Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A Girl from a Gourmet Anime and a Zombie World

 Take a deep breath...

Li Ke tried his best to adjust his breathing, reduce unnecessary noise, and lighten the sound of her footsteps.

His efforts paid off. At least when he approached the sleeping zombie, the creature was not awakened by his footsteps and remained asleep with its head down, exposing its fragile cervical spine.

Li Ke took a deep breath of the rotten air and brought the fire axe down hard. The zombie's already rotting neck was bent by the blow, and the zombie fell face down to the ground.

But Li Ke didn't stop. He ignored the axe stuck in the zombie's neck and let the zombie fall down with him. Instead, he pulled out another axe from behind his back without hesitation and viciously chopped at the zombie's head. However, because the zombie roared and stood up, the angle was slightly bent, and the axe got stuck directly on the zombie's forehead, failing to kill it instantly.

However, Li Ke was still prepared. He released the axe again, took two steps back to avoid the zombie's counterattack, then took out the hammer from his back and swung it around to smash the axe stuck in the zombie's forehead.

The axe was specially wrapped with strips of cloth, so the sound of the impact was slightly dull. With this dull sound, the axe smashed directly into the zombie's forehead, causing the zombie to stagger and fall to the ground.

Li Ke did not approach rashly. Instead, he walked to the side of another zombie that was still convulsing, pulled the axe out of its neck, and before it could get up, he chopped off its head with one blow.

Only then did Li Ke breathe a sigh of relief and sit down in the family's room to recover his strength.

But he couldn't help but curse.

  "This fucked-up world."

He appeared in this world yesterday morning. As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw two scantily clad blonde women rushing towards him, trying to throw themselves into his arms.

He would be very happy if they could walk normally even though half of their necks were rotten and their intestines and spleens were exposed.

Adding to the fact that only the upper body of a corpse was crawling towards him, he immediately realized that he had either stumbled into the set of a zombie movie or entered the world of a ghost movie.

Many people instinctively freeze and scream in times of crisis. It's an instinct, like when being hit by a car. Even though running away is the best option, people are often so scared that their minds go blank.

  But Li Ke is different.

He would throw a punch at them.

What should have been just a scratch turned into a broken right hand, requiring a month of hospitalization.

This time, when the two blond zombies pounced on him, he instinctively tried to push them away, and was then scratched by their fingernails.

So, naturally, he was injured by the zombie.

Looking at the scabbed wound on the back of his hand, Li Ke couldn't help but raise his head. This was truly embarrassing. His predecessors, when faced with similar situations, were able to either fight back or emerge unscathed. But he, on the other hand, had sent himself to his death with a single reflex.

While this might not be considered the most shameful time traveller—there are plenty of predecessors who have been far more shameful these days—it's still newsworthy enough.

But if it weren't for that conditioned reflex punch, he probably would have had his throat bitten through by the zombie's sharp teeth, and he wouldn't have had time to pick up the crowbar and smash those zombies' much more fragile heads.

After discovering his injury, Li Ke searched for various things in the RV to clean his wounds, and even considered cutting off his own arm. However, he knew that without proper medical care, he would die even faster that way.

After thinking it over all night, Li Ke decided that regardless of whether she was infected or not, he should make the most of his final moments.

He never imagined that he would end up starving or dying of thirst.

So he only rested for a short while before starting to look for items.

Most of the food in the dilapidated house was inedible. Only five cans of luncheon meat, two jars of jam, and one unopened bottle of water remained. The rest were either rotten or dried out and were completely inedible.

So Li Ke searched for the supplies he needed as quietly as possible, but he was thirsty and didn't find much water. Instead, he found two bottles of well-preserved honey in the storage cabinet on the roof.

  "There's even something like this..."

Li Ke licked his lips. He just wanted to enjoy life as much as possible, so he opened the honey jar and took a big gulp.

The sweetness of the honey improved his mood considerably. Normally, he would never have dared to eat honey like this, but now it was different. He didn't even know if he was a dying man, so why would he care about such things?

Sipping honey and eating luncheon meat he found in the house, Li Ke only dared to relax and rest here after confirming that there were no other zombies in the house. However, he still planned to return to the RV that night because the houses in the vicinity were mostly made of wood and showed obvious signs of corrosion. If a large number of zombies came to attack, he would be finished.

There were reinforced concrete buildings here, but Li Ke glanced around and saw no fewer than twenty zombies, so he gave up.

However, just as he finished packing the rest of his things and was about to return to the RV, a girl's scream suddenly rang out. The next moment, Li Ke saw a blonde girl in a Japanese school uniform open the door and rush out of a room in the next street.

Behind her were two or three zombies.

However, the noise she made woke up all the zombies on the street. Li Ke saw it very clearly. The moment she screamed and rushed out of the room, the sound of objects falling came from the surrounding houses, and swaying, rotting figures appeared by the glass windows.

However, among them was a zombie that moved like a frog. It didn't seem special when it was lying on the ground, but it could make extremely long leaps and was about to catch up with the girl.

  "Stupid girl..."

Li Ke glanced at the scar on his arm. If he hadn't been bitten by a zombie, he definitely wouldn't have bothered with it.

Unfortunately, he already had symptoms of infection.

Moreover, these zombies weren't particularly fast runners; the fastest ones were only moving at the speed of an average person walking.

Li Ke pushed open the door quickly, grabbed an axe in one hand and a hammer in the other, and rushed out of the room, roaring angrily under the girl's terrified gaze.

  "Crouch down!"

Li Ke's voice made the terrified girl instinctively crouch down. The next moment, Li Ke threw away the axe and swung the hammer in his hands, smashing it hard at a zombie wearing a yellow shirt that was hopping towards the girl like a frog.

The hammer struck the other zombie squarely in the face. Li Ke heard a cracking sound of bones breaking. He turned his body, released the hammer, and pulled out the axe, slashing it hard across the face of another charging zombie, splitting its forehead open and causing it to convulse and fall to the ground.

Seeing the zombies frantically smashing doors and breaking windows, Li Ke picked up an axe and a hammer, and without even glancing at the zombies staggering out, grabbed the girl's fair hand and ran back the way he came.

  "Run!"

The terrified girl nodded as she followed Li Ke into the woods, quickly shaking off the staggering zombies and escaping their notice.

Li Ke, who had run into the woods, stopped after turning around and finding no zombies. He pulled the girl behind a tree, where her voluptuous figure pressed against him. But he didn't care; he was busy looking around nervously. Only after confirming that there was nothing around did he breathe a sigh of relief and turn to look at the only living person he had seen.

He then realized that the girl in front of him was much prettier than he had imagined. She had fair and delicate skin, purplish-red eyes, and a pitiful expression. No matter how you looked at her, she was a very beautiful girl.

It's a bit strange, though; her clothes are quite shiny, which makes her seem out of place in the zombie world.

Unlike him, he had only been there for a day, and his body was already covered in dust and blood.

Why did you ran and screaming?

He asked directly, and the girl, with tears in her eyes, spoke in a slightly aggrieved voice.

"I...I'm so hungry, so I wanted to find something to eat, but..."

Li Ke immediately understood. He nodded, said nothing more, and simply handed over a can of luncheon meat.

But after the girl took the can of luncheon meat, she couldn't help but purse her lips, and then spoke hesitantly.

"Excuse me, is there anything better to eat? I can't eat this kind of food. I was discovered by those zombies because I threw up after eating canned food."

The girl herself knew that her question was really too much, and she couldn't help but lower her head.

  huh?

Li Ke was stunned for a moment, and couldn't help but look at the girl again.

"Then how did you manage to live in this world? Were you some kind of important person before? And now you've been kicked out?"

He couldn't quite understand it, but after thinking about the plot he had read in the novel, he still managed to come up with a possibility in his mind.

"No, no, I suddenly arrived here yesterday morning. I just pushed open the door to my room and suddenly found myself here!"

As the girl spoke, tears welled up in her eyes again. Clearly, the near-death experience had left her quite shaken, and seeing Li Ke had eased her anxieties.

Seeing Li Ke's strange expression, she realized what was happening and quickly bowed to Li Ke, causing the slime on her chest to shake wildly.

"Ah, sorry! I forgot to thank you! Thank you for saving me. My name is Erina Nakiri, nice to meet you!"

  Erina Nakiri?

  Li Ke's expression turned strange.

If he remembered correctly, Erina Nakiri was a character from an anime.

  She only arrived yesterday?

Li Ke carefully examined the blonde girl who called herself Nakiri Erina, especially her white calves exposed under her skirt.

He wasn't lustful at first sight, but rather...

There was also a bloody scratch there.
