A group of chunin, led by Ibiki Morino, continued to resist Sunagakure's assault.
But with the massive summoned snakes wreaking havoc, their line was breaking, and casualties were piling up.
Then, suddenly—
BOOM!
A powerful leg dropped from the sky like a hammer, splitting a three-headed snake clean in half. The earth shook violently beneath the impact.
Everyone froze.
Even the Konoha shinobi who were used to chaos felt their hearts jump.
"It's Lady Tsunade!" Ibiki gasped, stunned for a moment before relief and joy washed over him.
He shouted, "Our support has arrived! Now it's our turn to counterattack!"
The Konoha ninjas' morale surged. Knowing such a legendary figure had come to their aid, their fear turned into excitement. They roared as they rushed back into battle.
"As expected of my elder sister… you're still just as violent as before. No, even more violent than before!"
Nawaki, who arrived shortly after, could only sigh at the sight.
He actually wanted to join the fight, but golden chains bound his body, making it impossible to move.
Nawaki struggled symbolically, then groaned at the red-haired girl beside him. "Hey, Uzumaki sister, can't you tie me up another way? This is way too uncomfortable!"
The girl was none other than Honoka, who Tsunade had called to help via the chat group.
The ninja academy had already repelled Kusagakure's intrusion, and the students had been evacuated safely.
Honoka had time to spare, so she came.
The redhead pursed her lips and said, "You're Tsunade-sama's younger brother, which makes you a generation older than me. Just call me Honoka."
But Nawaki shook his head stubbornly. "You've lived longer than me, so of course I have to call you sister."
His personality was as headstrong and playful as Naruto's.
Some people even speculated that after Hashirama's death, Asura's chakra reincarnated into Nawaki first.
But since Madara wasn't dead yet, Asura's chakra abandoned Nawaki halfway and eventually chose Naruto. That's why Nawaki's fate was cut short.
Honoka stared at him blankly for a moment, then sighed. "Actually, you're a reincarnated body. You don't really feel pain. The only reason you're uncomfortable is psychological.
The truth is, you're just upset because you can't help. But if I untie you, you won't be able to fight. You'll just end up attacking villagers under the caster's control, and that would only make things harder for Lady Tsunade."
Nawaki froze, then realized she was right. His expression fell into frustration.
"But… it's not completely impossible."
Honoka's eyes glinted. She formed two diamond seals and wrapped them around Nawaki's body.
"What the—what are you doing?!" Nawaki yelped, feeling dread creep in.
"To make you useful."
And then—WHAM!
Honoka swung him like a massive meteor hammer, slamming him into the incoming Suna shinobi.
"Whoa! AHHHH! AHHHHHHHH!"
For the first time in his life, Nawaki experienced something like a rollercoaster ride—while being used as a weapon.
This girl looked innocent on the outside, but her heart was black as ink.
With Tsunade smashing enemies head-on and Honoka using Nawaki as a human meteor hammer, the battle at Konoha's gates flipped instantly. The tide of war had turned.
Meanwhile, at the hot springs—
Jiraiya, crafty as ever, finally managed to trick Fūma Kotohime and rushed toward the main battlefield.
By then, Konoha's villagers had already been evacuated. Anbu were signaling for a counterattack.
On his way, Jiraiya ran into the Aburame clan. They used their parasites to remove Orochimaru's snake venom from his body. Kotohime was quickly subdued and taken prisoner.
In the forest outside Konoha—
After Yakumo suppressed Ido's consciousness, her body weakened. Seeing the opening, Guren managed to escape.
Kurama Unkai soon arrived with reinforcements. He apologized solemnly to Yakumo and promised never to force her again.
He admitted that Orochimaru's interest in the Kurama clan was a ruse—he only wanted Yakumo.
The clan's ability to manipulate the five senses was rare, but Orochimaru saw no value in anyone else.
Unkai encouraged Yakumo to be cautious. The Kurama clan couldn't be saved by one person's strength alone—it needed the self-strengthening of everyone. Then he left, apologizing once more.
Elsewhere, Naruto's group caught up to Kankuro, who had been defeated by Sasuke and left behind.
Sakura stayed behind to tend to him while Naruto pressed forward.
As in the original events, Sasuke was badly wounded against Gaara. Naruto, despite his inexperience, threw himself into battle.
When Kushina arrived, she found Naruto forced into a desperate corner.
And then—against all odds—Naruto summoned Gamabunta.
Kushina's heart trembled.
She didn't rush to reveal herself. She simply watched, tears stinging her eyes.
The Itsuki-shared memories had shown her a son mocked as clumsy, dismissed as talentless.
In the Chunin Exam preliminaries, he had barely scraped by with luck.
And now, in just one month, he had summoned the chief toad of Mount Myoboku.
"Maybe… you'll grow into an even better shinobi than Minato."
She wiped her tears, pride swelling in her chest.
She couldn't compare him to Itsuki—her son's peerless cousin. But surpassing Minato? That was possible.
At the Root base—
Danzo had just returned and smashed another teacup in rage.
He had spent enormous resources—even brought in one of Ryuchi Cave's sages—yet everything had been crushed by Itsuki.
"The growth rate of this Senju Itsuki is terrifying!" said his swordsman guard with lingering fear.
Last time, they could still barely contend with him. But this time? They couldn't even approach.
Today, Itsuki was no longer someone Root could touch.
Another guard, from the Aburame clan, frowned. "But this puts us in a dangerous position. Lady Mito seems to have broken Orochimaru's control. If she exposes us…"
Danzo scowled.
If Mito revealed everything, their collaboration with Orochimaru, the opening of Konoha's gates, and the crimes she had already accused him of would all come to light.
No matter how he denied it, everyone would believe Mito. And once it was public, his career was finished.
"Shut up!" Danzo roared, his irritation flaring.
He was already grasping for solutions. He didn't need his subordinates spelling out his doom.
Danzo paced back and forth. Mito didn't worry him too much—she was, after all, a dead woman.
He could frame her as still being under Orochimaru's influence.
What truly haunted him was Itsuki.
His growth was accelerating beyond all expectation. Worse, they were already mortal enemies.
If he didn't crush Itsuki soon, Root itself would be destroyed.
BOOOOM!
Before Danzo could plan further, the entire Root base shook violently.
Itsuki had arrived.
A massive wooden construct smashed through the underground halls, while a gigantic emerald dragon—its scales gleaming with stormlight—soared at his side.
Wind roared. Lightning crackled. The entire Root base was being torn apart.
"Ryuzen, take care of the rest. Don't let a single one escape!" Itsuki ordered coldly.
The dragon roared in response.
Ryuzen — Azure Dragon, the ultimate spiritual beast Itsuki had brought back from Illution Island.
With the Slug Sage's help, it had advanced fully, becoming the Eastern Azure Dragon that existed in Itsuki's mind.
Though suppressed back into a smaller form to conserve power, it still wielded tremendous might.
Sage chakra coursed through its body, with full mastery over wind and thunder.
Its strength was no less than Sage Jiraiya.
