It was a girl, no taller than one and a half meters, appearing under twenty. She wore a white floral dress, striped stockings, and black sandals. Petite and delicate, she looked soft and cute—Itsuki's first thought was that if she wore Gothic clothing, she'd pull it off perfectly.
"You… are the Slug Sage?" Itsuki asked, surprised.
The voice matched the one he had heard before, so the guess slipped naturally from his lips.
"It's me!" The girl nodded with a gentle smile. "Lord Itsuki, please follow me. I've prepared a place. You only need to summon the spirit beast there."
Without waiting for his questions, she turned and explained, "This is my anthropomorphic form. It's easier to move around in a human body. Only in this way can I also adjust your spirit."
Itsuki raised an eyebrow. He was surprised, but not too much.
After all, the Snake Sage could transform too, so why not the Slug Sage? As for the toads… well, maybe having hands and feet was just unnecessary for them.
Soon, Itsuki followed her to a high bamboo platform arranged like an altar.

"It's truly an mass destruction!" she exclaimed, examining it carefully. "To think humans could artificially create something like this… truly remarkable."
Seeing Itsuki's confusion, she explained, "It immediately began absorbing the natural chakra of the Shikkotsu Forest. That's because of its unique body—it instinctively replenishes what it lacks.
But it cannot control the flood of energy. If left unchecked, its chakra will spiral out of control and it may even explode."
Itsuki rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "So all those rampages before… they were caused by being force-fed too much energy, throwing it out of balance?"
"That's right!" the Slug Sage nodded.
"The Half-Moon Clan has skill, but they are too impatient. Even a talented human would go mad if suddenly burdened with a power they couldn't handle. Just like many Jinchūriki…
This beast has no developed intelligence yet. It survives only by instinct. To increase its power too quickly is to ensure its premature collapse."
"I see…" Itsuki's eyes lit with understanding.
Then he asked, "If that's the case, you must have a way to make it grow steadily—so it won't go berserk after transformation, right?"
"Leave it to me," the Slug Sage assured him with a smile. "For now, just focus on learning senjutsu. I'll keep watch.
When you finish your training, perform the blood-feeding method Honoka taught you, while transmitting natural chakra into it. The chakra from your body will be gentler, easier for it to absorb.
With you as the medium, its bond to you will also deepen. Once it completes its transformation, it won't easily devour its master.

And so, Itsuki began training in senjutsu under the Slug Sage.
The Shikkotsu Forest's senjutsu was the very same mastered by Hashirama Senju.
Once perfected, the user's body would regenerate endlessly as long as natural chakra remained—a pseudo-immortal state.
But the conditions were harsh.
One needed a powerful body, vast chakra reserves, and extraordinary talent.
With these alone, one could already be a great shinobi—even without senjutsu.
That's why for many, it was unnecessary.
For example, if Jiraiya didn't rely on the Two Great Sage Toads to balance his chakra, his senjutsu would be useless.
Even Tsunade could have learned it, but for her, the effort outweighed the benefit.
Thus, only a handful throughout shinobi history had truly mastered Sage Arts.
While Itsuki trained in the Shikkotsu Forest with the Ultimate Summoned Beast secured, Tenzo, Karin, Yakumo, and Honoka remained behind on Summoning Island.
They erased all traces of their presence before starting their journey back to Konoha.
Meanwhile, back in Konoha, with Kakashi actively pushing for aid, Jiraiya had already begun teaching Naruto.
