Chapter 64 - Salan!

On the clock tower, Great Deacon Hu Jin still could not believe what had just happened as he hung there in the rain.

The whole city was celebrating. Only he looked worse than a dead man.

The festival was gone, meaning he would no longer be sent to paradise. His soul would fall into the burning pot together with the Dark Beast Monsters, becoming an ugly slave for the rest of his existence.

Ta, ta, ta, ta…

The sound of heels echoed against the concrete. The clock tower was now empty. Mu He did not dare to breathe when he heard the footsteps.

However, it sounded like there were two people walking up the stairs.

"Why did you call me here?" a woman asked.

"I believe there's no one here. I thought we were both going to die… either way, there's something I've wanted to tell you for a long time. About ten years ago, when we first met here, you were still a Hunter Master. I know I'm not worthy of you—I'm still just an ordinary Imperial Magician even after ten years—but for those ten years, you've always been the most perfect woman in my heart," said the man.

"Is that all you have to say?" The woman's voice was cold.

"Yes. I'm not hoping you'll accept me, but I still wanted to tell you how I feel," the man said firmly.

"Normally, I would accept anyone willing to submit to me. Unfortunately, you chose to speak this nonsense when I'm in my worst mood. I won't accept your feelings… but I don't mind accepting your heart," the woman replied.

"What did you say—AHHH!" The man's voice turned into a scream midway through her words.

The clock tower fell silent. Not a single sound followed.

Khchak!

A blinding flash of light erupted as the woman froze instinctively, a human heart in her hands.

"What a shot!" A young man's voice rang out from her left.

She turned her head toward the source of the voice and dropped the heart.

"…Damon," Ling Xi hissed, her eyes cold and indifferent as she stared at the blue-eyed man.

"Yes, Ms. Ling Xi. Or should I say… Salan?" Damon replied with a grin, lowering his phone.

A calm, relaxed smile rested on his face as he slipped one hand into his pocket and walked closer under her icy gaze. He leaned down slightly, meeting her eye level.

"…Or should I say… Ye Chang."

Ling Xi's eyes widened. Instinctively, she hurled a Wind Disc at Damon, only to be stunned when it struck nothing but a distant building.

"Huh?"

Her instincts flared. Ye Chang immediately deployed Space Rhythm—an intermediate-rank space spell that separated two points in space, forming a lifesaving shield.

Crack… crack…

Activating Wind Path, she fled forward, glancing back at the space barrier she had just cast. Black fissures spread across it as Damon's hands tore through the distorted space, shattering it completely.

"What?" Ye Chang could not believe her eyes. A human… physically destroying space with his bare hands?

She had no time to process it.

"Ice Realm!"

Cyan radiance erupted from her body as she invoked an advanced-tier ice spell. A beautiful rose of ice bloomed before Damon, freezing everything in its vicinity.

Caught in the icy storm, Damon did not flinch. Imperial flames instinctively spread from his body, blanketing the area and nullifying the ice magic.

"How?" Ye Chang's mind flooded with questions.

"How what?" Damon asked with a friendly smile as blue flames surged, completely erasing the ice spell. "How do I know you're Salan? Or how I know your real name?"

"…Or about your plans with the soul of the Parthenon?"

The air shifted violently. Ye Chang froze mid-cast as a murderous aura flooded the area. Her wind-element star palace formed instantly.

Thousand Leaf Wind Blades: Vacuum Storm.

A dome of wind enclosed Damon from all directions. Thousands of compressed wind blades tore toward him, aiming to shred him completely while draining all breathable air.

Damon did not dodge. He faced them head-on, maintaining eye contact with the cold-eyed woman before him.

Mana Muscles of Standard Monarch Rank.

Totem Bones.

Emperor of Qin.

The three traits had pushed his body beyond human limits. Even attacks from lesser monarchs could barely harm him—these wind blades were meaningless.

None of them managed more than shallow scratches, which healed instantly.

Damon stood still, waiting for the spell to end.

Above him, Ye Chang invoked super-tier light magic. A second-tier Excalibur of Divine Blessing formed, radiating holy judgment.

The wind dome dissipated. Damon stood unharmed as the massive sword of light descended.

"Die!" Ye Chang screamed.

Damon merely raised his hands. A surge of purple-black energy erupted, devouring the divine sword in an instant, rendering all her efforts futile.

"…So is that all?" Damon muttered, looking down at Salan.

Shock filled her eyes, but her mind raced. The battle and super-tier magic would soon draw attention.

She was exhausted. A super mage without mana was nothing more than a powerful mortal.

Her hand reached for a space scroll—an artifact capable of teleportation.

Damon vanished.

He reappeared instantly, grabbing Ye Chang by the head and slamming her into the nearest building, obliterating the wall.

He seized the arm holding the scroll and tore it free.

"Aaah—!" Ye Chang screamed.

Damon tossed the severed arm aside, summoned silver wings, and shot into the sky, dragging Salan with him.

Above the ruined city of Xi'an, his wings spread wide. Under the blazing sun, he looked like an angel delivering bloodstained judgment.

His grip tightened.

A soul-level intent surged into Salan's body. She resisted instinctively, but her mind stood no chance against a forbidden mage.

Her magic was sealed completely.

"AAA!"

She clawed at his arm, scratched, struggled—futile.

Below, figures began to gather, drawn by the chaos.

Damon wasted no time.

Imperial flames engulfed Salan's body, burning her alive before the eyes of the entire city.

He would not allow her to be captured, interrogated, or escape again.

Not in his presence.

Not in his world.

"It's a pity I didn't get to torture her," Damon muttered as her screams faded.

Death—even brutal—was mercy she did not deserve.

"Well… I won't let her rest even in death."

Activating his undead element, Damon stared directly into Ye Chang's soul and forcibly ripped it from her body.

"Suffer for eternity, Salan."

He cast her soul into the Dark Abyss, now bound to him.

The burning corpse fell lifelessly from the sky.

"Xi'an… Bo City… you have been avenged."

"Attack on Xi'an: Undead Calamity!"

"Millions Dead! Destruction of the Ancient Capital!"

"Black Vatican's Schemes! Death of Salan!"

Media across the world erupted with coverage. The disaster at Xi'an was unprecedented, boiling the blood of humanity.

The calamity brought tears to countless eyes.

Millions had died in the battle against the undead—against evil.

And the world would never forget it.

A/N:

I said the plot would be fucked so yeah it's here, death of salan. I ain't waiting so many chapters just to kill her.

I don't want MC to be brain dead and let the woman go nor some disappointing plot hole where salan escapes even after mc knows what happens.

So it's here.

I made the fight rather short as you know it's justified. She had fought against Undead helping other mages, her reserves would be low, near exhausted so it ended quickly.
