The man in black laughed wildly, his laughter echoing through the night.
He sneered, "Everyone who's ever said that to me has grass growing over their graves!"
Song Jie remained calm. His body began to change, and a dark, surging aura enveloped him!
When the man in black saw Song Jie's aura rise, his smile disappeared, replaced by a deep frown.
A bad premonition gnawed at his heart.
Without hesitation, he tried to activate the poison within Song Jie's body—
but nothing happened.
No reaction at all. It was as though the toxin had lost all effect.
After Song Jie entered his Demonification state, the toxins inside him were completely nullified. Not only was he unaffected, but his power skyrocketed!
"What kind of monster are you!?" the man in black demanded, staring in disbelief at the transformed Song Jie before him.
He had been a professional killer for years, but he had never encountered anything like this.
It was impossible—terrifying!
"You only need to know one thing," Song Jie said coldly, "you'll die tonight."
Without another word, he attacked.
The man in black specialized in the Poison Element, with secondary mastery in Light and Space Elements.
But his strongest weapon—poison—was useless against Song Jie!
He quickly formed a defensive constellation. A golden brilliance filled the air as his Advanced Light Element defense spell activated—
Lightfall Canopy!
Golden motes of light gathered before him, forming a giant net of divine radiance.
However, just as the net fully materialized, a brilliant explosion of golden feathers tore through it in an instant!
The man in black was stunned.
Could a single Radiance attack hold such destructive power?
He had no time to think—he summoned his Shield Magic Tool to block the impact.
But Song Jie's attack, Burst Golden Rain, had already been unleashed.
Though only a low-tier Third-Level Radiance Spell, it had undergone six demonic transformations!
The result was devastating.
The blast shattered the shield tool instantly, hurling the man in black across the rooftop.
He crashed heavily to the ground, blood spilling from his mouth, his body covered in injuries.
"This guy… he's a devil!" the assassin gasped, eyes wide with horror.
Never before had a single Radiance spell inflicted such damage on him.
He had fought countless opponents—but this was different. This was fear.
Desperation took over.
The man in black turned to flee.
But Song Jie lunged forward, his movements as fast as a shadow.
"Lightfall Canopy! Light Scale Holy Armor!" the man in black roared.
Golden light cascaded down upon him, condensing into a radiant battle suit that glimmered in the moonlight.
Song Jie's fist met his defense head-on.
The man in black raised both arms to block—but Song Jie's hand still held a glowing Radiance!
With a sharp flick, the burst detonated point-blank.
Boom!
The man in black was blown backward like a broken kite, his protective armor fracturing and disintegrating upon impact.
He lay sprawled on the ground, staring at Song Jie in disbelief.
His Armor Magic Tool was capable of withstanding even low-tier Super-Level Magic…
and yet, it had been destroyed with a single blow!
If not for the armor, he would already be dead.
"Wait!" he shouted hoarsely as Song Jie approached, "Don't you want to know who sent me to assassinate you?"
Song Jie frowned. That question confirmed the man wasn't directly from the Black Vatican.
"Are you a killer?" he asked coldly.
"Yes… I'm an assassin hired by the Black Vatican to kill you," the man in black admitted, panting heavily.
"Then I don't need to know anything else," Song Jie said, his eyes sharp and emotionless. "You can die now."
The man in black suddenly vanished—
Advanced Space Element Magic: Instant Movement!
"Trying to escape?" Song Jie's eyes narrowed. "It's not that easy."
He had already marked the assassin with a Demonic Mark earlier.
No one marked by him could escape.
In the distance, the assassin reappeared, gasping in relief.
He thought he was safe.
But before he could even look back—
Thud!
A heavy punch slammed into his face, shattering bone and sending him flying again.
He crashed hard, blood gushing from his mouth.
Song Jie landed before him, his eyes cold and merciless.
Anyone who tried to kill him—would die.
The assassin trembled, disbelief filling his fading eyes.
He had underestimated the young Intermediate Mage… and now he was paying the price.
"How do you remove the poison?" Song Jie demanded.
The man in black smirked weakly, blood trailing from his lips.
He said nothing.
Song Jie's expression didn't change. He crouched down and pulled a ring from the man's finger.
Immediately, the strange, concealing energy he'd felt before vanished.
"So it really was because of this ring," he muttered, slipping it into his system storage.
If not for his Demonic Mark, the man might have escaped completely.
With that, Song Jie turned and rushed toward Ai Tutu's location.
When he arrived, she was lying on the ground, drenched in sweat, her face pale as paper.
"Song Jie… it hurts so much," Ai Tutu whispered weakly.
Song Jie lifted her into his arms and summoned his Wind Riding Sky Eagle.
At the same time, he called for Li Rui.
"We'll talk on the way," he said firmly.
As they flew, Song Jie explained the situation. "She's been poisoned. Find someone who can heal using the Poison Element!"
Li Rui hesitated, then said, "Song Jie… maybe my blood can detoxify her."
Song Jie's eyes widened. "Your blood?"
"We can try," Li Rui said seriously. "I once read that Demonic Bloodlines are immune to all toxins. Their blood can even neutralize poisons."
"Then do it."
With no time to waste, Song Jie held Ai Tutu close while Li Rui pricked her fingertip, letting a drop of blood fall onto Ai Tutu's lips.
As the Wind Riding Sky Eagle soared through the night sky, Song Jie watched her anxiously.
"Song Jie… hurry… I'm scared…" Ai Tutu murmured weakly, clutching his collar as her consciousness began to fade…
