"Are you new to Rhodes Island?" Kanna felt that the other person looked somewhat familiar, but it was indeed quite difficult to recognize someone when transitioning from a two-dimensional character to reality unless their appearance was particularly striking, or if one knew their codename.
"Yes, my name is Melantha, and I'm from Victoria. Because of my illness, my father contacted Dr. Grace. This morning, I took Rhodes Island's shuttle landship, and the people inside brought me here. However, Dr. Grace had something urgent and left temporarily, so I'm waiting here." Perhaps because Kanna was young and looked reassuring, Melantha naturally shared her situation.
So it was Sword Saint Melantha, Kanna realized with an enlightened expression.
Melantha came from Victoria, and her background was that of a rich Feline. Whisperain was a noble from Victoria. So, it was normal for Melantha, after contracting oripathy, to seek out Whisperain, a doctor at Rhodes Island who specialized in treating oripathy.
Knowing the other person's identity, Kanna moved closer. The Felines in Arknights had two particularly prominent attributes among Operators: one was being rich, like Melantha and Jessica, and the other was having a tragic background, like Ch'en Alter and Rosmontis.
If the latter was more endearing, then the former was the best choice for clinging to.
Who could refuse to be friends with a rich Feline?
Kanna pulled out a copy of "Victoria Royal Guard School: A School History" and asked Melantha about the school.
"The Victoria Royal Guard School is a great school, and the swordsmanship I learned came from there. But it's a pity, I wasn't old enough before, and now I've contracted oripathy, so I no longer have a connection with the school." After seeing the book, although a hint of sadness flashed in Melantha's eyes, it was clear that as she spoke, she herself let go of the matter that made her sad.
Noticing Melantha's change, Kanna swapped to another Victoria-related book and continued to ask questions.
Melantha took it and saw that it was a Victoria geography popular science magazine. The book introduced many specialties of Victoria, and what made her feel particularly close was that in this book, there happened to be an introduction to Victoria's perfumes, and it specifically mentioned her family.
After seeing this book, Melantha's mood improved greatly. She picked up the magazine and began to introduce its contents to Kanna.
Just as the two were chatting happily, the door opened again, and Whisperain walked in from outside.
Seeing Kanna and Melantha chatting animatedly inside, she let out a sigh of relief.
In the past few days, many new patients had entered Rhodes Island, and the Medical Department was under great pressure. Today, she had been busy from morning until noon without a break. She had originally intended to come back for Kanna's study time, but she had several surgeries in the afternoon and couldn't leave. So she came back to let Kanna review on her own. On the way, she saw a message that a patient who had contacted her before had been sent to Rhodes Island by her father and had not yet been arranged. She felt a headache; Rhodes Island was so big, what if the patient got lost?
Just as she was feeling annoyed, she pushed open the door and saw Kanna chatting with a girl, and that girl was the newly arrived patient.
Whisperain patted her chest. Fortunately, she had seen the other person's photo before, so she recognized her at a glance. It was also fortunate that the other person had stayed in her office, otherwise, if the news of losing a patient reached Kal'tsit, even if Kal'tsit could successfully find the patient, she would probably bear a considerable responsibility.
Upon seeing Whisperain enter, Melantha immediately stood up and greeted her cautiously.
Whisperain waved her hand.
"No need to be so polite. Your father already informed me about your situation. However, I still have several surgeries this afternoon and genuinely don't have much free time. How about this, Kanna, you take her to the Human Resources Department to register, then go get her physical examination done, and then make a copy of the report and send it to me. I'll look at it when I have time tonight. Kanna, please help look after Miss Melantha this afternoon. I'll bring you some delicious dessert tomorrow."
After speaking, thinking of the several surgeries ahead, she rushed out of the room again.
Watching Whisperain disappear at the door, Melantha reached out, trying to keep her.
She had originally thought that after meeting, they would have afternoon tea together, exchange pleasantries, and then under the other party's guidance, smoothly complete the tests and be admitted. But she hadn't expected the script to deviate from her plans from the very beginning.
Next to her, Kanna patted her bottom, accustomed to the situation. Rhodes Island's Medical Department was no easy job; the time she managed to squeeze out for teaching was the result of other colleagues sharing the pressure.
Many people had boarded the landship again these past few days, and the Medical Department's pressure had increased significantly, naturally reducing their free time.
"Let's go! I'll take you to the Human Resources Department to check in." Since there was work to do and no need to study, Kanna deftly tossed the book in her small hand under the table and then stood up.
Looking at the young Kanna, Melantha was a little worried that such a small person might not be very reliable. Kanna, seeing the somewhat hesitant Melantha at the door, patted her chest.
"Don't worry, Big Sister Melantha,
No one,
Understands,
Rhodes Island,
Better than me."
Seeing the other person preparing to take her luggage, Kanna waved her hand, "The Human Resources Department is in the upper district; carrying luggage will be inconvenient. Besides, we still need to go to the Medical Department for a physical examination later, and it will be difficult to move around with so much luggage in such a crowded place. Just leave it here for now. Besides Whisperain, or rather, Teacher Grace, only I usually come in here. It's much safer here than carrying it with you."
Hearing Kanna's words, Melantha nodded, then took out a small shoulder bag from her luggage pile and put it on, then followed Kanna out of the office.
Under Kanna's guidance, the two arrived at the Human Resources Department's entrance after several twists and turns. Along the way, Melantha also observed that although it seemed like a slight detour, it avoided the busiest main thoroughfare, reducing the crowd and allowing them to advance much more efficiently.
This proved that Kanna's claim of being very familiar with Rhodes Island's internal structure was not a lie.
Upon entering, Kanna waved to the Lizardman inside.
"Wow! It's Lizard Uncle! Sister Melantha, you're lucky. Although Lizard Uncle looks scary, he's actually a good person!"
The 12F staff member, seeing Kanna, smiled and said, "Well, if it isn't little Kanna. Shouldn't you be studying at this time? What brings you here?"
"The Medical Department is a bit busy today. Whisperain told me to bring a new person to report. Here she is, Sister Melantha." Kanna confidently led Melantha into the Human Resources Department.
