As the group chatted and waited for their meals, the main door opened again, and various food ingredients were brought in through the door and delivered to the back kitchen.
Just as Melantha was wondering why so many ingredients suddenly arrived, Cerberus suddenly jumped up from her stool, looking down at Kanna.
"Kanna-chan! I lost to you in the last food battle, and I'm not convinced! I challenge you again!"
Hearing Cerberus's words, Sister Vulcan held her forehead. "Sigh~ I knew it would come to this."
"What?" Melantha was completely bewildered. Although she understood Cerberus's words, what on earth was a food battle? Throwing food at each other? Did Rhodes Island allow such extravagance and waste?
"Oh, oh! Cerberus, your challenge is pale and weak, all your efforts are futile! However, given that you are the only warrior brave enough to challenge me, I grant you this glorious opportunity for a challenge!" Kanna covered her left eye with her left hand and spoke in a deliberately low voice.
Amidst the "tense" atmosphere, the kitchen door opened, and plates of food were sent to the "battlefield."
Then, to Melantha's utterly dumbfounded expression throughout, plate after plate of food was delivered into their mouths as if on a conveyor belt.
"Sigh~ It was like this last time. They happened to run into each other at mealtime, and that day they not only ate all the food in one entire canteen, but also completely devoured the ingredients that were urgently sent as support from the neighboring canteen."
Knowing the "duel" was inevitable, Sister Vulcan had no choice but to move aside, making their competition seem smoother. At this point, she was glad that most of the food went into Kanna's mouth. So, although the plates in front of the two were stacked exaggeratedly high, Cerberus's appetite was actually less than a tenth of Kanna's.
Sure enough, in less than ten minutes, Cerberus, with a large piece of beef in her mouth, collapsed onto the stool, unable to swallow any more. On the other side, Kanna was still unhurriedly "pouring" food into her mouth.
Another half an hour passed. Kanna elegantly wiped the remnants from the corner of her mouth with a tissue, looking at the empty opponent's seat, which Sister Vulcan had long since carried away, with a sense of solitary invincibility.
Melantha, who had been worried earlier that she didn't bring enough money, was reassured by Rosmontis, who told her that Kanna didn't pay for canteen food. This finally put Melantha at ease.
The moment Melantha walked out of the restaurant, she felt a significant lightness. Just as she was about to bid farewell to the two and go back to calm her tumultuous emotions, she heard Kanna say she was going to the sanatorium courtyard with Rosmontis.
She had heard Kanna mention on the way that the girl who tried to make sachets was the person in charge of the sanatorium courtyard. So she swallowed the farewell she was about to say and followed the two to the Greenhouse.
Upon entering, Lena was watering flowers not far away. Seeing Kanna and the two, she waved, gesturing for them to go play in the small hut. As for the newcomer behind Kanna, although she only glanced at her, she seemed to be a very well-mannered girl, so Lena didn't ask any questions.
Melantha, after observing the garden, nodded secretly. Although the area was not large, it was rich in flower varieties, mostly plants that soothe the mind. It was clear that the owner here was also quite proficient in floriculture.
She gently sniffed the fragrance in the air, elegant and not muddled, which deepened her good impression. She decided that she must have a good chat with Miss Lena later.
Walking into the small hut, Melantha casually picked up a plant magazine from the bookshelf and quietly began to flip through it. Kanna and Rosmontis, not being particularly boisterous children themselves, lay there, each picking up a comic book and becoming engrossed. The entire hut, apart from the rustling sound of turning pages, fell into tranquility once more.
Soon after, Lena walked in, her forehead glistening with fine sweat.
Melantha closed the book in her hand and greeted her politely.
Kanna took the opportunity to introduce her, and Lena was very happy to learn that the other party came from a perfumery family in Victoria and was particularly skilled in the art of using fragrances.
She took out a notebook and pulled Melantha aside to ask for advice. Melantha, having constantly felt a good impression of Lena's sanatorium courtyard since entering, did not hold back. She reviewed her own experiences while offering her insights to Lena.
The two were like Bo Ya meeting Zhong Ziqi; their friendship quickly warmed in their exchange, causing Kanna, who was reading comic books nearby, to unconsciously scoot over a bit.
After watching for a while longer, Kanna felt her eyelids starting to droop. Looking at Rosmontis beside her, her head was nodding, as if she would fall asleep any second.
She had originally intended to bid farewell to Lena and Melantha, but seeing the two deeply engrossed, she quietly pulled the drowsy Rosmontis and, without disturbing the still-conversing duo, walked out of the Greenhouse.
After taking the nearly sleeping Rosmontis back to her room, Kanna yawned and returned to her own room.
The next morning, Kanna woke up and went to the restaurant for breakfast as usual. However, as soon as she entered, she saw Lena and Melantha sitting not far away. The food in front of them hadn't been touched yet, but their conversation still hadn't stopped.
Kanna could only say that such a problem was too complex for a young cub like her to solve.
After leaving, she met Amiya, who was passing by. Amiya was struggling with how to carry such a large pile of documents back to the Control Room when she saw Kanna emerging from the cafeteria. She didn't hesitate to grab Kanna to help, and the two of them, each carrying a large stack of documents, arrived at their destination amidst a chorus of greetings.
"I heard you skipped class yesterday afternoon and almost caused trouble at the medical examination center?" Kal'tsit's voice came from behind the desk.
"How can you say I skipped class... It was clearly Sister Whisperain's surgical schedule that was too full, she herself wasn't free. And I wasn't playing either, wasn't I bringing a new person to join?" Kanna looked up defiantly in Kal'tsit's direction.
"You have the nerve to say that. The person clearly came to Rhodes Island through proper procedures to treat her oripathy, but you took her to the Operator Recruitment Office and even fooled that good-natured 12F. If Sister Whisperain hadn't asked me about her new patient's condition and I hadn't checked, I wouldn't have known she had already become an Operator of Rhodes Island."
Speaking of which, Kal'tsit also had a headache. The new Operator sources for Rhodes Island were basically of two types: one was talent recommended by other Operators, who themselves agreed and were willing to join Rhodes Island; the other was patients residing on Rhodes Island with certain specialties, who, after recognizing Rhodes Island's philosophy, actively applied to the Human Resources Department, and after evaluation, the Human Resources Department would promote them as Reserve Operators.
Logically speaking, as an Elite Operator, Kanna had the right to recommend personnel to become Rhodes Island Operators, but in reality, she was too young, and neither the Human Resources Department nor Kal'tsit expected a child with limited experience to recommend outstanding talent.
