"Naruto, it's all your mother's fault!" Kushina cried loudly, unable to hold back her tears.
"What the hell has that monkey been doing all these years?" Mito cursed, her tone uncharacteristically sharp.
"The Jinchūriki himself has endured so much pain. How could they treat Naruto like this? If they push him to defect, what happens then?"
Itsuki didn't add much commentary. He simply said, "This is the truth. Naruto has lived a very difficult life. Only after he graduated did people gradually begin to recognize him."
He then continued, "Although you don't want to interfere too much in the affairs of the living, now that you've escaped the control of the Impure World Reincarnation and can move freely, why not use this turbulent time to actually do something for the village?"
"I'm going to find Naruto!" Kushina's expression turned firm. "No matter what, I have to do something for him before I leave—something to make up for all these years."
She turned to Mito, as if asking for her blessing.
Mito sighed softly, then patted Kushina's shoulder. "Go. Whatever you want to do, I'll support you. Even if you expose this world, I'll cover for you!"
She owed Kushina that much.
If it weren't for Mito, Kushina wouldn't have been forced to become a Jinchūriki.
If Kushina hadn't been a Jinchūriki, Naruto never would have lived such a tragic life.
Kushina nodded gratefully toward Itsuki, then rushed off to find her son.
Mito watched her go, then looked at Itsuki. "You're right. These are the problems left over from our time. We should be the ones to deal with them."
"So, the village invasion is now in your hands. I'm going to find Hashirama and Tobirama. They're equally responsible for all this."
Her intent was clear—she planned to help the First and Second Hokage break free from Orochimaru's control.
"I'll go with you," Itsuki said. "You're still bound by the Impure World Reincarnation, so there might be limits on what you can do. And who knows—Orochimaru may have prepared ways to restrain you."
He quickly formed three Wood Release clones.
One carried Kana away to safety and stayed to protect her.
Two more went toward the battlefield to reinforce Konoha.
And with another clone already tracking Danzo, Itsuki had now created four in total.
But each Wood Clone carried enough chakra to rival a powerful Kage.
In other words, each of them could even activate Sage Mode.
"What a good boy," Mito said warmly, reaching out to pat Itsuki's head.
She seemed to like using this gesture to show affection toward younger generations. But Itsuki's body stiffened slightly, as though he disliked it.
"What's wrong? You don't like me touching your head?" Mito asked with a smile.
Itsuki touched the spot she had patted, then said awkwardly, "It's not that. It's just… they say men won't grow taller if their heads are touched too much."
Mito froze for a second, then burst out laughing.
"You little brat. What kind of man worries about that in front of his great-aunt? But if you don't like head pats, then come here and let me hug you instead!"
"No way!" Itsuki made a face. "You're an Impure World Reincarnation. That's not even your real body. Who knows what's inside!"
Mito's expression instantly darkened. She grabbed Itsuki in a headlock and pulled him into her armpit.
"How dare you talk to me like that? Do you really think I'm good-tempered?" Her voice turned fierce. "Since you won't accept gentleness, then taste your great-aunt's ravages of love!"
Her hands ruffled Itsuki's hair mercilessly, turning it into a complete mess.
As a junior, Itsuki couldn't resist forcefully. He could only endure the so-called "love" with a frustrated, deadpan expression.
Is this what Mito was like when she was young? She's almost as terrifying as Tsunade—definitely scary!
That said… despite the bullying, Itsuki noticed her chest was broad and comforting, though her body temperature felt unnaturally cold.
Well, of course. This was the Impure World Reincarnation—put nicely, "resurrection of the dead." Put bluntly, "walking corpse."
Mito eventually let go and quickly smoothed his hair back into place.
"Alright, enough playing around. We need to hurry. If we're late, something bad might happen."
She straightened his appearance, then took his hand firmly.
"I bullied you just now, so here's some compensation. Let me show you the love of an elder. Think of me as your mother if you like."
She winked mischievously and tugged him forward, heading toward the battlefield.
Itsuki was speechless. Her personality had shifted three times in a matter of minutes.
At first, she was a kind elder. Then she turned into a fiery-tempered sister. Now she was acting like a gentle, caring woman next door.
Which was the real Mito? Or was she simply all of them at once?
Either way, he pushed the thought aside. The Konoha Collapse Plan hadn't ended yet. That was the priority.
Through Kagura's Mind's Eye, Mito already knew the situation. The Third Hokage was still holding on against Hashirama and Tobirama.
But Hiruzen was old, far past his prime. Even if he could survive for a while, he couldn't last forever.
By the time Mito and Itsuki arrived back at the arena, what they saw made Mito's face darken.
"It seems I'm late."
She sighed, then darted forward in a flash.
With sheer force, she shattered the Four Purple Flame Formation.
The Anbu outside the barrier—who had basically been acting like live commentators—were stunned.
Before they even realized what happened, Mito had already rushed inside.
In another flicker, Itsuki appeared beside them.
"You guys deal with Orochimaru's subordinates. I'll go inside to help." He pointed at the Four Sound Ninja, who had been exposed after the barrier was broken, then dashed into the arena.
The Anbu, recognizing Itsuki, breathed a sigh of relief.
They couldn't interfere in a Kage-level battle, but they could at least deal with Orochimaru's henchmen. Or so they thought.
Unfortunately, it didn't go that way.
The Sound Four easily outmaneuvered them, making the Anbu look utterly pathetic.
Inside the broken barrier, the Third Hokage had already summoned the Shinigami with the Reaper Death Seal.
Using his shadow clones, he was preparing to capture the Impure World Reincarnated forms of Hashirama and Tobirama.
The sudden breaking of the barrier happened so smoothly and quickly that neither Hiruzen nor Orochimaru had noticed in time.
"This is bad. Why are they back?" Orochimaru frowned, his golden eyes narrowing as he sensed Mito and Itsuki's chakra.
Danzo was supposed to keep them busy. Plus, he had even enlisted one of the Ryuchi Cave sages! How had they been dealt with so quickly?
If it had just been Mito, Orochimaru still had ways to handle her.
But with Itsuki here as well, he had no choice but to consider retreat.
He still had trump cards, but forcing the fight any further would be pointless.
"Stop, monkey!" Mito didn't even spare Orochimaru a glance.
She went straight past him to stand beside the Third Hokage. Her sigh carried deep regret.
"It's Lady Mito!" Hiruzen's eyes widened, stunned for a moment.
Seeing the young version of Mito was disorienting—like time itself had been reversed.
But he quickly steadied himself, smiling faintly. "Since you're from the Uzumaki clan, you must see what technique I've used. This is the same sealing jutsu the Fourth Hokage used on the Nine-Tails. Once invoked, it cannot be taken back."
"No… it can still be stopped. But…" Mito hesitated, her expression conflicted.
The Reaper Death Seal could indeed be interrupted before the sealing hand strikes.
But doing so would consume a massive portion of the user's soul.
Given the Third Hokage's age and frailty, even if the process was interrupted, he would likely die instantly.
And even if he survived the interruption… he would not live much longer.
