"She's alone," a subordinate walked to Colin and whispered.
Colin's face turned cold upon hearing this news. He made a gesture with his hand behind his back, instructing the snipers to eliminate this suddenly appearing child.
Upon receiving the order, several snipers quietly hid behind the crowd, their crossbows aimed through the gaps at the girl sitting in the middle of the road.
Although Colin and his group thought they were being very discreet, Kanna saw everything clearly.
She leaned against the tree branch with her arms crossed, seemingly unguarded, but in reality, everything was under her control.
"Little girl, we have an emergency, could you please move aside?" After his subordinates were ready, Colin cunningly spoke, trying to divert Kanna's attention entirely to himself.
Just as his words were about to fade, several cold arrows shot abruptly from behind him towards Kanna.
If it were an ordinary person, they would likely be contemplating how to respond at this moment, naturally being a beat slower in defending and then getting hit by the cold arrows.
Unfortunately, they encountered Kanna, a completely unreasonable young one with combat power that reached the heavens.
Just as a smile appeared on Colin's lips, several claps of thunder suddenly rang out from the ground.
They saw the arrows, which were about to strike Kanna, being struck down by a sudden burst of lightning right before their eyes.
"Ah, this! So, no talking it out?"
As Colin and his group fell into shock, Kanna spread her hands and shrugged slightly, as if batting away the sudden cold arrows was just a trivial matter to her.
Feeling something was amiss, a few drops of cold sweat appeared on Colin's forehead.
"I didn't do it, it was all my subordinates acting on their own. I'll definitely reprimand them thoroughly when I get back. Um, little one, why don't you tell us what exactly it will take for us to pass?" At this point, Colin still believed Kanna was young and tried to casually bluff his way through.
"Want to pass? It's simple… I never said you couldn't pass! It's just that people can pass, but their lives must stay here!" Kanna jumped down from the tree trunk, saying this with a hint of mockery in a very calm tone.
Upon hearing Kanna's words, Baron Colin's face immediately darkened, as if it was about to drip water. "Hmph! You're playing with me, aren't you! You're asking for death!"
With his command, several arrows once again flew towards Kanna, and then the soldiers, armed with weapons, charged towards Kanna's position.
"Hmm hmm hmm! That move was good, it looked quite cool. I'll call it 'Aegis of Arrows.' I must add it to my profile when I get back this time."
Seeing the enemies charging, Kanna was not in a hurry. Several more lightning bolts flashed, striking down the incoming arrows one after another.
As the opponents paused slightly due to the sudden lightning, Kanna pushed off the ground with her back foot, and a huge pit instantly appeared on the flat ground.
Using this force, Kanna shot towards the convoy like a meteor.
Before the two people at the very front could react, Kanna darted in front of them, scooped up their feet with both hands, and directly swung the two people around.
Accompanied by screams, the two lucky individuals were hurled by Kanna towards their teammates behind them, also conveniently blocking most of the incoming arrows for Kanna.
Kanna, however, did not stop. Her entire body slammed into the front of the first car, and with a surge of power, the entire vehicle was suddenly struck with immense force, causing it to rapidly retreat backward and crash into the people and vehicles behind it.
Thus, car after car, from front to back, crashed into each other all the way to the end of the convoy. Many lucky individuals hiding in the gaps between cars were instantly and painlessly taken away.
Colin scrambled to his feet, disheveled. Kanna's sudden attack had greatly exceeded his expectations. His subordinates were elites who could contend with some army groups, yet in a single move, some were killed or wounded. Crucially, his meticulously built off-road vehicle convoy was also reduced to Wu You in an instant.
At this moment, he no longer cared about how much money he lost from the destruction of so many cars. Having witnessed the power of the higher echelons, he understood that this "child" in front of him was a true monster.
Seeing the crackling lightning appearing around her, he suddenly remembered the towering white pillar of light from his manor.
"You've been to my manor?" At this moment, he couldn't help but ask.
Kanna's hand wielded a several-meter-long "laser sword," reinforced by Palm Thunder, which lightly swung forward. Enemies touched by it were instantly sliced in two.
Some soldiers who were cut in half let out tragic wails before they lost consciousness.
"Oh! You saw that! Hehe, I did it!" Kanna casually used Palm Thunder to dispatch the guards around him, then walked up to him and said with a smile.
Although Kanna appeared to be smiling, Colin clearly saw that there was not a single ripple in the young girl's eyes. Her silver vertical pupils were like those of a god in the heavens, looking down upon earthly life, cold and heartless.
"Monster!" Knowing he couldn't escape, Colin cursed at Kanna.
"Monster? Perhaps. But in the eyes of the monster before you, ordinary people and the Infected are all the same. And in your eyes, what are the Infected? Slaves or beasts?"
Kanna didn't feel like explaining anything more to this kind of trash. She didn't know how the youth in the car was doing, so she planned to quickly deal with these people and then take the youth to rendezvous with Outcast.
"Infected? Heh heh haha… It's actually for those trashy Infected! The reason for my Colin family's demise is these Infected who should have been eradicated from this world long ago! Hahahahahahaha…"
Upon hearing Kanna's words, Colin burst into a neurotic laugh, his face covered in snot and tears, looking disgusting and ugly.
"Demise? Well, I'll tell you one last piece of news… If you're talking about your son and wife, they're not dead, you know! But after breathing in the dust produced by an entire pure originium in a sealed environment, they should now have become those Infected you said should have been eradicated long ago, right…?"
Kanna wouldn't let this kind of person die so easily. Even before death, she wouldn't allow him a moment of comfort.
After speaking, Kanna waved her hand, and instantly Colin's hands and feet were severed at the root by an electric blade. Although the high temperature charred and clotted many major blood vessels, a considerable amount of blood still gushed out.
He was doomed, and what made him even more despairing was that he wouldn't die anytime soon. Thinking of his family also becoming Infected, even if there was still some property left in the household, it would likely soon be divided and devoured by the surrounding nobles. His relatives wouldn't be willing to take in two useless wastes, and by then, there would only be two destitute Infected on the land.
At this moment, his eyes were filled with regret and hatred—hatred for this damned world, hatred for this suddenly appearing young girl, and hatred for himself for not having climbed higher… Chapter 89, Chapter 83: Rendezvous.
After Baron Colin was chopped into a human stick by Kanna, his subordinates instantly disintegrated. Watching the scattered crowd, Kanna had no interest in pursuing them. After all, the mastermind was pretty much gone; she hardly bothered with these small fry.
However, remembering that Outcast and his group would be returning via this road, before leaving, she decided to conveniently clear away this long line of obstructing vehicles.
As for how to clear them, naturally, it was by using the large tree as a broom, sweeping them one by one into the muddy ground beside the road.
After it was over, Kanna clapped her hands and ran back to where she had hidden the young man. She had to drive the car to the side of the road and wait for Outcast and her group to arrive before someone else could take over driving. After all, she wasn't tall enough; driving meant she not only had to stand, but also had trouble reaching the accelerator and brake, which was incredibly difficult for a little dragon-human like her.
When she returned to the car and saw the young man still unconscious, Kanna felt relieved.
To be honest, she was quite afraid of coming back and finding him gone. While she certainly wouldn't shamelessly go looking for him, the thought of it would feel quite disgusting.
After all, the idea of someone waking up, realizing they are severely injured, not wanting to burden others, and thus secretly leaving, was pure idiocy in Kanna's eyes.
The chances of surviving by staying were definitely higher than leaving alone. If they left alone and encountered a bleeding heart who insisted on finding them, it would delay the team's progress, and then they'd be caught by bad guys, resulting in the sacrifice of several companions who absolutely didn't need to die.
Such plotlines were incredibly absurd and sickening.
Besides, even if they couldn't be saved, at least their teammates could erect a grave and have something to remember them by. That was better than dying in some forgotten corner, unknown to anyone.
Meanwhile, Outcast and her group were heading out after finishing their mission when suddenly, a message came from the reconnaissance squad:
Baron Colin and his troops, who had been drawn out by the pillar of light, were found stopped halfway. She was startled at first, thinking they had realized her plan.
However, the scout continued, saying that all the vehicles had been damaged and abandoned by the roadside, with many bodies and scattered deserters along the way.
They had already captured one deserter and were bringing him back.
Outcast nodded, ordering the team to raise their guard and halt their advance, waiting for further news from the front.
Soon, a pale-faced, terrified subordinate of the Baron was brought over by the scouts.
The news they heard from him stunned everyone in the team—the convoy had been attacked by a terrifying little girl during its journey. Surrounded by lightning, the little girl had destroyed the entire convoy in mere seconds, and Baron Colin had also been killed by her. At the time, he had only seen Kanna attack the Baron from afar and hadn't confirmed if he was dead, but he felt it was impossible for Baron Colin to have survived in that situation.
After hearing the man's words, Outcast and the others exchanged glances, all guessing who the assailant was. Finally, she shook her head, "Let's go. Knowing Kanna's personality, I bet she'll be waiting for us by the roadside not far ahead."
The team continued along the road and soon reached the battleground. Seeing the dozens of vehicles lying in the mud, Outcast felt a slight urge to laugh.
"She even knew to clear the road. Looks like this girl's still got her wits about her."
Hearing her words, everyone in the car smiled.
When the convoy reached the very front, they saw Baron Colin lying on the ground, his limbs severed, barely clinging to life. Seeing his miserable state, Outcast frowned, pulled out her revolver, and shot him in the forehead, ending his painful demise.
She understood Kanna's personality quite well, but it was the first time she had seen such ruthless methods from Kanna. She wasn't surprised that Kanna would kill, but she hadn't expected her to torment an opponent so cruelly. For this, she decided to discuss it with Kal'tsit after returning. Kanna's psychological health education could not be neglected; she couldn't be allowed to become a cruel "slaughterer."
As the convoy slowly drove past, many of the former workers saw Baron Colin lying dead on the ground. They called out to their friends, and as they passed Baron Colin's corpse, they spat fiercely upon it, desecrating his body even in death.
Outcast did not stop these miners' actions, because she had seen too many Infected who were even more tragic than these people. This simple and crude way of venting wouldn't affect the team's speed, so she had no reason to intervene.
After passing through the battle zone, Outcast could feel that the Infected behind her had all relaxed, not only because of Colin's death, but also because of the sense of vast freedom after getting their revenge.
"Beep beep beep!" After another less than ten minutes, an off-road vehicle belonging to Baron Colin's family honked its horn repeatedly from the roadside at the approaching convoy.
Looking up, only half a head could be seen emerging from behind the steering wheel in the driver's seat. It was Kanna, who had long grown a bit impatient waiting.
"Grandma! You're so slow! And here I even helped you take care of everyone along the way."
Kanna jumped out of the car and threw herself into Outcast's arms, saying proudly.
"Kanna, you did very well, far exceeding Grandma's plan. But there was a spot for you in this car. Why did you get another car?"
Outcast stroked Kanna's head. Looking at her eyes, which held no hint of murderous intent or ferocity, the words that had been on her lips were swallowed back.
"Oh, I casually saved someone at that guy's house, the one called Co-something. He was pretty badly hurt, and I was afraid he'd die on the way if I carried him around, so I got a car to put him in."
She pointed to the back seat of the car, then took the lollipop Outcast handed her and sat quietly to the side.
"Green! Oh, my Green, how could this happen to you? How did you get such severe injuries!" Just as the young man was being lifted from the car by several Operators, a woman in the team shrieked.
Turning to look, she saw a woman in her forties staring at the scarred young man with shock and sorrow. Although her expression seemed a bit exaggerated, the tears overflowing from her eyes and her concerned look didn't seem fake.
Outcast tilted her head, and an Operator walked over to bring the woman closer. At this moment, the medical Operator who had gone to check on the young man's injuries also approached.
"This… um… Mr. Green is indeed very seriously injured. The most severe injury is on his back, near his heart. However, there are traces of medication applied, and thanks to these medicines, his life has been saved. The other injuries, though they look terrible, are all superficial and not serious. With some medicine and rest, he should recover."
