Chapter 65 - Chapter 65

Inside a spacious, upscale apartment, bursts of cheerful laughter echoed from the living room.

"Ahh… finally home. I'm exhausted…"

The girl who spoke collapsed heavily onto the sofa, her tone filled with relief.

Standing around her were four other girls — and shockingly, they all looked exactly the same.

Five identical faces, five distinct personalities.

They were quintuplets.

The door clicked shut behind them, and the nameplate on the wall by the entrance clearly read: Nakano.

"Itsuki, you're taking up way too much space. Move over a little," said the girl with two black ribboned pigtails as she walked closer.

She was Nakano Nino, the second sister of the five, their names arranged by birth order. The girl lying lazily on the sofa was the eldest — Nakano Ichika.

"Haha, sorry, sorry. Make yourselves comfortable~" Ichika said with a teasing grin, wriggling to one side. Hugging a sofa cushion tightly, she pressed her cheek against it and let out an adorable, contented sigh.

Nino plopped down beside her, glancing toward the three younger sisters across from her — Nakano Miku, Nakano Yotsuba, and Nakano Itsuki.

"So, what do we do now?" Nino asked, voice tinged with exasperation. "With grades like these, we're totally doomed this time. Once Dad finds out, he's going to come storming home from work, you know."

Yotsuba flinched, rubbing the back of her head awkwardly, the green ribbon tied there bouncing slightly as she laughed.

Once again, she had proudly secured last place on their exams — a perfect zero.

Beside her, Miku lounged against the sofa armrest, and Itsuki rummaged through the refrigerator before pulling out a carton of milk.

"Guess we'll just have to write an apology letter," Miku murmured in a soft, nonchalant voice, offering no further comment.

"I don't think it's that big of a deal," Itsuki said casually, taking a sip of milk. "Dad's probably used to it by now anyway."

"…"

"Haha, then let's just forget about it," Ichika replied, sounding completely unconcerned.

She stretched luxuriously and flipped over onto her back. "I'm so tired. Let's take a bath and watch a new movie on the couch, yeah?"

"Hmph. If none of you care, then I won't either," Nino muttered, the corner of her mouth lifting as she gave up as well.

As they talked, Itsuki approached with her milk in hand — but her gaze suddenly caught on something peeking out of Yotsuba's jacket pocket.

"Huh? Yotsuba, what's that?"

Before Yotsuba could respond, Itsuki reached out and pulled out a folded piece of paper.

The sisters gathered around and stared — the page was covered in a complex, mysterious-looking pattern. It resembled a magic circle.

Itsuki squinted and read aloud the text printed on it:

"The most miraculous wish-granting spell — fulfill any desire your heart holds. Make your wish now…"

As she finished reading, Nino gave an unimpressed sigh.

"Seriously? And here I thought it was some love letter a boy gave you. You're still playing with childish stuff like this?"

Yotsuba laughed weakly.

"No, no, it's not that. I was on my way home earlier and saw this really pretty lady handing out flyers on the street. She gave me one, so I just took it."

"Ugh, another dumb shopping mall promotion or something?" Nino groaned, clearly unbothered. "You never learn, Yotsuba. You're way too polite — you don't need to take every random thing people hand you."

"Haha… maybe, but she looked like she was working really hard, you know?" Yotsuba replied with an awkward laugh.

The other sisters just exchanged knowing looks. That was Yotsuba for you — too kind for her own good.

"There's not even any event info on it," Itsuki remarked, tossing the strange flyer onto the coffee table. "Weird promotion."

Miku, sitting on the sofa armrest, gave the flyer a lazy glance but didn't pay it any mind.

"Let me see… 'Wish-granting spell,' huh?" Yotsuba muttered curiously. "Does it really grant wishes?"

"What? Don't tell me you actually believe that, dummy?" Nino rolled her eyes. "You think magic's real or something?"

"Hehe, I dunno. Maybe it'll give me some luck! I mean, I got zero again. So unfair! I swear I tried this time!" Yotsuba pouted, mumbling under her breath.

Ichika chuckled. "Honestly, even random guessing should've gotten you a few points. Maybe you should ask the gods for help next time."

"Right? Right?"

Taking that as encouragement, Yotsuba clasped her hands together like she was praying. Her sisters looked on wordlessly as she closed her eyes and began mumbling a wish in earnest.

None of them took it seriously. If wishing actually worked, they would've begged the gods for perfect scores long ago.

But as Yotsuba prayed, something unexpected happened.

The flyer on the table began to glow.

A soft, golden light spread across the magic circle printed on the paper — and then it started to float.

"Eh!?"

Itsuki froze mid-sip, milk halfway to her lips, eyes widening in disbelief as she stared at the paper hovering in midair.

Miku and Nino noticed next, their eyes going wide, while Ichika opened hers in surprise at Itsuki's startled yelp.

Before any of them could react further, the glowing circle detached completely from the paper and expanded in midair, shining brighter and brighter until it filled the entire living room.

Then—

Whoosh!

A sudden flash of light erupted, and a figure emerged from the circle — landing gracefully right in front of the five astonished girls.

Yotsuba, directly opposite the magic circle, froze with her mouth hanging open. Her hands were still pressed together mid-prayer as she stared blankly at the young man who had just appeared out of thin air.

Ryuichi had answered the summoning.

This time, he'd used his own teleportation circle — something he could finally do after his promotion to a mid-class Devil. The magic felt smooth and powerful, the teleport precise. It was a good first experience with his new ability.

But as he looked at the group who had summoned him, his expression flickered with confusion.

"…What the— they all look exactly the same?"

Five identical girls stood before him, each radiating the same energy yet distinctly individual in aura.

What kind of situation was this?

Suppressing his surprise, Ryuichi kept his expression calm and turned toward Yotsuba — he could feel through the summoning link that she was the one who had called him.

Following proper form, he gave a polite bow, his voice low and composed.

"Answering your summons, lovely lady. My name is Ryuichi — a Devil who has come to fulfill your wish."

The five sisters stood frozen, their expressions blank.

"…"
