Upgrade (Ethan) extended his hand, enveloping the infinite receiver that had fallen to the ground. With precise movements, he reattached it to Ben Tennyson's Omnitrix.

With Transformer Girl's assistance, the Omnitrix was successfully restored.
"Transformer Girl," Upgrage walked over, spreading his hands, "based on your understanding of the Love Watch, can you figure out what Ben did to his Omnitrix?"
"Hm…" Transformer Girl paused for a moment, then answered calmly.
"Ben essentially removed the Omnitrix's protection layer. That allowed him to tamper with it, but it also exposed the DNA bank."
She turned toward Ben. "That means uncontrollable genetic contamination leaked into the environment."
"Ben," Grandpa Max's expression hardened, his voice heavy.
"This is serious. There's a campsite nearby. If DNA contamination reached it…"
He didn't finish the sentence.
"Uh, I mean—" Ben spoke weakly, desperately changing the subject.
"Didn't you notice? Ethen can transform himself. He can even summon aliens!"
Everyone stared at Ben in silence.
Alright.
Compared to the disaster Ben had just caused—
Ethen's situation suddenly felt… irrelevant.
"Then we don't waste time." Upgrage spoke decisively.
"We check the nearest campsite. Now."
"Agreed," Transformer Girl smiled faintly.
"Ethen, let's reinforce Grandpa's car and boost its kinetic output."
The two of them merged with the old, broken-down car—
Pink and green light spread across its surface.
Armor plates unfolded.
Weapon systems deployed.
In seconds, the shabby RV transformed into a heavily armored combat vehicle, practically a land battleship.
"…This is the first time I've driven something like this," Grandpa Max muttered.
Then he got in.
Swamp Campsite
The campsite was lively.
Tourists laughed, chatted, cooked food, and explored the swamp's edge.
"Did you see that thing moving in the water?"
"Fresh alligator hatchlings! Don't miss out!"
A local vendor cheerfully sold baby alligators in glass tanks.
Nearby, a father struggled with a barbecue grill.
"Why won't this light?!"
He flicked the lighter again and again.
Nothing.
Annoyed, he cursed.
"Shit—!"
Whoosh!
Flames erupted instantly.
The charcoal ignited.
So did his hand.
He stared at his burning palm in shock.
"Cool, Dad!" his teenage son shouted excitedly.
"You got superpowers! Are you gonna be the Fire King now?"
"No—"
"So hot—!!"
The man screamed.
His eyes turned bloodshot.
His entire body ignited.
Boom!!
Violent flames engulfed him—
Then spread.
Consuming nearby people.
Consuming screams.
Consuming lives.
"AHHH!!"
"Fire!!"
"What the hell is happening?! This shouldn't be possible!"
Another tourist convulsed.
His body flickered in and out of existence.
He screamed in agony as he phased uncontrollably—
Then reappeared inside another person's body.
They fused together.
Both died screaming.
Snap!!
An alligator suddenly mutated into a massive alien beast.
It lunged forward and bit a local resident in half.
From the swamp—
Mermaid-like alien creatures emerged.
They dragged stunned tourists screaming into the water.
Even worse—
People began mutating randomly.
Without Omnitrix protection, the transformations were pure agony.
Bones twisted.
Flesh tore.
They attacked each other in pain and madness.
The campsite became a living hell.
The armored vehicle arrived at the entrance.
Upgrage stepped down—
And froze.
Alien limbs.
Human remains.
Bodies scattered like a battlefield.
"…This isn't a normal universe anymore," he whispered.
"H-how could this happen…?" Ben went pale.
His heart pounded violently.
He felt like he couldn't breathe.
Gwen stared at him—
Not angrily.
Not sarcastically.
Just silently.
Her disappointment hurt more than words.
Ding! Mission Issued: "Ordinary Humans Contaminated by DNA"
Mission Content: The Omnitrix's power is terrifying. Its contaminating nature is equally dangerous. These civilians were exposed only once. Their bodies are collapsing uncontrollably. Deal with them.

Upgrage cursed under his breath.
"I'm not facing villains. I'm facing innocent people being tortured to death. How the hell am I supposed to 'deal with' that?!"
Whoosh! Bang!!
A blur slammed into the armored vehicle.
A body tumbled across the ground.
Blood spread.
It was a young man—
So thin his bones jutted through his skin.
Roller skates were fused to his feet.
His eyes were filled with pain.
"…Finally… it's over…"
The light in his eyes vanished.
"No—no!!" Ben jumped out of the car, shouting desperately.
"Ethen! There has to be a way to save them! I know you can!!"
Upgrage didn't answer.
He stared at the suffering around him.
Then he spoke—quietly.
"It's time someone ends this. No matter the method. Even if I'm branded a butcher. I will end their pain."
His eyes hardened.
He reached into the vehicle—
Prototype Tool unfolded in his hands.
Under his manipulation, it reshaped.
A massive laser cannon formed.
RUMBLE!!
Upgrage's face twisted.
He fired.
The beam swept across the campsite.
One by one—
The mutated bodies turned to ash.
Their screams stopped.
Their pain vanished.
Silence returned.
Ben stood frozen.
His mouth open.
Guilt crushed him.
Grandpa Max's chest heaved violently.
The apprentice Plumber before him—
Was more ruthless than ever.
More terrifying.
But—
He had truly ended their suffering.
In the most brutal way possible.
"Ethen…" Grandpa Max looked at the ashes.
"…You are the most unique Plumber I have ever known."
The swamp burned quietly behind them.
And Ben finally understood— Being a hero wasn't about transforming into an alien.
Sometimes—
It was about choosing who bears the pain.
