Dahlia's POV
I brought Christina back to the house, her nervous energy practically radiating off her as we walked through the front door.
Selina glanced up from her magazine, surprise flickering across her features when she spotted me. Her eyes immediately searched the space behind me. "Where's Soren? I thought he was coming back with you today." She paused, taking in Christina's presence. "And who's this?"
"Mom, meet Christina Denzel. She's my new assistant and will be staying with us for a while," I explained, keeping my voice steady despite the weight of everything I was hiding.
Selina's eyebrows shot up. "Your assistant? Since when do you have assistants staying over?"
Before I could respond, Diane burst from the kitchen, wooden spoon still in hand and flour dusting her apron. "Dahlia! You're finally home! Where's Soren hiding? I made his favorite lamb stew."
