Chapter 71 - Chapter 70: The Return of the Fake Teachers

With the mission complete and their enemies defeated, Team 7 and Hidan's group finally began their journey back to Konoha.

Some looked cheerful. Others, not so much.

Kakashi, for one, was clearly in a good mood.

"Not bad. A clean win against the Hidden Mist without breaking a sweat… I'll take it," he said lazily, flipping open his book as if he hadn't just survived being jumped.

But not everyone shared his cheer.

Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and even Hidan's own two disciples, Shino and Kiba — all carried gloomy faces. Their loss wasn't physical. It was emotional.

Sasuke, especially, couldn't stop thinking about that moment — the terrifying power of Hidan's Mangekyo Sharingan.

Just one look, and Sasuke felt like his entire soul had been crushed.

I need to get stronger, he thought, his fists trembling. That guy… he's on a completely different level.

Meanwhile, Kurenai Yuhi walked quietly beside them, pretending not to notice Hidan at all — though her mind betrayed her calm facade.

Honestly, she hadn't joined as his assistant teacher for the mission. Not really.

She just… couldn't explain this strange attraction she felt toward him. It wasn't love, or admiration, or even curiosity — more like a dangerous, magnetic pull she didn't understand.

As for Hidan himself?

He looked downright irritated.

"Damn it. I missed my chance to grab a pair of Rinnegan," he muttered, dragging his scythe lazily across the dirt. "That's like… skipping the fast lane to godhood."

Losing that shortcut stung. In his book, that was a massive loss.

"Guess Nagato gets to live a bit longer. He'll make a good stepping stone for Naruto anyway," Hidan sighed dramatically, as if plotting out a novel's pacing instead of real people's fates.

Still, not everything was wasted.

He had killed three enemies and gathered enough blood to evolve his cursed ritual — the Death Division Blood — into something far greater.

Now, it was no longer bound by preparation or time. He could activate it anytime, anywhere. One drop of blood, one curse mark… instant death.

Even if the Sage of Six Paths himself were still around, one curse from Hidan would be enough to send him to the afterlife.

Or so the system told him. And Hidan really trusted the system.

When they finally arrived in Konoha, Hidan noticed something strange.

Posters — massive, colorful ones — were plastered all over the village walls.

On each one was the face of a beautiful woman.

She looked familiar, but Hidan couldn't quite place her.

"Wait… who's that again?" he murmured.

Hinata, who had been following close behind, gasped and pointed.

"Ah! That's Fuji Yukie! She plays Princess Gale in The Adventures of Princess Gale! It's my favorite movie!"

Her eyes sparkled like stars. Grabbing Konan's hand, she said shyly, "Konan-san, Hidan-nii — let's go to the movies together!"

The moment Hidan heard "Fuji Yukie," the lightbulb in his brain clicked.

"Oh-ho… so we're at that point in the timeline now," he said with a grin. "This world really does cram in all the Naruto story arcs at once."

He ruffled Hinata's hair affectionately. "Alright, alright. Let's go see what kind of princess can win over my sweet Hinata's heart."

He grabbed her hand and walked off toward the cinema like a man on a date — casually leaving the rest of his team behind.

"Wait… something feels off," Hidan said suddenly, stopping mid-stride. He scratched his head, pretending to think deeply.

Behind him, Shino and Kiba froze, their hearts leaping.

He remembered us?! Sensei actually remembered us?!

They looked at him with sparkling eyes full of hope.

Then Hidan turned — not toward them, but toward Kurenai.

"Oh yeah, Red-sensei, you come too. Almost forgot my assistant teacher."

His grin widened.

Two girls, one movie, one dark cinema — Hidan could already taste the victory.

Kurenai blinked, completely caught off guard.

"W-wait, me? Why would I—"

Before she could finish, Hidan swooped her off her feet — literally.

"You what you! Come on already!"

And just like that, he carried Kurenai in his arms, with Konan and Hinata following behind — leaving everyone else staring in disbelief.

Watching them vanish down the street, Shino adjusted his glasses and said flatly, "We might've met a fake teacher."

Kiba nodded solemnly. "Yeah… I think you're right."

Akamaru barked softly: "Woof."

Nearby, Team 7 was watching all this unfold, and for once, they felt grateful.

"Phew… good thing our teacher isn't like that," Naruto said with a relieved smile. "Even if he's always late, at least he doesn't ditch us to play around."

A long silence followed.

Then Sakura turned around.

"Uh… Kakashi-sensei?"

He was gone.

Sasuke pointed silently toward the direction Hidan had gone.

And sure enough — Kakashi was following right behind them, hands in his pockets, completely shameless.

Naruto's eye twitched. "We've definitely met a fake teacher."

Sakura: "…"

Sasuke: "…"

Five people and one dog exchanged deadpan looks.

There was no hope left for this generation of mentors.

"I said, Kakashi," Hidan called over his shoulder. "Why are you tailing us? Can't you, a proud single dog, go find joy alone?"

Kurenai, still trapped in his arms, turned as red as her name. Just hearing Hidan mock Kakashi made her heart race faster — though whether it was embarrassment or… something else, she didn't know.

Kakashi's silver hair stood on end. That damn idiot always knew how to dig right into people's insecurities.

He clenched his fist but sighed. He couldn't win against him in a fight anyway.

Still… this time, he wasn't backing down.

"I'm going to the movies too! Got a problem with that?!" Kakashi snapped, his voice cracking slightly.

He already knew what Hidan was planning. That pervert was dragging Konan and Kurenai into a dark movie theater — no way in hell Kakashi was letting that slide.

If he couldn't stop him, he'd at least block him.

The ultimate light bulb. The third wheel. The guardian of decency.

Let him see them… but not touch them.

That would be Kakashi's ultimate revenge!

Even single dogs could bite back!

Hidan turned, his grin sharp as a blade. "You? A light bulb? In front of me?"

He chuckled darkly. "Sorry, Hatake, but in the face of absolute power… you don't even qualify to glow."

Kakashi froze as a chill ran down his spine. The moment he saw that grin, he knew.

He'd made a terrible mistake.

Why… why did I provoke this lunatic?
