FX: BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Guard Captain Jelani strikes the floor with a metal spear.
Jelani (voice thunderous): "ALL RISE FOR SUPREME ELDER KHARI — VOICE OF THE ANCESTRAL FIRE."
Sixteen Elders rise in a crescent formation.
Behind them, scribes carve symbols into stone tablets.
Khari steps forward slowly.
Old. Thin. Heavy with centuries.
Khari: "Let the record show. On the First Day of the New Sun… a charge has been brought."
He looks down.
Kura stands barefoot in the light.
She doesn't understand.
Panel 2 – The Formal Charge
Elder Bisi (Law-Bringer) unrolls a woven scroll.
Bisi: "Under the First Law of Silence… no citizen shall awaken forces beyond ancestral sanction."
She looks at Kura.
Bisi (clear, cutting): "Kura, child of the Fire-Bloodline…You stand accused of unlawfully summoning the Celestial Flame —endangering the City of Ungani."
The words echo.
Endangering.
City.
Ungani.
Kura looks at T'Laru.
T'Laru doesn't move.
Panel 3 – The Prosecution Steps Forward
Zola rises.
Not shouting.
Not emotional.
Controlled.
Zola: "This is not about fear of light. This is about survival."
She steps into the sunlight.
Her skin trembles under it.
Zol a: "Before yesterday, we were hidden. Now we are visible from the horizon."
She gestures upward.
Zola: "The Sun is not a toy. It is a beacon."
She turns toward Khari.
Zola: "I submit that the child has altered the balance of the world without counsel. The law demands containment."
Not exile.
Not death.
Containment.
The room tightens.
Panel 4 – Evidence
Zola signals.
Two Sky-Keepers enter.
They carry a crystal prism.
They angle it.
Sunlight fractures into burning beams.
The floor scorches.
Gasps ripple.
Zola: "This is unmanaged light. Multiply this by a million reflections. Our crops will burn. Our outer tribes will see us. Predators will come."
She looks directly at T'Laru.
Zola: "You speak of honest y.I speak of consequence."
Panel 5 – The Defense Rises
T'Laru finally steps forward.
He bows to Khari first.
Procedure matters.
T'Laru: "With respect to the court, the prosecution assumes intention."
He turns to the elders.
T'Laru: "She did not summon the Sun. The Sun rose."
Murmurs.
He continues.
"She did not command it. She survived it."
He kneels beside Kura.
T'Laru:" If she is the bridge… then imprisoning her is severing the only voice we have with the sky."
He stands.
"You call her a danger. I call her the only translator in a war we do not yet understand."
Panel 6 – Witness Testimony
Khari raises a hand.
Kha ri: "Call the Anchor."
The doors open.
Gamiwe enters.
The temperature drops.
Even the sunlight dims slightly.
She walks with her staff.
She does not bow.
She stands in the Eye.
Kh ari: "You are sworn by bone and dust. Speak truth."
Gamiwe closes her eyes.
Ga miw e: "The child did not cast a spell."
Pause.
"She dreamed."
Theis stillstills.
Gamiwe: "The Sun answered."
That changes everything.
Zola stiffens.
T'Laru's jaw tightens.
Khari leans forward.
Khar: "Can she control it?"
Silence.
Gamiwe opens her eyes.
Gamiw e "No."
A wave of fear spreads.
But then—
Gami we: "Yet."
Panel 7 – The Political Blow
Mbeki, the War-Chief, rises.
Mb eki: "Then this court faces two dangers.If we imprison her, we anger the Sun. If we free her, we invite the world."
He looks at Khari.
"Which enemy do you prefer?"
That is the real question.
Not guilt.
Strategy.
Panel 8 – The Judge's Crisis
Khari grips his staff.
Internal Thought: If I condemn her, I kill possibility. If I free her, I gamble the city.
He looks down at Kura.
She is not glowing.
She is shaking.
She whispers:
Kura: "I didn't mean to break the sky…"
The entire courtroom hears it.
Silence falls like a blade.
Panel 9 – The Verdict
Khari stands.
"On the charge of unlawful summoning —this court finds insufficient proof of intent."
Gasps.
Zola closes her eyes.
Khari continues:
"However…"
Tension spikes.
"The child is hereby placed under Tribunal Protection and Surveillance."
Not prison.
Not freedom.
Custody.
"She will be trained. Observed. Guarded."
He slams his staff.
"Until the Sun answers to her…or she answers to it."
BOOM.
Verdict delivered.
Panel 10 – The Twist
At that exact moment—
The sunlight in the Eye flickers.
The beam turns red.
A shadow stretches unnaturally long across the court floor.
Not from Kura.
From the light itself.
A sound fills the chamber.
A childlike giggle.
Not Kura's.
The Elders turn slowly.
The shadow detaches.
