Chapter 1 - Rebirth

Crackle! Crackle! Crackle!

Crimson slithered like serpents in the dark clouds that covered the calm moon and stopping it from brightening the world. The red thunder flickered an ominous shade on the world as it crackled in the shape of endless snakes.

Shrik!

Suddenly, a golden lightning streak flew upwards. It struck the sky and parted the clouds, creating a wide hole within them. The blue moon appeared in the sky and flooded the world with its blue.

At the peak of the sharp rocky mountains covered by the haunting jungle of ferocious wildlife stood a tall man. He wore dark animal hide and a dark cape of wolf fur. A necklace of bones and fangs hung around his neck, and his muscular body was fashioned with scars and tribal marks.

His long raven hair moved wildly with the wind, and his piercing red eyes were locked onto the giant hole within the clouds. He raised his right hand, and just as he did so, a rumble rang within the mountains as something came towards him.

Thuk!

He clenched his right hand into a fist and caught the golden streak, which turned out to be a spear with a dark blue spearhead.

"Are you mad at the heavens? Haden?" Someone spoke from behind.

Haden turned around towards the lean man who had green eyes and short blue hair and gave him a faint smile while pointing at the moon.

"I did not want my child's birth to be under this gloom," he said softly as a smile appeared on his face, a fatherly smile.

"Heh. Is that so? Why are you here instead of being beside Lara then?" The man questioned.

However, Haden didn't answer and simply turned his head in the direction of where his wife, Lara, was at the moment. His eyes pierced through everything, and his gaze landed on her. She had a painful expression as she went through the pain that came with childbirth. Yet he could see the happiness that burned much deeper and furiously in her eyes.

"Don't tell me that the strongest warrior of the Dhaevrak is frightened to be a father?" The man spoke sarcastically, his lips arching in a smirk as he decreased the distance between them.

Haden looked at him and heaved a sigh as he spoke, "I am scared, Jura." he paused for a moment, letting the cold breeze hit him as he continued, "I am strong because I have always killed... How can someone like me be a father?"

His words silenced both; Jura's smirk vanished as he remembered the blood and flesh he had carved in his path of strength for which they were known. He lowered his head and spoke darkly, "We did it for our survival."

Haden placed a hand on his shoulder and spoke with a smile, "Yes, you are right. But..."

Jura looked at him and gave a silent nod as he began to walk away. The small pebbles rolled under his feet. He halted his steps for a moment, "I would have regretted it if I had not picked up the bow back then... I wish you would not regret what you are doing now," he added before continuing his steps.

His departing words stilled in the air as Haden traced the scar at his chest. He was strong—Strongest even. He could win any battle, any war, but this was no battle... he couldn't win just by taking the lives of the ones before him. He was about to shape a life.

"It's just a child," He mumbled to himself and looked at the tip of his spear that gleamed slightly as the moonlight fell on it.

A sigh escaped his lips, and he vanished.

"Where's that stupid husband of hers?" An old woman yelled as she caressed the hand of a woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes, who had a painful expression on her face.

Screams and groans left Lara's mouth as the pain of childbirth flooded in. But inwardly, she was praying for her child to be fine and healthy.

Suddenly, she felt the pain shoot up drastically; her lips parted to scream, but before she could, the pain decreased.

She breathed tiredly as she looked at the tribe's doctor, who held her child in a blanket of black wolf fur.

The doctor looked back at her with a smile and spoke, "It's a boy."

The child opened his tiny eyes, adjusting to the light, but suddenly he felt something amiss. He looked around himself and tried to yell, but no words came out, 'Where the fuck am I? And why am I so small?'

"Why is he not crying?" The old woman questioned as she looked at the child with worried eyes. Lara's expression also turned worried as she looked at him with tired eyes.

The child also looked at her with his tiny eyes.

'Who are these people?' He thought, 'And why are they dressed like this? A cosplay band? Is this a drama of some sort?'

However, suddenly a strange thought came to his mind, 'Wait! Did I reincarnate like those novels and anime?'

But before he could continue his thoughts, his world spun and—

Thap!

—The doctor spanked him.

'W-What?!'

A burning sensation shot up from his butt as tears welled up at the corners of his eyes and he began to cry, "Wee! Wee! wee!"

'H-How dare she hit my sacred regions?!'

The old woman heaved a sigh of relief after hearing him cry.

Lara slowly raised her tired arms and spoke weakly, "Give me... my son..."

The doctor smiled faintly as she stepped closer to her, gave the child and spoke softly, "Be careful."

Lara nodded, took the child in her arms, and looked at him with a tired, motherly smile. She chuckled a little upon seeing how her son was looking at her with wide eyes.

But who would tell her that his eyes were not wide because of that?
