"Are you sure if I eat this, I'll actually get the power to beat Arlong?" Nami muttered, half in disbelief.
It wasn't that she didn't trust Logan. She just couldn't wrap her head around the idea that a weird little fruit could give someone that kind of strength.
"Of course it's true," Logan said firmly.
Even with a bit of training, the Weather-Weather Fruit could make crushing Arlong as easy as squashing a bug.
"Nami, hurry and eat it. Don't waste the captain's kindness," Makino urged gently.
"Yeah! Once you eat it, you'll be strong enough to protect everyone," she added with a warm smile.
"She's right, Nami! I only got this strong because I ate the Devil Fruit Logan gave me," Kaya chimed in, backing her up.
"Protect everyone…" Nami whispered, her thoughts flashing to her adoptive mother, Bellemere. Her eyes hardened with resolve.
"I'll do it." She took the Weather Fruit and, under everyone's expectant gaze, bit into it.
"…It's sweet."
Her eyes lit up immediately. For something that looked so strange, it tasted surprisingly good.Just like that, her mood lifted.
"Nami, the captain really cares about you," Makino said softly, brushing Nami's hair from her forehead. "You should stop being so harsh on him. I've heard that a Devil Fruit sells for over a hundred million Berries out there."
"…H-how much?"
"One hundred million?!"
Nami froze mid-bite, staring in disbelief. She had already eaten more than half.
A hundred million Berries? That's worth as much as my entire village…
"That's for a normal Devil Fruit," Logan said with a grin. "This one's worth far more—over a billion, easily."
And that was just a conservative estimate. If the big powers in the New World ever found out about this particular fruit, they'd pay whatever it took to get it.
Wind and lightning alone, taken to their limits, could make someone a top-tier fighter.Who wouldn't be tempted?
A billion?!
Nami stood there blankly, her mind spinning.
And then—her eyes started to glisten again.
Logan could see her trying hard not to cry, but the tears were already pooling up.
"You steal for even ten million Berries, and now you expect me to believe this?" she muttered, blinking furiously, wiping her tears away before they could fall.
"I don't believe you… you're definitely lying. You always say things like this." She forced a laugh, trying to act calm as she took another bite.
But when she swallowed the last piece—she couldn't hold it anymore.
"Waaahhh…"
This bastard Logan… why is he so nice to me?!
For eight years, no one had ever made her feel this way.
Then his voice came, light and gentle."Nami, it's just a Devil Fruit. To me, you're priceless. You deserve it."
Nami's tears streamed down as she swung her fist at his chest."Idiot… stop making me cry, damn it."
Kaya and Makino both laughed softly.
Logan caught her small fist and pulled her into his arms, wiping away the tears from the corner of her eyes.
"Alright," he said softly. "Now focus. Feel that power flowing inside you."
Nami nodded obediently.
"The fruit you just ate is called the Weather-Weather Fruit. You're familiar with weather, right?"
"There are a lot of elements in it, but I suggest you start with three: wind, thunder, and clouds."
Wind and thunder were for offense.Clouds, for defense.
Two for attack, one for defense.
That was Logan's plan—to train Nami into a real fighter.
Because on the seas ahead, they'd face enemies far stronger than Arlong.Combat members were essential, and among his envisioned team, Nami would be one of his key female fighters.
"Got it. I'll do as you say."
Even as she spoke, Nami could feel the energy bubbling inside her—the forces of wind, rain, thunder, lightning, cloud, snow, and mist swirling together.
She could sense them all, ready to obey her will.
"Nami, try using lightning first."
"Watch this!" Nami grinned, her eyes sparkling.
"Thunder Strike!"
With a sharp cry, silver bolts of lightning blasted down onto the sea a few dozen meters ahead, exploding with a roar and sending waves surging high into the air.
"Whoa! Nami-sis, that's amazing!" Kaya clapped her hands in awe.
"Storm!"
Without pausing, Nami swept her hand forward, unleashing a spiral of wind that tore across the sea, raising waves several meters tall.
"Cloud Wall!""Century Snow!""Rain Arrows!"
One after another, Nami unleashed weather techniques, each more dazzling than the last.
Of course, these were the basics—abilities anyone would get right after eating the fruit. That first "Thunder Strike" looked impressive, but it was really just a cluster of small bolts. The same went for the rest.
Still, with more training, their power would grow exponentially.
After showing off every weather move she could think of, Nami just stood there, dazed.
In her heart, Arlong had always been the strongest. But that was… before.
As a navigator, she knew better than anyone the destructive force of natural disasters—storms, thunder, lightning—forces no living being could resist. Not even Arlong.
And now, she could control them.
All thanks to Logan.
A few golden tears fell again as she clutched her chest.
"Logan… you're too good to me…" she sobbed, throwing her arms around him.
Now she truly believed him—this Devil Fruit really was worth more than a billion Berries.
"Careful, you'll ruin that pretty face if you keep crying," Loganteased gently.
He could feel it—something inside Nami had changed.
"You're such a jerk," she sniffed, glaring up at him. "You've made me cry like, three times today."
Logan chuckled. "Come on, I just gave you a Devil Fruit worth over a billion. How are you gonna thank me for that?"
Nami's lips curled into a mischievous smile."Fine then… since you've been so generous, I'll let you enjoy yourself to your heart's content today!"
She spread her arms and closed her eyes, waiting.
"....."
