(RAFFAELE'S POV)
I can't believe she just did that… for me.
She just told my father—Salvatore Vipera, a man that grown men with guns are afraid to look in the eye—to stop pushing me. In front of everyone. At his own dinner table. In his own house. After everything she already put on the line tonight by telling them the truth about herself.
I look at her face as she helps me put my brace back on. As she works on the straps, my chest does something I wasn't prepared for.
She terrifies me sometimes.
Not in the way danger terrifies you.
In the way that certain people terrify you when you realize just how much space they've taken up inside your heart without permission, and how completely powerless you are to do anything about it.
I've fallen even deeper in love with this woman.
