Chapter 218 - Chapter 217: On the Battlefield

Not far away, Rhodes Island and Lungmen forces were engaging the rest of Reunion Movement.

Hoshiguma, with a grim expression, was holding up her shield against the fierce onslaught. In Lungmen, although no one explicitly stated it, it was tacitly understood that Hoshiguma was the strongest shield in the Guard. But today, facing an enemy whose blade glowed with an eerie red, she felt what it meant to be suffocated by an attack.

Her shield, Hannya, already had dozens of scratches. If Chen hadn't been nearby to share the pressure, she felt she would have been cut in half by now.

"Cough cough! Lungmen profanity! Hoshiguma, can you still hold on?!" Chen was once again forced back by the crimson blade light, and then Hoshiguma jumped out to block in front of her, taking the opponent's next attack. Chen leaned on her sword, getting up from the ground, and asked Hoshiguma, who had also retreated.

Hoshiguma shook her hands, which were numb from the continuous heavy blows, "I'm fine, but Hannya will need a major overhaul after this."

Looking at the new scratches on Hannya, Hoshiguma felt a pang of heartache, but the battle situation in front of her meant she couldn't afford to hold back.

As the opponent tried to break through and attack the two, a volley of bullets from not far away shot towards that person, forcing them back once again.

Turning her head, she saw Exusiai standing on the roof of a vehicle, providing support to personnel in danger from above.

"Oh oh oh oh oh! Apple Pie!" After another burst of bullets scared back the approaching Reunion Movement members, Exusiai's face flushed.

"Hey, hey, hey! Are all your Rhodes Island opponents this exciting?!" Croissant swung her large hammer, sending a Reunion Movement member who got too close to the vehicle flying back, then complained to a Rhodes Island Operator nearby.

At this moment, the Operator beside her was too exhausted to respond, simply continuously pushing back the approaching Reunion Movement members.

And on the battlefield, besides this area and the center, two other fronts were also very eye-catching.

One side was entirely encased in heavy armor, wielding a massive hammer, while facing her was the Rhodes Island woman with an aura of invincibility.

Relying on the powerful defense provided by Sarcophagus, Saria directly took the opponent's swinging hammer with her bare fists, forcing the opponent to retreat repeatedly.

Mudrock was very anxious at this moment because of the attack range of her weapon, so no one dared to get close. After all, a fully swung hammer wouldn't spare allies. Saria, however, was slowly pushing her towards her teammates' position, forcing her to reduce her movements to avoid harming those behind her.

After one punch-hammer exchange, Saria took two steps back, rubbed her numb fist, and then, without changing her expression, continued to charge at Mudrock. Mudrock was in a worse state; her hammer almost slipped from her grasp in that exchange, and she retreated five steps before barely steadying herself.

But at this point, she was less than a meter away from the Reunion Movement members behind her. At this distance, if she were to fully swing her weapon, she would inevitably harm her teammates, so her movements were forced to become smaller.

And this was Saria's goal.

With reduced movement amplitude, the damage her opponent's hammer inflicted on her was much lower, giving her more leeway to entangle with the opponent.

The remaining battlefield was Sharp against another enemy wielding a massive chainsaw. Because Rhodes Island had many skilled chainsaw users, not to mention Blaze, Sharp had extensive experience fighting people who used such weapons.

He didn't directly clash with his opponent but instead used his agility to constantly evade him. Similarly, such a weapon would have high deterrent and combat power if surrounded by enemies, but with teammates all around, the man known as Big Bob could only fight defensively, constrained by his movements.

He had considered bypassing this elusive opponent to directly attack the Rhodes Island formation formed by the vehicles, but every time he showed such an intention, Sharp would attack more urgently, forcing him to continue wrestling with him.

However, although the various battlefields seemed to be in full swing, if one observed carefully, they would notice that the Rhodes Island side was not trying to kill. Instead, they used several high-tier Operators to engage Patriot's high-tier Operators, holding off the attacks, and then used the vehicles as a defensive line to keep the remaining Reunion Movement members outside the perimeter.

In the center of the battle, within the ice formation, Patriot temporarily halted his steps, looking at the Rhodes Island group not far away.

"I understand the situation, but I need to know if you have the strength to defeat Talulah. Come, defeat me and prove yourselves, otherwise, we will resolve Talulah's matter ourselves!"

Perhaps the severe Originium infection had hardened Patriot's mind; despite having witnessed Kanna fighting Talulah, he still chose to engage Rhodes Island in a fight to the death.

"I say, Old Fogey, has Originium truly clogged your brain? With Kanna's strength and our combined efforts, how could Talulah not be defeated? You insist on a fight to the death."

Frostnova was truly angry after hearing Patriot's words. Although she always called him "Old Fogey, Old Fogey," she never expected him to be so stubborn.

Patriot glanced at Frostnova. How could he not know this? But Patriot was the Patriot of all Ursus Infected. If he openly opposed Talulah, it would be an opposition to everything he had stood for before, and the already precarious Reunion Movement would inevitably fall apart.

The cost of doing so would be that the Ursus Infected, who had only just started to recover after more than a decade of effort, would once again be plunged into the abyss. He no longer had time to lead the Infected to climb out of the abyss once more, so only one path of no return remained before him.

At that moment, the Doctor understood Patriot's words. He looked at Kanna beside him, crouched down, and asked, "Can you get one of those things?"

"There's one left, but are you sure Patriot will agree?" Kanna pulled another Pokeball from her pocket and handed it to the Doctor, much to Amiya's shock.

"Frostnova and I discussed Patriot's issue before. If Patriot insists on going his own way, I believe you and Frostnova can knock him out together, right?" Even through the hood, Kanna could hear the firm tone in his words, tinged with a hint of mischief.

"Tsk! It wouldn't sound good if it got out that Rhodes Island instructed a child to team up with an adopted daughter to 'discipline' a centenarian..." Kanna couldn't help but look down on the Doctor.

"This is between heaven, earth, you, and me. It won't get out..."

Kanna tilted her head and looked at Frostnova beside her. At this moment, she was slightly hunched forward, in a pouncing posture.
