Dahlia's POV

I gave a small nod and studied Diane's face, watching as confusion and terror battled in her expression.

She stood frozen, her dark eyes swimming with unshed tears. Her arms wrapped tightly around herself in a protective gesture that made my chest ache. The raw vulnerability etched across her features spoke of a world suddenly turned upside down.

"Dahlia, she's my best friend," Diane whispered, her voice barely audible.

I remained silent, letting her process the betrayal.

"How could she possibly hurt me like this?"

The words cracked as they left her lips. Diane's knees buckled and she sank to the floor, her entire body shaking. The color had drained from her face, leaving behind a ghostly pallor that made her look fragile enough to shatter.

Her fist pressed against her chest, as if trying to physically push away the anguish that had settled there like a weight. In that moment, she looked utterly abandoned by everyone she'd ever trusted.
