Chapter 130 - Chapter 129: This Substance Is a Little Special. Where Is My Galaxy Vein?

As Song Jie stepped out of the taxi, a woman in professional attire standing at the entrance of the Magic Association walked up to him.

"Excuse me, are you Mr. Song Jie?"

Song Jie nodded.

"Please follow me."

The woman led him through the glass doors and into the Magic Association's main hall.

Soon, they took the elevator up to a secure laboratory floor.

Song Jie's arrival immediately drew the attention of the people inside.

"You're here?" Ling Tiancheng greeted him with a warm smile and motioned for him to come over.

"General Ling."

"Sit down first. I'd like to have a proper talk with you," Ling Tiancheng said.

"Alright."

Song Jie sat opposite him in the lounge area while the woman in professional attire poured tea for both of them.

Ling Tiancheng took a sip and said, "I have a good relationship with Dean Xiao of your Pearl Institute. After you graduate, would you be interested in joining our military?"

"I'll consider your offer, General Ling," Song Jie replied politely but without commitment.

Ling Tiancheng chuckled, clearly not expecting an immediate answer.

"Well, let's get to the main point. I didn't tell you everything over the phone earlier because I wanted you to experience it firsthand before making a decision."

Song Jie nodded, listening quietly.

"Do you know why those Bloodthirsty Ants wouldn't approach the silver-white flowers?" Ling Tiancheng asked.

"Why?"

Ling Tiancheng leaned back slightly and said, "Because there's a special substance in the petals of these silver-white flowers. This substance is extremely toxic to Bloodthirsty Ants."

Song Jie stayed silent, curious about where this was going.

Ling Tiancheng continued, "After our research, we discovered that the fragrance emitted by the silver-white flowers is an invisible poison to Bloodthirsty Ants.

Once they inhale it, the toxins paralyze their organs, leading to death within moments. That's why they fear these flowers so much."

"However," he added, "the scent has no harmful effect on humans, only on demon species."

Song Jie nodded thoughtfully. Ling Tiancheng's explanation finally made sense of the ants' behavior.

He then asked, "Does it affect other demon species too? Will my Summoned Beast be harmed?"

"The fragrance affects other demons as well, but not as severely as it does Bloodthirsty Ants," Ling Tiancheng explained.

"As long as they're not exposed for too long, their bodies will naturally expel the toxins after some time."

Hearing that, Song Jie felt relieved.

"General Ling, so what have you developed based on this?" he asked curiously.

Ling Tiancheng smiled. "Based on the substance extracted from the silver-white flower, our team has developed a new type of toxic compound. What's special about it is that its toxicity can scale according to the strength of the one using it."

Song Jie recalled what Ling Tiancheng had told him before and asked, "This compound can only be used for plant-type Summoned Beasts, right?"

"Not only that," Ling Tiancheng replied. "It can now also be used by plant-type or poison-type mages."

Song Jie nodded again. "Can I see the final results?"

He didn't want to test it directly on Little Green—he wasn't about to let his Summoned Beast be treated as an experiment.

Ling Tiancheng stood up. "Yes, come with me."

Song Jie followed him through the hallway toward one of the testing labs.

Little Green itself had a poison attribute. If this special substance could enhance that further, its strength would skyrocket!

Soon, they reached a large laboratory. Ling Tiancheng called out a name, and a man in a white lab coat stepped out.

"Commander!"

"Are you available? I need you to conduct an experiment."

"Yes, sir."

The man glanced briefly at Song Jie, instantly understanding what this was about.

A few minutes later, the three entered a wide, open testing chamber.

"Bring in two demons," Ling Tiancheng ordered.

"Yes!"

Moments later, two One-Eyed Magic Wolves were brought into the room, their eyes glowing faintly red as they snarled menacingly.

"Show him a demonstration," Ling Tiancheng instructed.

The researcher nodded, stepped forward, and stood calmly in front of the raging wolves.

The wolves bared their fangs and lunged—

—but the next second, a faint fragrance spread through the air.

The wolves froze mid-step, their eyes rolling back before collapsing to the ground, dead!

Song Jie's eyes widened slightly. This must be the demonstration Ling Tiancheng had mentioned.

"This man is one of the researchers who worked on the silver-white flower project," Ling Tiancheng explained.

"He personally fused with the compound and demonstrated its power. What you just saw was the effect of that fusion."

Song Jie was stunned. "He personally experimented on himself?"

Ling Tiancheng nodded.

Song Jie couldn't help but be impressed. That was true dedication to research—completely unlike that lunatic Lu Nian.

"So, after fusing with the compound, it can attack through fragrance?" Song Jie asked.

"Yes," Ling Tiancheng confirmed. "As long as a demon inhales even a trace, the toxin in their body will detonate and kill them from within."

"Does this compound have any side effects?"

"None that we've observed," Ling Tiancheng said confidently.

Hearing that, Song Jie felt much more reassured.

"Come with me," Ling Tiancheng said, turning to leave the testing area. Song Jie followed him back to the lounge.

After a short while, an assistant arrived with two thumb-sized glass bottles. The liquid inside shimmered faintly with a pale green glow.

"This substance isn't publicly available yet," Ling Tiancheng explained. "But if it were released, its market value would be astronomical."

He handed the bottles to Song Jie. "These two bottles are a reward for you — in recognition of what you've done for You City."

As soldiers, their duty was to protect the people. But they also knew when someone had gone above and beyond.

Song Jie nodded firmly. "Thank you, General Ling."

"I have other matters to attend to," Ling Tiancheng said, standing. "If you have more questions, you can ask her—she'll help you understand how to use the compound safely."

With that, he left.

Song Jie turned to the woman in the white lab coat and spent over an hour asking her detailed questions about proper dosage, fusion compatibility, and safety limits.

When he finally stepped out of the Magic Association, the sky had already turned dark.

He found a hotel nearby, checked into a room, and sat down on the sofa.

Then, he took out his phone and called Mu Tingying.

As soon as the call connected, he said coldly, "You have half an hour to get to Ruoyun Hotel. Otherwise, you know the consequences."

Before Mu Tingying could respond, he hung up.

Her expression stiffened as she stared at her phone.

"It's him..."

She clenched her small hand tightly, her face pale.

After a moment of hesitation, she took a deep breath. She had no choice — Song Jie held something that could destroy her reputation.

Half an hour later, Mu Tingying stood nervously outside the hotel room door. She knocked three times.

"Knock, knock, knock!"

The door opened — Song Jie was standing there.

"Come in," he said simply, walking back into the room.

Mu Tingying stepped inside, closing the door behind her, and faced him.

"How long has it been? Where are my two Galaxy Veins?" Song Jie asked, his gaze sharp.

Mu Tingying bit her lip, her voice trembling slightly. "Two Galaxy Veins are worth more than two hundred million... How could I possibly ask my family for that right now..."
