Chapter 127 - Chapter 126: Light Academy Challenge Week — We Don’t Accept Trash!

"Song Jie?"

Everyone turned toward the voice, and their gazes instantly locked onto him.

Ever since Song Jie had taken first place in the Summoning Element Academy, his name had spread throughout the entire Main Campus!

After all, for a newly promoted student to defeat a senior and seize the top position was simply unheard of.

Song Jie, now used to such attention, turned his head calmly and asked, "What's the process for this assessment?"

"First, you register," Lu You explained, "then wait for the instructors to notify you. They'll test your performance and assign scores based on your reactions and overall results."

"Then let's go register first," Song Jie said casually.

The two soon arrived at the registration area, completed the process, and went to the waiting section.

At that moment, murmurs spread among the crowd.

"What the heck? Why is he registering too?"

"Isn't he from the Summoning Element Academy? Why is he registering for our Light Element Academy's Challenge Week?"

"Wait—don't tell me he transferred to our Light Element Academy?"

The more they thought about it, the more it made sense. Otherwise, he wouldn't even be eligible to register.

Lu You sat next to Song Jie, feeling incredibly tense as countless curious gazes bore into him.

"Song Jie, you really are a dual cultivator!"

He had been skeptical before, but seeing Song Jie's name on the registration list erased all doubt.

"I never lie," Song Jie replied with a faint smile.

"Then what place are you aiming for in this Challenge Week?"

"First place, I guess."

"Ah!?" Lu You nearly choked. He hadn't expected Song Jie to say that so casually.

Everyone knew how powerful Song Jie's Light Element offense was, but no one had ever seen his defensive abilities.

"Song Jie, our Light Element assessment focuses entirely on defense. You can't attack," Lu You reminded him.

"I know."

Seeing Song Jie's calm expression, Lu You could only sigh. With his combat ability, getting into the top ten was definitely possible—but taking first place was another story entirely.

Their conversation, however, didn't escape the attention of those nearby.

Soon, whispers spread.

"So that's why he's allowed to participate—he's a dual cultivator of the Summoning and Light Elements!"

"But wait… since when was dual cultivation even possible!?"

No one could believe it. Dual cultivation wasn't something anyone at the Pearl Institute had ever achieved.

Meanwhile, Song Jie quietly observed the ongoing assessments.

There were five instructors—four men and one woman—testing each participant. They would take turns attacking with magic to measure the student's strength, reaction speed, and adaptability.

Song Jie noticed that the instructors were skilled enough to precisely control their magic output, ensuring the students weren't seriously hurt while still creating pressure.

He glanced at Lu You, who was looking rather nervous. "No need to panic. Just react to their rhythm and trust your instincts."

"Huh?" Lu You blinked, confused.

"Here, let me explain." Song Jie smiled and began breaking down the instructors' attack patterns.

Lu You listened carefully and realized Song Jie's analysis made perfect sense.

"I get it now!" Lu You nodded, feeling much more confident.

When it was finally his turn, Lu You's performance showed visible improvement. Afterward, he returned to Song Jie, grinning ear to ear.

"Song Jie, thank you!"

"Don't mention it. Just send me a Star River Vein or two as thanks," Song Jie teased.

"Ah!?"

"I'm kidding."

Just then, one of the examiners called out, "Next, Song Jie!"

"Coming." Song Jie stood up and walked to the center where the five instructors awaited him.

All eyes immediately followed.

The man in the center—a middle-aged instructor with a neatly trimmed goatee—spoke first. "You must be the student who cultivates two magic elements, correct?"

Song Jie nodded.

The man's sharp gaze didn't waver. "From the beginning of Pearl Institute's history, no student has ever cultivated two elements. I hope you can live up to the special exception we've made for you."

"I'll do my best," Song Jie replied calmly.

"Good," said the goateed man. "Then let us see the strength of your Light Element. Our Light Element path may be defensive in nature, but that doesn't mean we'll accept any trash."

Even though they had heard of Song Jie's power, these instructors weren't easily impressed. To pass, he had to demonstrate exceptional defensive skill—not just flashy Light Element techniques.

"Can we start?" Song Jie asked, a hint of impatience in his tone.

"As you wish," the goateed man said coldly. He then gestured subtly to the others, signaling them to begin.

Song Jie already knew the testing pattern, so everything proceeded just as he expected.

"Do you think Song Jie can take first place here too?" someone in the crowd whispered.

"Are you kidding? Getting over 90 points is almost impossible! Only one student in the entire Light Element Academy has ever scored above that."

"That's true."

While the students whispered, the instructors launched their spells simultaneously.

Song Jie instantly raised a Holy Shield, blocking a fierce Fiery Fist attack from one of the instructors.

However—

Before the shield could stabilize, another instructor completed a Lightning Element Star Chart, and a bolt of lightning struck down from above!

Crack!

The Holy Shield shattered instantly!

Though the soul seed within his Light Element buffered part of the impact, the shield still disintegrated.

Song Jie frowned. Based on the prior patterns, only one instructor was supposed to attack at a time—yet two had attacked simultaneously!

They were clearly targeting him.

But being targeted was something Song Jie feared least.

If that was how they wanted to play, then he'd give them a real surprise.

"This kid's Light Element must have a spirit seed," the Lightning Element instructor said, smirking. "Otherwise, he'd have been knocked flying by my bolt."

"Isn't this a bit too much?" the female instructor asked hesitantly.

"Too much?" Ren Tao—the goateed man—snorted. "He's a dual cultivator. If he doesn't have the strength to back that title, he doesn't deserve the privilege."

The others said nothing. Ren Tao was in charge here, and they had no right to argue.

Ren Tao's expression darkened. "Don't go all out yet. Give him some breathing room. Let's see how long he can endure."
