"So, you can't produce two Galaxy Veins then?" Song Jie asked, looking up at Mu Tingying.
Mu Tingying nodded, then turned around, presenting her butt to him.
"I can't produce two Galaxy Veins right now. If you want to hit me, go ahead!" she said, glancing at him with defiance.
"When did I ever say I was going to hit your butt?" Song Jie blinked, genuinely surprised.
But since she had invited it herself, he decided to play along.
"Come a little closer," he said calmly.
Mu Tingying took two small steps back, stopping right in front of him.
Slap!
With a sharp smack, the sound echoed in the room. Mu Tingying let out an involuntary soft "hmm," her body trembling slightly as she recalled a strange, familiar feeling.
"This one's for not being able to produce a Galaxy Vein," Song Jie said. "If you still can't produce one next time, it won't be just a single hit."
"Then you might as well hit me a few more times—I can't produce one at all right now!" she retorted.
"Can't produce one, huh?"
Before she could react, Song Jie grabbed her wrist and pulled her down onto the sofa.
Then came another smack. And another. And another.
Slap!
"Hmm… hmm… hmm…"
Song Jie frowned, narrowing his eyes. Something didn't feel right.
"What's wrong with you? Why are you making those kinds of sounds?" he asked suspiciously.
Mu Tingying's face flushed all the way to her ears. Even she didn't know why she was reacting like that.
"I-I-I…" She stammered, utterly embarrassed. People had always treated her with respect and caution. But Song Jie—this guy—actually dared to hit her! And worse, a part of her… liked it.
"You don't have some strange fetish, do you?" Song Jie teased, smirking slightly.
"I don't!" she snapped, her ears burning red.
"Since you don't have a Galaxy Vein, then just go back for now. I don't have that kind of fetish," Song Jie said casually.
"I…!!" Mu Tingying clenched her fists, glaring at him, but she still stood up reluctantly.
"What? You still want me to hit your butt?" Song Jie asked with a grin.
"I…!!" Mu Tingying's pretty face turned crimson. Words completely failed her.
"If you want me to do something to you, it's not impossible," Song Jie said with a wicked smile. "Just add another Galaxy Vein."
"You…!!"
Mu Tingying pointed angrily at him, trembling with fury. Not only had he taken advantage of her, now he was extorting her for more!
Song Jie leaned back lazily. "If you don't leave, I'll hit your butt again."
At that, Mu Tingying froze.
She… didn't actually want to leave.
But when she saw his mischievous smile, she realized she was being played again.
"Hmph!" she huffed coldly, slamming the door shut behind her.
After she left, Song Jie let out a long sigh.
He honestly hadn't expected that reaction from her.
When he hit her, it had almost felt like he was rewarding her!
Originally, he had just wanted to get a Galaxy Vein and break through to the Advanced Level. But clearly, that wasn't going to happen easily.
"Looks like I'll have to earn the Galaxy Vein myself," Song Jie muttered.
When he returned to Magic City, he immediately went to find Lingling. The fastest way to make money was through bounty missions.
At the Qingtian Hunter Agency, Lingling was typing away at her computer.
When she saw Song Jie walk in, she only glanced at him briefly before turning her head away.
"Lingling, long time no see!" Song Jie greeted cheerfully.
Lingling ignored him completely, turning her computer screen to the other side.
Old Bao, sitting behind the counter, simply smiled without saying a word.
Song Jie knew she was mad at him for not visiting her in so long.
He walked over to Old Bao. "Got any high-paying bounties lately?"
At that, Lingling subtly turned her head to listen.
"What's wrong? Short on money?" Old Bao asked.
"Very short on money," Song Jie admitted.
"There are some, but I'm not sure you can handle them alone."
"If it's too difficult, forget it. It's just me, after all," Song Jie said, glancing at Lingling again.
She immediately turned away.
Old Bao chuckled. "There's a job worth two million yuan, but you might not be able to complete it alone."
"That's too bad," Song Jie sighed. Then, turning to Lingling, he added, "Lingling, how about it? Two million yuan—we split one million each!"
Lingling didn't even look up.
Song Jie sat down in front of her, leaning closer. "Come on, Lingling. Two million! Aren't you even a little tempted?"
Lingling finally looked at him. "Do you think I, a Seven-Star Hunter, haven't seen the world?"
"Oh, come on. I was training before, and after I came back, I just got busy with other stuff. That's why I didn't come to find you," he explained.
Lingling crossed her arms, still ignoring him.
Song Jie leaned closer with a grin. "How about this—I'll give you a kiss. Don't be mad anymore."
Lingling turned away, extending a palm to push his face aside.
"Not angry anymore?" he teased, tilting his head.
She glared at him with a look of utter disgust.
To get him off her back, she reluctantly nodded.
"Then let's go take this mission first!" Song Jie said happily.
Lingling sighed but started typing quickly. Within seconds, the bounty information appeared on the screen.
"Lingling is the best!" Song Jie praised. Then, quick as lightning, he leaned in and planted a wet kiss on her cheek.
Lingling froze in disgust, immediately wiping it off with a tissue.
"Alright, let's move out!" Song Jie grinned.
He couldn't afford a Galaxy Vein yet—but step by step, he'd get there.
Over the next month, Song Jie and Lingling were constantly on the move, completing bounty after bounty.
With Lingling's intelligence and Song Jie's strength, they were faster and more efficient than anyone else.
In just a month, they had each earned over five million yuan.
When they returned to the Qingtian Hunter Agency, a middle-aged man was already waiting inside.
Old Bao emerged from the back room, holding a cup of hot tea. "Perfect timing. Come and hear this commission."
Song Jie and Lingling sat down on either side of the nervous-looking man.
"Go ahead, sir," Old Bao said gently.
The man's eyes darted between them, full of panic. "This morning, when I woke up, I found minced meat in my wife's pocket. I think it might be… human minced meat!"
Everyone froze.
Old Bao frowned. "Continue."
"I'm not entirely sure what's going on," the man said, trembling. "But I can confirm—it wasn't animal meat. The texture of the skin… it was just like human flesh."
