In the central city, crowds transport, whether by walking and driving. It's in the morning of the day, which means the start of every activity—stores opening, citizens going to work, some doing their fitness routines, and women or mothers buying kitchen needs with their family or themselves. It's very crowded yet peaceful.
"Mr. Friedrich, have you considered this decision genuinely? Are you sure that boy-"
"It's fine, dear Advisor. There's no need to think of it. It's all planned out perfectly." Friedrich cuts the thoughtful yet full worry man who sits beside him.
In a moving car, there's a conversation running between a defense minister and his advisor. Both of them dressed neatly in suits just how officials should. Mr. Friedrich was writing on a clipboarded paper; he wrote scrambled but meaningful words in a hurry on it. Even so, their vehicle isn't escorted by police nor military.
"Providing them a livable residence is not a bad deal for the boy named Felix to join the military." Friedrich said eloquently.
"But still, he's underage. He also has no experience in the battlefield at all to the best of our intelligence knowledge." The advisor still tried to convince him.
Friedrich gave a faint yet evil smile. "In fact, he and his sister are the only people to ever have seen the outside world and survived. You know that he's known as the child prodigy, right?"
The advisor gave an uncertain nod.
"However, he has nowhere to live. Hence, he will be a useful puppet of ours." Friedrich said, then the advisor tried to reply, but he cut it out. "Can't you see the opportunities? He's a genius and will follow our command no matter what. After lots of training, I believe he will be the strongest candidate."
The advisor gave an agreement look, but there's still a hint of objection. "But you can't deny the fact that he is an underage boy."
Mr. Friedrich sighed. "Can you show me the latest data of the Chronicles' attack?"
"Uhh, uhmm…." The advisor took out a tablet and searched for the data. "According to the data, the Chronicles' has decreased for the previous 10 months. Each month, it decreased for an average of 7%." He explains the details.
Friedrich continues on writing. "That is very suspicious, isn't it? We have no idea of what's coming next. So, breaking the rules for the sake of the Aryan is what matters. My intuition says: We need him, Felix Montclair, as our only hope." He said as he placed the pen down.
The advisor clears his throat. He swallowed back his disagreement.
The morning air after-rain smells earthy. The sunlight rays through the curtains of Felix and Seren's now home.
Seren's sound echoed, and Felix felt that she's shaking his shoulder lightly. He began to open his eyes as he scanned around the room. He rubs his eyes and sees Seren standing; waking him.
"Wake up, you sleepy-head." She growls.
"Huh?" Felix cluelessly replied and yawned. "What?"
"Prepare yourself, dear Brother! We will have to go to the market, pick Théo from the vet, and we will do chores as we get home!" Seren energetically said.
Oh! Théo, I completely have forgotten about him, haha.
Felix rubs his eyes. "Now?"
"Of course!" Seren tries to pull Felix out of the bed. "C'mon, hurry up! The morning is the perfect time to do so."
"Yeah, yeah." Felix sat for a while and then got up. "I'll use the bathroom first."
At the bathroom, Felix flushed down the toilet and then went to the sink—just beside it. He washes his hands and continues to his face right after. He rested his palms on the sink edge; he stared at the mirror in front of him—viewing his face, and let out a sigh. However, he shook his head and wiped his face with a white towel.
As he walks out of the bathroom, there's Seren, a subtle scent coming from her hair, and her appearance looks much more 'glowing' than before. However, there's a visible bulge on her baggy-pants pocket
"You've taken a shower, haven't you?"
"Yup, unlike you, who haven't changed clothes for such a long time." Seren teases.
Felix got irritated. "Aren't you the same?"
"Uhmm, yeah…. But I have taken a shower and you didn't. …That's why. We will be purchasing some fabrics to wear!"
"Okay, how much money are we gonna bring?" Felix asked.
Seren ponders. "We will buy a lot. So I brought like… 1000 Reichmark in my pocket!"
Damn, that's a lot. I can't let her get the responsibilities.
"Hand it to me."
"Ehh?" Seren reaches for her pocket. "Fine…" She gave Felix a handful of 10 Reichmark bills . It surprisingly fits in her pocket.
This wouldn't fit in my pocket…. Felix thought as he grabbed the money.
"Let's go." Felix said.
"Ohh, okay."
At the front door, he grabbed the longcoat from the coat hanger. He wore the longcoat whilst grabbing the money, and then he smuggled it in the pocket.
"Woah, it fits you perfectly!"
"I guess you could say that…." Felix pulled the collar.
They went outside. As they close the door, "Hello there!" Aunt Helga suddenly greets them in English.
They both turned around, Seren waved, and Felix slightly bows with his right palm on his chest. They approach her.
"Where are you 2 sweethearts going to?" Aunt Helga said warmly.
"We're heading to the market, Aunt Schmidt." Seren replies in English sweetly with a big smile on her face.
Aunt Helga giggles. "I see."
"Then, excuse us." Felix said in German and put on a smile
They both walked off and left the aunt who was giving a smile as she continued to set the promotional banner in front of her bakery shop.
