively
"read" an opponent's thoughts and predict their next move before they even made
it.
Kenji's eyes lit up. A Lucario.
The species was a global fan favorite, both in his past life and this one. They
were incredibly rare in Huaxia; one usually had to travel to the most remote,
desolate mountain ranges just for a chance to spot a wild Riolu.
While not officially classified as a Pseudo-Legendary, Lucario enjoyed a similar
status due to the power of Aura. There was even an ancient "Aura Guardian" clan
dedicated to them, though they were based in Europe rather than Huaxia.
Kenji knew that if a Lucario was paired with a trainer who also possessed Aura
abilities, their combined power could easily surpass that of a Pseudo-Legendary.
Currently, one of the Master Eight was a renowned Aura Guardian whose Ace
Lucario was considered a world-class threat.
Mason Chu didn't possess Aura powers himself, but a Level 97 Lucario raised by
an Elite Four member was a nightmare on its own.
"Lucario!! Vacuum Wave!!"
"AKA!!!! —"
Lucario let out a sharp cry and threw a punch into the air. The sheer
displacement of its Fighting-type energy created a compressed wave of air that
shot toward Electivire like a physical blade.
Electivire dashed to the side, dodging the first wave with ease.
But the second wave was already there, arriving exactly where Electivire had
landed.
Electivire dodged again, but as it moved, a third Vacuum Wave was already
whistling through the air, aimed perfectly at its next destination.
Kenji narrowed his eyes. Aura tracking.
Lucario wasn't just aiming at where Electivire was—it was sensing the "Aura" of
the beast's intent and sniping its future position. Against a master of Aura,
traditional evasion was a losing game. It rendered Ninetales's illusions useless
and made high-speed Pokémon like Electivire feel predictable.
"Electivire!! Clear the field with Discharge!!! —"
"ELE-BZZZT!!!! —"
Exasperated by the relentless snipes, Kenji decided to reset the board.
Electivire roared and slammed its fists into the ground. In an instant, the
electrical energy stored in its core erupted in an omnidirectional shockwave.
POP! POP! POP! —
As the tide of electricity swept across the arena, the incoming Vacuum Waves
were intercepted and detonated by the raw power of the discharge.
"Quick Attack!!"
BOOM!!! —
