Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Jumping

With the reveal of dragons actually existing, flying through the skies was no longer an option. Originally, their best chance of getting through without being detected would be by only summoning their wings and going high up to avoid being extremely noticeable by those below.

However, this ideal was broken occasionally, and in all honesty, should have resulted in them being seen way before Arthur broke the news.

The dragons were now taking the planes, though with their vast wealth it was more suitable for them to fly first class. Damien sat next to Jack, looking out the window.

"Woah, I'm pretty sure this is my first time flying. How about you?" Damien asked, to which Jack responded with, "First time with a plane, but I've learned how to fly with my wings, so this isn't anything special."

Damien had to agree.

"Would you save me if the plane exploded and I was plummeting to my death? I still haven't learned how to fly, after all," Damien asked. "What? I mean, sure, since you did grab my Reboot Card that one time."

While they were playing games, Jack had died, and Damien clutched a 1v2 in order to revive him.

The flight wasn't all that long, and afterwards, they all left the airport and began to make their way down to one of the Graves' mansions.

The Graves family was quite large, and were, for the most part, spread out over three distinct areas.

The first one was the one in which Chad lived. Naturally, it would be wise to avoid that one.

The second one was the one in which Kaiser and the majority of the family lived up in New York City. However,

"This one is the least powerful, and with the most likely chance of getting a significant number of them off of the table," Hiein said as the two families joined together.

Alicia was actually a combatant, unlike Anastasia, who didn't join the fight as the only necessary decoy would be Damien. So, of the Assas family, only three members joined the fray at the moment.

They all made their way down to a large private property in the middle of the woods. Upon arrival, Jack reached for his own stomach, taking hold of a bone spear which was manifested from his ribcage, handing the spear to Damien.

"Ah? Ewugh, but uh, what're you giving me this for? I already have a sword," Damien told him. "It's a backup weapon in the event of your sword being taken out of commission. You can insert it inside of yourself, and draw it when necessary."

"Uhhhh…"

Damien tried it, pushing the blunt side of the spear into his stomach, to which it seemingly phased through and entered without difficulty.

"Woah… alright then, uh, thanks," Damien said. Jack gave him a thumbs up with a blank expression before the group of 12 people made their way to the house inside the private property.

While on the flight and the like, they had discussed a plan. Following it, Damien went up to the front door and knocked.

He stood around for a few seconds.

'Ah, what if they sneak attack me? Like, they open the door and just, y'know, beat my ass? Please don't, that'd be very not good.'

The door opened, to which a woman appeared before Damien. She had black hair and blue eyes, and was quite tall, though Damien was still a fair bit taller.

"Yo, uh, I'm Damien, and I'm Arthur's brother. Uh, I met him not too long ago when he attacked the Assas' house, and he told me to leave them and come here. Can I come in?"

The woman waited for a moment, saying an "umm…" as she looked behind her. She looked back at Damien, eyeing him up and down and spotting his sword.

"Why are you armed?" She asked. "Well, my brother's being targeted by everyone, so I feel like this is all I can really do," Damien answered.

"Are you alone?" She asked.

"Uh, yeah, I had to, y'know, walk—or rather, run here, and stuff, because I—"

A sharp pain in his left side. He looked down, seeing a sword of black mist embedded in his stomach off to the left.

"Ah… what… what was that for, eheh…" Damien stammered, his eyebrows raised as he took a step back to take the sword out of his body. He turned around, wondering if it was the lie about running, but he did not see the cars they took, as they had parked them far out and hiked the rest of the way.

"Why would he send you alone? Besides, I've got no care for Arthur," the woman said as the sword of darkness faded into nonexistence before she grabbed Damien by the collar and dragged him inside the house.

"I heard he got everyone else killed except for that nuisance, so perhaps this will be a good way to return the favor," the woman stated with a wide grin.

"A-augh, ghuh," Damien moaned, drawing his sword and swinging it with one hand at the top of her head. The woman disappeared from sight, before Damien's back was bent backwards, as he flew across the living room and face first into a shelf, where his nose clipped one part.

He let out a "gah" before turning around and seeing the woman still holding the kicking pose she had assaulted him with. She placed her foot down on the ground, and Damien tried to stand up, before falling down.

As most sword wounds were fatal, especially ones delivered by what could only be assumed to be a Death Sword, he couldn't move the best after being impaled. Luckily, his adrenaline was in full gear, so he couldn't exactly say he was in agony.

However, while he'd learned how to heal his wounds using the Conversion method, he noticed that his wound was not closing. Such was the fate of all those stricken by the woman's sword.

"What the… ah, oh dear, hahaha," Damien spat out as he felt a warm, metal sensation in his mouth. He began to bleed from his mouth, as the sword had pierced his lungs, which meant that the blood was making its way up his throat as, yes, he was drowning in his own blood.

"Oh shit dude, oh fuck, oh wow, what a… agh, CLAGH!" Damien stammered, coughing up the blood as best he could. As the plan had already gone to crap, everyone else burst through the windows, taking on the 7 members of the Graves house at that point.

Damien felt himself gagging, and he got up, running away to the toilet, his body feeling colder and feeling quite parched. He entered the bathroom and stuck his finger in his throat, gagging himself until he vomited the excess blood out of his throat.

Of course, along with it came that morning's breakfast and last night's dinner.

Damien smiled, beginning to laugh at the stupidness of the situation, as he fell over, looking up at the dark bathroom.

'Ah, it really, really hurts. No, not really, I'm just saying that cause it feels like it should hurt, but it doesn't actually hurt all that bad. This feeling of drowning and choking, or is it just drowning? Ah, whatever, regardless of the proper term, that feeling is more annoying than anything.'

'Am I not healing right? No, I know how to do it, it just won't work.'

"Son of a bitch, they gotta patch this shit, man… I'm bugged, my shit ain't working. Ah, if life was a video game, I'd chuck my controller across the room right now, ahaha…!"

'I keep pressing the button, but the healing won't—'

Before he could finish his thought, the wall to the bathroom was destroyed, as a grown man was launched through the wall and beyond the bathroom, ending up in the middle of a children's room.

"Oh fack, okie, this is… wow, I'm gonna die in the middle of a bathroom. Well, at least it's a rich person's bathroom," Damien said, laughing as he rolled over to his side and continued to spit and cough up blood.

However, he was quickly grabbed, lifted up and pinned against a wall.

"Ah, so rough, y'er so mean—Jack!?" Damien said, initially seeming relaxed before his voice took a sharp turn. Jack held a knife to his own wrist and slit it, cupping up the blood and shoving his hand into Damien's mouth.

"CLHLCHGLCHGLC!!!" Damien screamed. Or rather, tried to scream, as he felt like he was getting molested. His eyes rolled into the back of his head and he felt like he was going to die, before his wound finally healed, as Jack took his slobber covered hand outside of Damien's mouth.

Damien fell to his knees, coughing up excess blood, but did not die. He held his stomach, looking down and coughing to the point that his head hurt. However, the sensation he felt earlier, akin to a lingering punch to the gut, was now gone.

"That woman is Madelyn Graves, I guess it's good luck you ran into her," Jack said calmly, helping Damien up. "Oh yeah? Why's that?" Damien asked.

"Her ability lets her bring about a sword which can't be healed from via biological methods for dragons. However, your vampirism is like, y'know, not typical. So you're a pretty good match."

"Ah, okay, that's good to know. Heh, we probably should've brought a bottle of blood or something for this stuff, y'know?" Damien joked, to which Jack laughed and nodded his head.

"Wanna jump her?" Jack asked with a faint smile, to which the relieved Damien agreed with a laugh. He cracked his knuckles, drawing the bone spear from his abdomen.

"Yeah, let's beat her ass!" Damien yelled. Then, he said, in a nerdy voice in which he sounded eerily like Arthur pre-steroids, "oh my gyosh, this is gonna be so epic, it's just like Fortnite in real life! Let's double pump this chick! We're gonna beat up all the bad guys and be super cool and epic and awesome!"

To an outsider, it may sound cringey enough to make one dig their nails into their skin. But to them, it was a pretty precious moment, jumping a woman in her own home with medieval weapons.

The two youths let out a small laughter at Damien's stupid comment, before they left the bathroom, wielding their spears and watching the woman getting into a sword-fight with Hiein.

So, they jumped in, making it a 3v1.
