The big boss remained seated in the conference room even after the meeting ended.
Shi Nian briefly considered approaching him, but just as she decided to, the leader of the RainCloud representatives stopped her.
"Miss Shi Nian, please come over in two days to discuss the contract."
As they spoke, the leader asked casually though not without curiosity, if she had a personal relationship with Assistant Bo.
"Team Leader, there's no such thing," she replied calmly. "But may I ask who the person sitting next to Assistant Bo is?"
Seeing the suspicion in his eyes, she added lightly, "I'm just curious about their sudden appearance at today's meeting."
The leader turned to glance behind him, only to see the departing backs of Assistant Bo and the big boss.
"That's our chairman, the head of the Bosi Group," he said quietly before turning away quickly, as if afraid she might ask further questions.
Had it been anyone else, he wouldn't have said even that much. The chairman always kept his identity and information private. Even employees in companies under the Bosi Group rarely saw him in person.
The leader himself had only met the man once, years ago, when he attended a dinner meeting with one of the group's executives.
Of course, the chairman's name was listed on the company's official website, but not a single photo could be found. The media called him the invisible big boss.
The only reason the leader mentioned him now was because of Assistant Bo's attitude toward Shi Nian.
Anyone who knew Assistant Bo would know he never gave special treatment to anyone—unless it was by the chairman's instruction.
But even then, the team leader could not imagine the chairman taking special notice of anyone. To him, the man was untouchable.
As the leader hurried away, Shi Nian murmured softly, "The Bosi Group…"
No wonder I couldn't find any information about its boss.
He's Si Yehan, she thought.
Shi Nian hadn't even bothered to look up the Bosi Group's chairman's name while reviewing company information.
It was a careless oversight. If she had paid more attention, she might have noticed the signs earlier.
Shi Nian gathered her belongings and called her chauffeur to meet her outside the RainCloud building. Non-employees weren't allowed to use the company's parking lot.
When she got into the car, her phone rang—it was Lu Yanchen, inviting her to dinner. She tactfully refused.
She could handle her family, but not her fiancé. The original Shi Nian had been deeply infatuated with him.
If they met privately, he would immediately sense something different. It wasn't a long-term solution, but for now, avoiding him was safer.
Then a message from him arrived:
"How do you know Si Yehan?"
Shi Nian's eyes widened. That familiar name…
How does he know about me and Si Yehan?
A memory flashed through her mind.
The underground ring… That night, both him and Lu Yanchen had been there. No wonder I easily let my guard down and fainted.
So that's how he knows.
This, however, was good news. Now that she could confirm Si Yehan's name, she could learn more through Lu Yanchen.
And now she was certain—this man was her Si Yehan.
Quickly clearing her thoughts, Shi Nian typed a reply:
"I don't know who you're talking about, Brother Yanchen."
She didn't want to appear familiar with Si Yehan—not yet. Even if she tried, Lu Yanchen would know it was false. After all, the original Shi Nian had never known him.
"Brother Yanchen, let's have dinner tomorrow."
She decided to postpone her earlier plans.
After receiving his positive reply, Shi Nian leaned back against the seat, her thoughts adrift as the car sped away.
…
Meanwhile, in the RainCloud building above the cafeteria—where he had earlier watched Shi Nian, Si Yehan sat in the managing director's office.
He had asked Assistant Bo to bring him Shi Nian's profile. Since it was an impromptu request, Assistant Bo simply handed him his work iPad, where the data was stored.
Assistant Bo quietly observed his boss as he read. In all his years working for Si Yehan, he had never seen him so focused on anyone's file.
It wasn't the first time they had investigated someone, such research was common in their line of business. But this time… it felt different.
Si Yehan's gaze lingered on the photos attached to the report. Something about the Shi Nian in the pictures felt different from the woman he'd seen today.
He remembered her eyes—deep as galaxies, glittering with the kind of light that drew people in.
The eyes are the windows to one's soul.
Then his gaze dropped to the section mentioning her fiancé. The name there made his chest tighten.
Lu Yanchen.
"She's Lu Yanchen's fiancée…" he murmured softly.
No wonder Lu Yanchen had seemed so strange the previous night.
Turning away from the screen, Si Yehan spoke evenly, "Clear my schedule for the next two days. Inform them that I'll be attending the meeting personally."
Assistant Bo hesitated for a moment, confusion flickering in his eyes. The chairman rarely involved himself in such matters. But he nodded. "Yes, Chairman."
Si Yehan, too, couldn't explain his own decision.
Visiting RainCloud today had been on a whim. He'd simply felt that if he didn't go, he might regret it.
And when he arrived, he hadn't understood why, until he saw her.
There was something about Shi Nian that pulled him in, something he couldn't understand.
Placing a hand over his chest, he whispered softly,
"What is it about you, Shi Nian…"
