Chapter 70 - Chapter 69: Hidan’s Grind Never Ends

Zabuza looked at Haku, who was still standing beside him. For a moment, he froze—then went silent.

He understood Haku's attachment… and also what he meant to Haku.

At that moment, he stopped trying to persuade him. Instead, he lifted the massive Executioner Blade and stared straight at Hidan with a resolute expression.

If we can't live… then let's die with pride.

Hidan, however, only watched them with mild boredom. Their "bonds," their "resolve"—none of it stirred him in the slightest.

To him, they were just two potential corpses—future Edo Tensei pawns at best. And not even particularly strong ones.

Still… a Seven Ninja Swordsman and a Kekkei Genkai user?

Not a bad addition to the collection, he thought lazily.

"Kamui."

Hidan's right eye spun violently, chakra surging in torrents.

The space around the two began to twist and distort, reality folding inward like paper in the hands of him.

The distorted space instantly swallowed Zabuza and Haku whole.

The crushing pressure inside tore through their bodies, twisting flesh and bone until their upper halves were nothing but red mist.

Different people face death in different ways—some scream, some tremble, some struggle against the inevitable.

But Zabuza and Haku...

They simply looked at each other.

Even as the distortion tore through them, even as pain flooded every nerve, neither flinched nor cried out.

Only a faint furrow crossed their brows.

In those final seconds, they leaned closer—silently, peacefully.

To die together...

That was their last wish fulfilled.

"Kamui!"

This time, Hidan's left eye flared open—its pupil twisting violently as a dark vortex bloomed beneath Zabuza and Haku's feet.

He spared only their legs, sending them straight into the Sea of Blood—his private dimension.

Maybe he'd use them as Edo Tensei material later.

Or maybe… just for fun.

"Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame!"

The words left his mouth like a death sentence.

A colossal torrent of fire erupted forth, sweeping over the lake in an inferno of crimson heat.

In an instant, Zabuza and Haku's remaining bodies were reduced to ash—gone without a trace, leaving behind only the Executioner's Blade.

Cracked, scarred, and pitted with holes, it lay quietly at the lake's bottom like a relic from a forgotten age.

Then

A small vortex shimmered into existence beside it, silent but absolute.

The massive sword lifted off the lake floor and disappeared into the whirlpool, reappearing in the Tower of the Blood Sea, where it was carefully set beside the Bloody March Scythe—

another trophy in Hidan's growing collection.

After finishing off Zabuza and Haku, Hidan's gaze shifted to the half-dead Ao lying on the ground.

He wasn't just another cleanup job—he was the main target this time.

The very reason Hidan had stepped in at all.

There was something interesting about him… something Hidan wanted to test.

And if his theory proved right, his power could skyrocket.

A slow grin crept across his face.

As his thoughts stirred, Susanoo's massive right hand lifted.

A crimson gourd materialized above it, and a torrent of flame erupted from its mouth—condensing into a colossal flaming greatsword.

The blade gleamed, trembling with heat.

Then it came down.

BOOM!

The impact rocked the ground, a blazing pillar of fire shooting skyward as the sword slammed into the earth.

When the flames finally subsided, a massive charred crater remained…and Ao was gone.

Reduced to ashes—completely erased from existence.

Only the faint smell of burnt soil lingered.

Sasuke stood frozen, staring at the titanic skeleton wreathed in crimson fire.

His hands clenched unconsciously.

That power… it was overwhelming.

His heartbeat quickened. Is this the power he holds too?

The thought echoed in his chest like thunder.

That man—the one who had taken everything from him...he had this kind of power.

Sasuke's eyes burned with yearning. The three tomoe in his eyes spun faster.

He wanted that strength.

Only then could he take revenge.

Only then could he destroy everything that stood in his way.

Naruto, standing beside him, swallowed hard, sweat beading at his temple.

"Holy crap… that's not even human…" he muttered under his breath.

Even for all his big talk, that thing in front of him made his gut twist.

Sakura could barely speak, her hands trembling as she tried to steady herself.

"H-Hidan-sensei… he is so terrifying."

As for Kakashi, he'd already seen this kind of thing more times than he could count.

So seeing Hidan summon a flaming skeleton monster didn't surprise him in the slightest.

He'd even seen the complete Susanoo before — the full, matured version that could flatten a mountain — so this skeleton form was barely worth blinking at.

Kakashi wasn't impressed, but the others?

Yeah… not quite the same story.

Except for Konan, everyone else looked like their brains had just crashed.

Between Susanoo and that ridiculous Kamui earlier, most of them couldn't even breathe right.

Even Kurenai, freshly promoted to Jōnin, was pale as a ghost.

That chakra pouring off Hidan — it didn't just feel powerful, it felt wrong.

It felt so evil that it made her skin crawl with goosebumps.

"Is that seriously human chakra?" she whispered.

No matter how shocked the others were, once he finished the kill, Hidan calmly dispelled Susanoo.

The red glow faded, his eyes returning to their usual black, lazy stare.

Without saying a word, he shifted his focus inward—checking the host panel in his mind.

Host: Hidan

Strength: Super Kage Level (excluding special abilities)

Kekkei Genkai: Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan (100,000 kill points required for next upgrade), Ice Release (non-upgradeable)

Attributes: Fire, Lightning, Water, Earth, Wind

Ninjutsu: Death Ritual, Reanimation Technique, Eight Gates, Body Flicker, Fire Release Mastery, Lightning Release Mastery (useless jutsu omitted)

Special Traits: Immortal Body, Chakra Perception

Weapons: Bloody March Scythe, Black Spear, Executioner's Blade

Kill Points: 11,861

After killing two elite jōnin and one chūnin, Hidan's total kill points had climbed back over ten thousand.

Without hesitation, he chose to upgrade the Death Ritual — evolving it into a blood-powered killing technique that could now be activated instantly, without even needing a formation.

A faint grin tugged at his lips. "Heh… that's more like it."

But a moment later, his expression flattened again as he glanced at the test results.

"Figures," he muttered. "Worked great—experiment failed anyway."

According to Hidan's theory, Ao's right eye had been taken from a Hyūga and transplanted into his body.

So, logically speaking—if Hidan killed Ao, shouldn't he also gain the Byakugan Kekkei Genkai?

Naturally, he tested it immediately.

But the system wasn't stupid.

The "kill-and-loot" loophole didn't work. No matter how cleanly he vaporized Ao, the system refused to hand over the Byakugan.

Hidan frowned, clicking his tongue in annoyance.

"Tch. So that's a no, huh? Cheap bastard of a system."

He had already been planning his next target—Nagato of the Rain Village. If the Ao experiment had worked, his next step was obvious: go straight to the Land of Rain, tear out Nagato's Rinnegan, and see if he could claim it as his own.

After all, the Rinnegan was technically an evolved form of the Sharingan, right? By that logic, it should count.

But the system's rules were cruelly strict.

Nagato's Rinnegan wasn't born from his own bloodline—it had been transplanted directly from Uchiha Madara.

That meant Nagato could never awaken the Mangekyō or switch between ocular powers the way a true Uchiha could.

Even Madara himself had to swap between the two when using both the Mangekyō and the Rinnegan, proving just how unique that evolution was.

It wasn't just another Kekkei Genkai—it was practically a divine mutation, one that required both an Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan and the First Hokage's cells to even exist.

Hidan sighed. "Figures. No shortcut to godhood."

His little "Rinnegan farming plan" had officially failed.

For now, he could only keep doing what he did best—kill, collect points, and grind his way up the old-fashioned way.
