Chapter 117 - Chapter 116: Happy Birthday

Inside the Hokage's Office, Naruto sat slumped against the wall, exhaustion written all over his face. Piles of documents lay scattered across the floor.

For days and nights on end, he'd been working without rest—reviewing reports, signing approvals, dealing with endless missions.

His eyes were ringed with dark circles, and his voice was heavy with regret.

"I really screwed up this time…" he muttered.

He looked up at the portraits hanging on the wall—portraits of the previous Hokage. His gaze lingered on the Fourth Hokage, his father, Minato Namikaze.

"Father… what should I do?" he whispered.

Just then, the office door creaked open.

Shikamaru stepped in, stopping mid-stride when he saw Naruto sitting on the ground amid the mess.

"What's going on, Naruto?" he asked, frowning slightly.

Naruto sighed, rubbing his forehead. "I messed up Himawari's birthday."

Shikamaru crossed his arms, his expression turning serious. "Don't tell me you sent a Shadow Clone home again."

"Yeah," Naruto admitted, defeated.

"I told you to take the day off," Shikamaru scolded. "You could've at least been there for your daughter."

Naruto's voice softened, filled with guilt. "I wanted to… but the Chunin Exams prep is already behind schedule. And there's still that unknown enemy—Kaguya mentioned them before she vanished. Plus, there's the issue with the Masked Man."

Shikamaru sighed heavily, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's been over ten years since the Fourth Shinobi World War… and we're still cleaning up the mess. Troublesome as ever."

Naruto gave a faint, tired smile. "Yeah… you're right."

Looking at his old friend, Shikamaru's expression softened. He walked over, resting a hand on Naruto's shoulder.

"Go home, Naruto. I'll handle things here tonight."

Naruto blinked in surprise, then smiled gratefully. "Thanks, Shikamaru."

Meanwhile, back at the Uzumaki residence, Himawari stood frozen at the door, staring in disbelief.

In front of her stood Minato Namikaze, Kushina Uzumaki, and Jiraiya.

They looked exactly like the photos she'd seen—her grandparents and her father's teacher.

But her parents had told her her grandparents were gone… that they'd passed on long ago. So how could they be standing right here?

"G-Grandpa? Grandma?" she asked hesitantly.

At the sound of her voice, Kushina's expression melted with joy.

She dropped to her knees and opened her arms wide, pulling Himawari into a tight embrace.

"Himawari, my precious granddaughter…" she said, her voice trembling with emotion as she gently stroked the girl's hair. Tears shimmered in her eyes.

Minato and Jiraiya stood behind her, both smiling softly, their gazes full of pride and warmth.

At that moment, Hinata appeared at the doorway.

When she saw the three familiar faces, her eyes widened in shock. Her body stiffened as she instinctively activated her Byakugan.

But there was nothing unusual—no signs of Genjutsu, no Transformation Technique.

"This isn't possible…" she whispered.

Her tone sharpened slightly as she asked, "Father, Mother… Lord Jiraiya… are you Edo Tensei?"

Naruto hadn't told Hinata about the recent reports involving Edo Tensei or the mysterious Masked Man, so her first thought was alarm.

Seeing Kushina holding Himawari, a flicker of fear passed through Hinata's heart—what if the person controlling the jutsu meant to harm her daughter?

Jiraiya quickly raised a hand, smiling reassuringly.

"Relax, Hinata. We're not Edo Tensei. We've really been revived."

Hinata's eyes widened. "Revived…? Truly revived?"

Minato nodded gently. "Yes, Hinata. It's really us."

At that moment, Boruto, Sarada, and Sumire arrived, hearing the commotion.

They froze in the doorway, stunned at the sight before them—Kushina holding Himawari, Minato and Jiraiya standing nearby, their chakra radiating softly but unmistakably real.

Sarada turned to Boruto, whispering, "Hey… that guy looks exactly like your grandfather, the Fourth Hokage. Is that a Transformation Technique?"

Boruto squinted. "I don't think so. He looks exactly like the pictures I've seen… and yeah, he's definitely as handsome as Grandpa."

Kushina released Himawari, smiling through tears, and turned toward Boruto.

She stepped closer, her eyes brimming with affection.

"You really take after Minato… you're as handsome as your grandfather, Boruto."

Boruto smiled, scratching his head. "Uh, thanks… Grandma."

Kushina laughed softly and pulled him into a warm hug.

Minato crouched down beside Himawari and smiled tenderly.

"There won't be any more goodbyes this time," he said softly. "Himawari… happy birthday."

"Thank you, Grandpa!" Himawari said brightly, hugging him back.

Outside the Hokage residence, under the glow of a lone streetlamp, Naruto stood silently in his Hokage cloak, staring at the scene through the window.

He froze, unable to move.

"Mother… Father… Jiraiya-sensei…" he whispered.

Ever since he'd learned that the Masked Man had somehow revived them through Edo Tensei, Naruto had imagined this moment countless times—but he never thought it would happen like this.

Tears filled his eyes, and he bit his lip, trying to hold them back.

Inside the house, Kushina suddenly paused. She turned her head toward the street—and saw him.

Naruto. Standing there in the light, looking at them.

Her heart clenched. "Naruto…"

Minato and Jiraiya followed her gaze, their expressions softening with emotion.

Jiraiya smiled faintly. "Look at you… my student. You've come so far."

Minato's eyes shone with pride. "Naruto… my son. Your now Hokage."

Inside Naruto's mind, Kurama's deep voice rumbled softly.

"What are you waiting for? Go, Naruto."

Naruto blinked, then nodded slightly.

His feet began to move—slowly at first, then faster, until he broke into a run.

In the real world, he dashed forward, straight toward his mother.

Kushina's eyes welled with tears as she ran to meet him.

When they collided, she wrapped her arms around him tightly.

Naruto trembled, clutching her like a child again, overwhelmed by the warmth he'd missed for so long.

Kushina buried her face in his shoulder, tears falling freely.

"Naruto… my son… I'm so sorry. I couldn't be there for you when you were little. I couldn't watch you grow. I've felt guilty all this time."

Naruto's voice broke as he hugged her even tighter.

"It's okay, Mother. I've grown up… and I've done everything you told me to. One by one."

He pulled back slightly, smiling through tears. "I married a woman as kind and gentle as you."

His eyes turned to Hinata, who was crying quietly in the doorway.

"And I have a son and a daughter—both amazing, both strong. I even became Hokage. You once said I'd surpass you and Dad… and I think maybe I finally did."

Kushina sobbed softly, her voice trembling. "Naruto… you really did it. You became everything I ever hoped for. I'm so proud of you."

Minato and Jiraiya stood nearby, watching silently, their own eyes wet.

Minato stepped forward, placing a hand on his son's shoulder.

"Naruto… your father is proud of you too."

Then he embraced them both—Kushina and Naruto—his family finally reunited in warmth and tears.

But the peace didn't last long.

A sudden whirl tore through the air as a swirling vortex opened above the village.

One by one, figures emerged from the dimensional rift—Menma (Boruto's Shadow Clone), Hashirama, Madara, Tobirama, Itachi, Shisui, Fugaku, Mikoto, and several Akatsuki members.

They landed smoothly on the street not far from the house.

Jiraiya's expression hardened in surprise. "Menma? What are you doing here?"

Menma smirked slightly. "Relax, Pervy Sage. I came to deliver a gift."
