Chapter 84 - Chapter 83: Terra Is Not Beautiful

Hearing the medical Operator's words, Kanna puffed out her chest, put her hands on her hips, looking like she was waiting for praise. = = >

But Outcast slapped her on the back of the head, and she obediently sat back in the car.

After a few words with the medical Operator, the tearful woman followed closely behind the team, asking the Operator to take the young man to the medical vehicle. He was too weak, and if they wanted to avoid sequelae, it was best for him to be cared for by professional medical personnel.

Just as the convoy was about to continue, a man broke free from the crowd and ran to the front of the car. He knelt before the car, asking Kanna if she had seen his daughter.

Hearing his words, Kanna's eyes darkened, and she lowered her head, shrinking back into herself.

Seeing Kanna's reaction, the man's eyes lost their luster, because he understood. And precisely because he understood, he instantly felt a wave of dizziness and despair.

He was supported by an Operator beside him just as he was about to collapse.

As the Operator led him back to the team, Kanna's voice came, "I'm sorry, I was too late, but all the culprits have paid the price they deserved."

Hearing Kanna's words, the man opened his mouth, tears streaming down his cheeks. He cried heartbreakingly, yet no sound came out, making everyone who saw him turn their heads away.

After a while, he recovered. He bowed deeply towards Kanna's position, then walked back into the team like a puppet… Although this man was still alive, his heart had already died. However, there were too many such tragedies on this land, and everyone had become numb to them.

After everyone got back into the cars, the convoy slowly started moving again.

"Tell me, what happened with that girl?"

Outcast held Kanna in her arms. She hadn't spoken earlier, but a question had lingered in her mind: if the girl had simply died in the manor, Kanna shouldn't have had that expression.

"According to the information I got from the manor, that girl was beaten to death with a whip and hung outside the door by that guy's son because she refused to submit to him."

Kanna's voice was calm, but it gave a chilling sensation.

"Then that guy minced the girl into meat and made it into soup, which he sent to the mining area…"

"Crack!" came a sound.

The Operator beside her, who was recording Kanna's experiences and information, had just snapped his pen in half.

Outcast's grip on Kanna tightened slightly, and she asked in a very calm tone, "I trust that with your temper, you wouldn't let that family off, would you?"

"Of course not. How could I easily let such scum go? Everyone in the manor is dead, except for that Baron's son and wife… As for those two, I crushed a pure originium above their heads. They inhaled a belly full of pure originium powder, so they should have become severely Infected, right?"

Initially, hearing that Kanna had let the two main culprits go, everyone was a bit puzzled, but after hearing Kanna's words, everyone felt a sense of relief.

On the land of Terra, death is not terrifying; living a life worse than death is. And becoming Infected, especially severely Infected, is truly a life worse than death.

Because mildly Infected can still be saved, but severely Infected are actually only one step away from death. Moreover, Infected people crystallize and explode after death, so a severely Infected person is a living and extremely unstable human bomb.

For this type of person, even Rhodes Island, whose main task is to aid the Infected, finds it very difficult to handle, let alone the outside world that changes color at the mention of the Infected.

Just like Baron Colin, who lay dismembered and barely alive, Kanna didn't directly kill him, but instead made him endure more pain and torment than a direct death.

"It's easy to kill these guys, but I think such an easy death is too good for them." Not knowing that Baron Colin had already been shot by Outcast, Kanna complained as she looked out the window.

"Well said, and well done! It was Grandma who overthought things." Outcast gently stroked Kanna's hair, following her gaze out the window, and couldn't help but exclaim.

They naturally wouldn't bring so many people into the town, and the town wasn't too far from the manor. They would surely receive news of the manor's attack soon, so bringing these people to town at this time would be like walking into a trap.

So the convoy quickly split into two parts. Some people who had shown their faces earlier headed towards the town, while several teams that had been following the convoy without appearing, took the rescued people towards Rhodes Island.

Considering there were many people here, and Kanna hadn't shown her face in town before, Outcast assigned her to the other team.

"To avoid suspicion, we will stay in town for a few more days. You must be obedient and not run around. I'm entrusting this team to J.A. I will contact Rhodes Island when I return and have them send people to assist. If there's danger on the way, feel free to let Kanna handle it. I believe she can resolve any trouble."

After giving a final admonition, Outcast spoke to J.A., the temporary leader of the other team and a Medical Operator.

Kanna nodded, then patted her chest loudly, "Don't worry, Grandma, I will protect everyone well."

When the convoy split, there was an inevitable commotion, but J.A. easily quelled it.

After leaving Outcast's embrace, Kanna, with J.A.'s approval, nimbly jumped onto the roof of the vehicle, acting as the convoy's observer.

As for why J.A. trusted Kanna with external observation, she had heard from Scout at Rhodes Island that Kanna's long-range vision was unmatched at Rhodes Island. She was a natural talent for lookout and sniper, and he had always wanted to take Kanna as his disciple, but unfortunately, he couldn't get past Kal'tsit and Outcast.

She wouldn't easily underestimate someone even Scout praised. Moreover, even if she hadn't known Kanna's combat ability before, after witnessing her single-handedly wipe out Baron Colin's fully armed regular army, only a fool would still look down on her.

However, with such a major incident, news quickly spread throughout Victoria, and this massive convoy carrying thousands of miners naturally attracted the attention of the border guards.

At the hint of a certain Duke, a border guard unit rushed towards the convoy.

Before the border guards arrived, Kal'tsit, who had received the news in advance, contacted J.A.'s group via emergency radio.

"What should we do? The border guards are less than fifty kilometers away. With so many of us, we can't hide our tracks and will be caught up to soon." Upon receiving the news, J.A. immediately gathered the Operators of the team.

"If we can't hide and can't escape, then there's only fighting?" someone said.
