Soren's burning touch seared through his elegant fingers, each knuckle defined and commanding against my skin.
I tilted my head back with deliberate defiance, meeting those piercing eyes that seemed to see straight through me.
His gaze held depths that reminded me of an ancient glacier, cold enough to freeze blood in veins. The chill radiating from those dark pools made my spine straighten involuntarily.
If not for the weight of dozens of stares pressing down on us from every corner of the room, I might have believed his performance was genuine affection rather than calculated theater.
But his reaction told me everything. He had definitely overheard my conversation with Christina moments earlier.
