Song Jie watched the Totem Black Snake work so diligently and couldn't help but shake his head. It had been completely brainwashed by capitalists!
Leng Qing's attire was always of a calm and refined style—never overly revealing. Yet her composed temperament suited such clothing perfectly.
Sitting there, she exuded the aura of a powerful female CEO, making people want to take a few extra glances.
At that moment, Song Jie was thoroughly enjoying the sight of Leng Qing interrogating a prisoner. The air was filled with her unique, elegant fragrance.
By noon, other Adjudicators delivered their meals.
Since the interrogation would continue in the afternoon, Leng Qing and Song Jie ate together in the lounge, planning to resume after a short break.
Song Jie hadn't eaten breakfast and was starving by then, so he wolfed down his food.
Leng Qing glanced at him, and a faint smile appeared on her usually serene face. She broke her chopsticks apart and ate slowly, chewing carefully while reviewing documents.
After finishing, Song Jie leaned back in his chair and let out a satisfied sigh. His stomach was finally full.
Leng Qing hadn't eaten much, so by the time he put down his chopsticks, she was done as well.
After a brief rest, Leng Qing said, "Time's almost up. Let's continue the interrogation."
Song Jie nodded, stood up, and stretched comfortably.
Leng Qing gathered her documents; she had already reviewed most of them and was ready to continue.
"Wait, don't move, Sister," Song Jie suddenly said.
Leng Qing froze, startled but obediently stopped moving.
Song Jie walked over, closing the distance between them. His face drew nearer, causing Leng Qing to instinctively want to step back.
But when she saw him extend his hand, her confusion turned to surprise as he gently picked a grain of rice off her cheek.
"Sister, you had a grain of rice on your face. Were you saving it for dinner?" Song Jie teased with a grin.
"It must have gotten there while I was reading the documents," Leng Qing replied, quickly turning away. Her face slightly flushed, she hurried out of the lounge.
She didn't know what was happening.
Just now, her heart had suddenly started racing so fast that she could still feel the warmth on her cheeks.
Over the next few days, Song Jie's life followed a simple pattern—commuting between the Judgment Association and home.
Today, however, he made time to visit the Lin'an Magic Association.
He had already booked an awakening appointment, so he came to complete it.
As soon as he entered the building, a woman in professional attire approached.
"You're Mr. Song, correct?"
"That's me."
"Please, follow me."
She led him into the elevator and took him to the floor where Magic Element awakenings were conducted.
"Teacher Li, Mr. Song has arrived," she said respectfully.
A man wearing black-rimmed glasses stepped out of a nearby room.
"Please, come with me. I'll guide you through the awakening process," he said politely.
"As you know, the auxiliary tools only provide assistance. We can't guarantee a hundred percent success rate," the man added with a nervous smile.
"That's fine," Song Jie said calmly. "I'm just giving it a try. If I succeed, great. If not, it's no big deal."
The man nodded, adjusted some equipment, and soon signaled for Song Jie to begin.
Song Jie entered the awakening chamber and approached the awakening stone in the center.
This would be his third magic awakening. Placing his hand on the stone, he closed his eyes, focusing on the changes within his spiritual world.
Time passed slowly. Then—
A faint glow of stardust appeared within his spiritual sea!
However, the stardust merged with a dim, mysterious force!
Song Jie's eyes widened with excitement. This was exactly the Chaos Element he desired!
The Chaos Element's hallmark was its ability to absorb destructive power and unleash it back with amplified strength!
He had originally considered awakening another offensive element, but the Chaos Element suited him perfectly.
No matter how powerful a spell was, every element had its limits. But the Chaos Element was different.
The stronger the enemy, the stronger he became.
The more enemies there were, the stronger he grew.
That was the power of Chaos!
Combined with his unique transformation, the potential was unimaginable. The very thought of it filled him with excitement.
After returning from the Magic Association, Song Jie found Tang Yue waiting for him.
"Come with me," she said tiredly, dark circles under her eyes. It looked like she hadn't slept in days.
Without asking questions, Song Jie closed the door and followed her.
"Aren't you curious where I'm taking you?" Tang Yue asked, glancing at him.
Song Jie smiled. "If Sister Yue wants to tell me, she will. No need to ask."
Tang Yue chuckled softly, then motioned for him to get in the car. They drove off into the night.
After a while, they arrived at a large lake. Tang Yue's gaze remained fixed on the water's surface.
Song Jie followed silently as they boarded a small wooden boat.
"I brought you here to tell you something," Tang Yue said while rowing.
"What is it?"
Tang Yue turned, her beautiful eyes meeting his. "You must've heard the recent news—about a huge creature appearing in the city."
"I have," Song Jie replied.
Tang Yue began explaining the ancient legend of the Totem Black Snake.
Feigning a little fear, Song Jie asked, "Are you saying that the creature in the news is actually beneath this lake?"
Tang Yue nodded. "Don't worry—it won't harm anyone."
"So those online reports are fake?" Song Jie asked.
"Of course," she said firmly. "Someone must be framing it."
Suddenly, her phone lit up. She checked the message, and her expression darkened. Rage flashed in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" Song Jie asked.
"Two bodies were discovered. After verification, they were confirmed to have been corroded by a large snake's venom," Tang Yue said, gripping her phone tightly as anger surged within her.
She refused to believe it. The Totem Black Snake would never harm humans!
Putting her phone away, Tang Yue looked at Song Jie. "Let's go to the Magic Association—now."
Song Jie nodded. He knew she was seeking justice.
They returned to shore, got into the car, and drove toward the Lin'an Magic Association.
Tang Yue gripped the steering wheel tightly. "Aren't you going to ask why we're going there?"
"I already said I'd help Sister Yue," Song Jie replied with a grin. "I don't need to ask—I'll just do my best."
Tang Yue didn't respond, but his words gave her an unexpected sense of reassurance.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the Magic Association once more.
Song Jie stepped out of the car, amused by the coincidence—he'd been here both day and night.
"Let's go," Tang Yue said briskly, striding into the building.
Song Jie followed close behind.
