Dahlia's POV
After sliding into the backseat, I quickly typed out a message to Emilio. I needed him to know I wasn't home, both to ease his worry and for safety reasons. Even though Dick posed no direct threat to me, caution remained my closest ally.
The question that plagued my mind was simple yet complex. Why had I, Lorena, Bill, and Dick all become targets for this shadowy puppet master? Was this person so desperate after their initial failure that they were launching a second offensive?
Bill had been certain someone in his inner circle was poisoning his food daily. At the Sanford estate, only a handful of people had that level of access. Chloe topped the list of suspects, though I struggled to picture the woman having the spine to commit murder, especially against someone who posed no real threat to her position.
