Hidan's Kamui was nothing like Obito Uchiha's.
Where Obito's void was a barren wasteland of stone and nothingness, Hidan's private dimension was a hellscape, an endless ocean of blood stretching as far as the eye could see.
Isolated islands floated randomly across it like broken debris, and in the center stood a towering black tower.
At the very top, Hidan stood with his scythe strapped to his back, gazing down at his domain.
"…Tch. Pretty bleak. No life, no inhabitants, just a bloody sea and a creepy tower. Guess that's my aesthetic now."
Still, as the master of this dimension, he could feel everything within it. It wasn't useless.
"At least it works like a pocket dimension. Safer than anything else. Danzō, Orochimaru, hell, even Obito couldn't reach in here unless I let them."
He pulled out a vial, Shisui's blood and carefully placed it inside the tower.
This was his safe.
"Honestly, kinda regret handing one of Shisui's eyes to Itachi for safekeeping. Should've just dumped it in here. Way more convenient."
The space around him rippled, and a vortex spun open at his right eye. His body blurred and reformed back in the real world. The scarlet glow faded, leaving behind his usual dark pupils.
He licked his lips. Time to push the plan forward.
Later, outside his hideout, a familiar figure appeared.
Itachi Uchiha.
Hidan opened the door and stepped out. The look on Itachi's face told him what he already suspected... news had come.
"Danzō couldn't wait any longer," Itachi said flatly. "Shisui's death and the disappearance of his eyes have pushed him over the edge."
"This morning, he summoned me and issued the order… to exterminate the Uchiha clan. And… he told me to kill you as well."
Hidan chuckled under his mask. "Heh. Figures. The old bastard bypassed the Third Hokage and went straight for the jugular."
"Shisui's death rattled him so hard he wants results immediately. He's desperate for Sharingan stock to fuel his little experiments with Orochimaru."
Itachi's eyes darkened. He already knew Danzō and Orochimaru had ties. Too many whispers of "human research" had floated around for it to be coincidence.
"You asked him about Sasuke?" Hidan pressed.
"I did. He agreed. Sasuke will be spared. In the end, all the hatred will be directed at me."
Hidan nodded. "Good. Then it's simple. You don't need to slaughter them yourself. Just collect their blood for me."
"Cruel work like that? Leave it to me. If things go well, I might even have a shot at bringing some of them back later."
Itachi's gaze lingered on him, unreadable. "Then I leave Sasuke to you. Tonight, I'll bring you what you need."
"Don't worry," Hidan said with a grin. "I won't mess with Sasuke's path. His grudges with you are his own."
"My only promise is that Konoha won't touch him. The old man, the Third, will keep him safe too."
"That's enough." Itachi turned to leave.
"Wait."
Itachi paused, glancing back.
"Give me Shisui's eye," Hidan said. "If Danzō pulls another stunt, I'll use Kotoamatsukami on him."
Without hesitation, Itachi formed a seal. "Summoning."
A black crow flapped into the air, landing on his shoulder. Its left eye gleamed with Shisui's Sharingan. The bird hopped over to Hidan and settled there, preening its feathers calmly.
"…Right. A crow. Of course." Hidan scratched the back of his neck. "Problem is, I don't even know how to use this damn thing. What, do I poke Danzō with it and hope it works?"
"You don't need to understand," Itachi said coldly. "When the time comes, just make Danzō meet its gaze."
"Kotoamatsukami can only be used once every ten years. I've entrusted this crow to you. The rest is up to you."
"…"
Hidan stared at the crow. Great. A ten-year cooldown babysitter. Guess I'm on the hook until 10 years from now too. Fantastic.
Before he could retort, Itachi blurred into a flock of crows and vanished, leaving only feathers drifting in the air.
Hidan clenched his fists. "Tch. Always with the dramatic exits. I need to figure out my own cool exit move… Kamui's good, but can't exactly spam it in front of people yet."
After leaving, Hidan was already buzzing with excitement. He kept thinking about what kind of "surprise" the Uchiha clan would end up giving him.
Would their blood and eyes finally be enough to push him over the edge... to unlock the Eternal Mangekyō?
He was getting impatient. Just imagining it made his grin widen.
"If I really get the Eternal Mangekyō…" he muttered to himself, licking his lips,
"Then I can walk across this world without a damn thing to worry about. All those big names strutting around? Just more stepping stones. Heh."
The thought alone was enough to make him laugh under the mask.
---
That night, chaos unfolded in the Uchiha compound.
Itachi walked through the shadows, blade wet with blood, glass vials clinking softly in the pouch at his side.
He hadn't killed them all. He only needed their blood, and the bottles were filling fast.
Finally, after collecting the blood of his clan, Itachi entered the room of his parents, Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Mikoto.
Sasuke was still away at the Academy, unaware of the night his world would shatter.
Fugaku looked up at his eldest son, confusion flickering across his stern face.
"Itachi… what are you doing?" His voice held both annoyance and disbelief. This was the son who had always carried himself calmly, always dependable. Tonight felt different...unbearably so.
"I'm sorry."
Itachi's voice cracked, barely more than a whisper. Tears burned his eyes and spilled freely down his face. His Sharingan glowed in the dim light, but his heart trembled like that of a child.
Fugaku and Mikoto's hearts sank. They both felt it... the sadness, the inevitability, though neither spoke it aloud.
Mikoto stepped forward. With trembling hands, she pulled Itachi into a gentle embrace, resting his head against her shoulder as if he were still the small boy she once carried.
Fugaku exhaled deeply, his expression softening for the first time. "No matter what path you've chosen… you are still our son."
"You've always been an excellent shinobi. Since you've made your choice…"
He paused, voice heavy but unwavering.
"…then we will support you, Itachi."
