Chapter 151 - Chapter 150: Killer

"How I'll deal with you, I haven't decided yet. Once I do, you'll know."

After saying that, Song Jie continued, "Teacher Tang Yue, when will the money reach my hands?"

Tang Yue replied, "Once the investigation is complete, the reward will naturally be transferred to you."

"How long will that take?"

"I'm not sure either. It depends on how fast the paperwork moves—at least half a month," Tang Yue said.

"Half a month, then." Song Jie nodded. The money was guaranteed anyway, so waiting a bit longer didn't matter.

Moments later, members of the Judgment Association arrived to take away the captured Black Vatican members.

Tang Yue turned to Song Jie. "Do you want me to take you back home?"

"No need. You all have a busy night ahead. Just get some rest once you're done," Song Jie said with a smile.

"At least you have some manners, kid."

With that, Tang Yue left with the others.

Song Jie summoned his Wind Riding Sky Eagle, letting it carry him back toward home.

Midway, his phone suddenly vibrated—someone had sent him a message.

He glanced at the screen. It was from Ai Tutu.

But something felt wrong.

The message wasn't actually from Ai Tutu—it was from someone using her name.

[Ai Tutu: She's with me now. If you want to save her, come to this address. Don't let me see you bring anyone, or else…]

Song Jie's expression hardened.

He hadn't expected the other party to target Ai Tutu!

Immediately, he realized this must be connected to the person Mu Yuang had warned him about earlier.

[Ai Tutu: Lose that hunter tailing you, then come alone. If I see him following, you can forget about seeing her again.]

[Song Jie: Wait for me!]

Without hesitation, Song Jie opened the address and ordered the Wind Riding Sky Eagle to change direction—heading straight for an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city.

At that moment, two figures stood atop the tallest building in the factory complex.

The black-clad figure dimmed his phone screen and turned his gaze toward the bound Ai Tutu beside him.

He was the one who had just sent that message.

"Who are you? Why did you capture me? Let me go, or my dad and my brother will never let you off!" Ai Tutu shouted furiously, glaring at him.

The black-clad figure wore a dark mask that hid most of his face, leaving only a pair of piercing emerald-green eyes visible.

"Don't make so much noise," he said with a mocking tone. "Or I might not be able to control myself…"

Ai Tutu immediately went silent.

She wasn't stupid—her current situation didn't allow her to provoke the enemy.

Song Jie had warned her before that there were dangerous people outside and not to wander at night.

But as a Mage, how could she be afraid of a mere "pervert"?

After being stuck in seclusion for so long, she just wanted to go out for some fun… but she hadn't expected to end up like this.

She didn't think she'd done anything wrong—so why was disaster finding her?!

The black-clad figure ignored her entirely. He walked to the edge of the rooftop, his gaze fixed on the dark skyline ahead.

He was an assassin from an overseas organization, hired to eliminate Song Jie.

Since the Black Vatican was under strict surveillance by the Judgment Association, their movements were heavily restricted. That was why they had commissioned his organization to do the killing.

Originally, the assassin was supposed to meet the Blue Deacon in Modu, but after hearing that the Blue Deacon had been captured tonight, he received immediate orders to execute the assassination.

Knowing that Song Jie was being secretly followed by a hunter, the assassin used Ai Tutu as bait to draw him away.

In truth, he hadn't come to Dragon Country just for Song Jie. A mere Intermediate Mage wasn't worth a full High-level assassin's effort.

He had other missions here—so he couldn't afford to expose himself too early.

Still, killing a promising young genius thrilled him.

He had slain many so-called "geniuses" before. And every one of them—no matter how talented—had still died by his hand.

After some time, he spotted a dark shadow approaching in the night sky.

It was Song Jie riding the Wind Riding Sky Eagle.

The assassin narrowed his eyes, watching as they approached.

The moonlight was bright enough for Ai Tutu to recognize Song Jie immediately.

"Song Jie!" she cried.

Song Jie's eyes turned cold as he stared at the black-clad figure. "I'm here. Release her."

The assassin chuckled and, without a word, pushed Ai Tutu off the rooftop.

Ai Tutu hadn't expected that—she screamed in horror as she fell.

She didn't even have a boyfriend yet!

She hadn't had her fill of life!

She didn't want to die!!!

Without hesitation, Song Jie dove straight after her.

As Ai Tutu fell backward through the air, she saw Song Jie descending rapidly toward her.

In seconds, his arms wrapped around her tightly, and together they plunged toward the ground.

"Song Jie…" she gasped weakly.

"It's okay," he said reassuringly.

Moments later, they landed safely.

"I'm… still alive?" Ai Tutu blinked, disoriented, glancing around.

"You're fine." Song Jie smiled, setting her down gently.

Her breathing was shaky—she was still terrified from the near-death fall.

Suddenly—

Two of the buttons on her shirt popped open, revealing a sudden glimpse of soft, fair skin right before Song Jie's eyes.

"Ahhh!!" Ai Tutu yelped, quickly crossing her arms to cover herself.

"Don't look!"

"I wasn't looking! You just popped right in front of me," Song Jie said helplessly.

Ai Tutu glared at him but said nothing.

Just then, the Wind Riding Sky Eagle landed nearby.

"Get on its back and leave here first," Song Jie instructed firmly.

Ai Tutu shook her head stubbornly. "No, let's go together!"

"His target is me," Song Jie said with a calm, confident smile. "Don't worry. I'll be fine."

"…Then I'll wait for you," Ai Tutu finally said, understanding she'd only be a burden if she stayed. She climbed onto the Sky Eagle's back.

As soon as she took off, the black-clad assassin leapt from the rooftop and landed smoothly in front of Song Jie.

He smiled. "A real hero saving a beauty. Too bad she won't live much longer."

Song Jie's eyes narrowed. "What did you do to her?"

"Nothing much," the assassin replied casually. "Just gave her a little poison."

Song Jie immediately turned to look toward Ai Tutu's distant figure, his brow furrowing sharply.

The assassin laughed darkly. "Before worrying about her, maybe you should worry about yourself."

Suddenly, Song Jie felt a strange weakness spreading through his body—his limbs growing heavy and unsteady.

"You and she are both poisoned now," the assassin said, grinning. "How romantic—you'll die together as doomed lovers."

Song Jie's gaze turned cold as ice.

"Whether we die together or not, you won't live long enough to see it… because you'll be the one dying soon."
