Chapter 50 - She Belongs to Me

"Sir," one of the men began cautiously, "we checked the hospital records. Nothing is accessible. All we know is that your wife, Mr. Lennox, and a female friend spent the night there. But, there is nothing beyond that."

Damien slammed his hand against the desk. "Nothing beyond that? Do I not pay you enough? I need information!"

Another man spoke up. "The car we were tailing from last night, it hasn't returned to the hospital, sir. And your wife, she..she was discharged this morning."

Damien leaned back, jaw tight. His eyes narrowed. Discharged? Where did she go?

He rubbed his temples, trying to keep his temper in check. He had investigated, through an insider, Noah's apartment, but no one had seen either Noah or Jossy enter. "She must be somewhere in LA," he muttered. "She can't have disappeared unless she went to her parents'."

He dialed their number. They picked immediately, but the first thing her parents asked was, "How is Jossy doing?" Their concern made it painfully clear to him..they had no idea where she was. He wasn't making any progress, and it frustrated him. He was Damien Rothwell, damn it! His fist clenched around the phone. He had even tried Hazel. He couldn't reach her. "She must have been the other woman at the hospital last night," he said under his breath. "Jossy, you're smart enough not to stay at Hazel's place. You're clearly hiding from me."

He leaned forward, voice low and dangerous. "I will find you. I will bring you home. We're a family. And families, families don't run away.

The entrance of Lennox Corporation was in chaos. Damien Rothwell, slightly flushed and unsteady, had drawn a small crowd of employees. His suit was messy, his tie loose, and there was a faint smell of alcohol. People stepped back, watching the man who seemed ready to explode.

"I want to see Noah," Damien shouted. "Now!"

"No, Mr. Rothwell, you can't just.." the receptionist began, but he cut her off with a sharp gesture.

His voice boomed across the lobby as he demanded to see Noah, waving his hands dramatically. "I want to see him! Now!" he shouted, "He has something that belongs to me."
