"Damn it, it's someone from the Hidden Rain! I saw him!"
A Kusagakure ninja shouted, but his voice was quickly drowned beneath the thunder of hooves.
Others had glimpsed the Rain shinobi too—but now wasn't the time to worry about it.
The herd had turned around and was charging straight back into the Grass ninja camp.
From atop the roof, Midori sneered.
He had been caught off guard earlier, but with distance between him and the stampede now, he was ready to prove himself.
If he had no way to handle this, he wasn't fit to be Kusagakure's leader.
"Run! The cows are back!"
"It's not safe here—get out of the way!"
"I'll, uh… slip away first. You guys handle this, yeah?"
Before Midori could even bark an order, his men panicked and scattered.
One by one they leapt off the roof, fleeing in all directions, leaving him alone.
For a moment, Midori froze. His raised hand hung uselessly in the air, the words in his throat stuck.
"Grass…" He cursed under his breath, face twitching.
He'd been about to tell them to work together to stop the cattle—to minimize the damage.
But none of them even waited for him to speak.
Not a single one follows orders!
Still, he couldn't just stand by and watch Konoha's housing—entrusted to Kusagakure—get trampled.
Even if it was only him, he had to act.
"A bunch of beasts—do you think Kusagakure is easy to bully? Fire Style: Explosive Flame!"
Whether he was insulting the cattle or his own men was unclear.
He sped through hand seals and spewed a jet of flame.
It struck the ground ahead of the herd and erupted like a barrel of oil, spreading into a blazing sea of fire.
His plan was simple: scare the cattle into stopping.
But he had no idea the herd had been drugged.
Their bodies boiled with restless energy—they weren't afraid of anything.
The bulls roared and dove headlong into the inferno.
"Moo—!"
"Ahhhhhh!"
"It's hot! Shit, it's burning!"
"Chief, you bastard! You roasted us too!"
Cattle bellowed, ninjas screamed.
Those still clinging to cows' backs or bellies had no chance to escape and were seared right along with them.
Fortunately for them, Midori hadn't aimed to kill.
The flames died quickly under the trampling hooves, but the damage was done.
"Damn it… there's definitely something wrong here!" Midori muttered, panic finally setting in.
It was too late to try another jutsu, and there was no way he could stop the stampede alone.
He had no choice but to abandon the house and leap away.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The wooden structure shattered under the cattle's weight. Planks flew like shrapnel, collapsing into ruins.
But this wasn't ordinary timber—it was reinforced by Tenzo's Wood Style.
The walls were sturdier than they looked. The cattle staggered, dazed from the impact, their charge faltering.
The Kusagakure shinobi caught in the herd weren't so lucky.
Dizzied, battered, and thrown around, their screams echoed again.
The bulls recovered first. Still driven by the drugs in their veins, they calmed only for a moment before succumbing to another urge.
Right there, amidst the wreckage, the herd began to mate frenziedly.
For the Grass ninjas still trapped inside the mass of animals, it was hell on earth—something they'd never forget, no matter how much they wished they could.
Not far away, Konoha's four flower and Karin with her mother watched everything unfold.
They couldn't stop laughing.
Their resentment toward Kusagakure lessened with every passing second. In fact, some of them even pitied the poor bastards.
Almost all the Grass ninjas were affected—hundreds still trapped in the herd.
Only a handful escaped earlier thanks to quick reflexes.
Sensing danger, Kana quickly pulled the girls back. "That's enough. Don't stay here any longer, you'll regret it. This isn't something you should be watching."
"Aww, Aunt Kana, come on! This is just getting to the exciting part!" Ino pouted, reluctant to leave.
But she couldn't fight against Kana's authority—arguing would be disrespectful, and worse, they risked being discovered.
Even Sakura protested, eyes glued to the chaos. "And what about the second half? It's just starting to get good!"
Kana frowned. "Second half?"
Realizing her slip, Sakura hurried to cover. "I-I mean, there are still so many people trapped. They'll have to be rescued, and the ranch owner will show up soon too."
Karin smirked. "Yeah, and the house they lived in is gone. So many injured… I can't wait to see their faces when they realize. Just imagining it feels amazing!"
Kana sighed, smiling faintly. "Alright, enough. I know you're venting for Karin and me, but this is plenty. If you stick around, they might find us. Someone clearly tampered with the cattle, and if we're caught nearby, we'll be blamed."
Right then, Kurenai and Anko appeared.
"That's right," Kurenai said firmly. "You've had your fun. Go back. If something unexpected happens, what will you do about tomorrow's Chunin Exam?"
The girls wanted to argue. In the future clips, nothing bad happened to them, so what was there to worry about? But of course, they couldn't say that out loud.
And they knew—Tsunade and Kurenai were dead set against them getting any closer to Kusagakure.
So, grudgingly, they let themselves be led away, muttering in frustration.
Meanwhile, Itsuki quietly withdrew even farther.
The drugged cattle were bad enough, but this… this was more grotesque than he cared to watch.
Soon after, he noticed Kusagakure shinobi had captured three Hidden Rain ninja lurking nearby.
And leading the capture was a familiar face—the massive sword-wielding Grass ninja, the only one who'd ever managed to injure Itsuki back in Kusagakure.
Of course, that ended with Itsuki's shadow clones turning the man into a bruised pig's head. He hadn't lost anything.
"Tie them up first!" Midori barked.
He sealed the three Rain shinobi's chakra and ignored them, focusing instead on rescuing his trapped comrades.
The cattle weren't calming anytime soon. They'd have to prioritize extraction.
But soon, the ranch owner arrived.
The man's face twisted with rage at the ruined pasture and his drugged, rampaging cattle.
He jabbed a finger at Midori's nose, cursing furiously.
Midori tried to deflect, blaming the three Rain ninja.
But the ranch owner wasn't buying it—they didn't look like they could pay a fraction of the damages.
In the end, Midori managed to negotiate: he would bring the Rain shinobi to their leader, and the three parties would settle it together.
Originally, Midori wanted to dump the mess onto Konoha. But the ranch owner was furious and wouldn't wait.
Reluctantly, Midori sent a messenger to notify Konoha, then departed with the rancher and the Rain prisoners.
He didn't realize—the messenger never made it.
Knocked unconscious by Itsuki in a nearby alley, the warning died there.
As long as no news reached Konoha's officials, they could turn a blind eye… and pretend none of this had ever happened.
