Chapter 731 - Chapter 385: When in Doubt, Ask Mokgetsu

Shisui's mind raced as he thought about how to refute Uchiha Seisei, and how to nip this absurd proposal in the bud.

The history and politics he had learned from Mokgetsu finally came into play, and combining it with the actual situation of the Uchiha Clan, Shisui quickly found the answer.

In order to achieve his goal, there were two main points to focus on. The first was to make the Uchiha ninjas realize the infeasibility of the proposal; there's a difference between something that may not be passed and something that definitely won't be passed.

The second was to gain an identity that allowed him to compete alongside Uchiha Seisei; otherwise, the first point could not be developed.

To make the Uchiha members recognize the infeasibility of the proposal, Shisui needed to explain in detail, ensuring that even political fools would understand that it was impossible.

If he didn't have the status to compete alongside Uchiha Seisei, the Uchihas would be biased against his words, thinking he was simply foolishly refuting their favorite elder, and Uchiha Seisei could use sophistry to counter any potential loopholes in Shisui's words.

Shisui knew the Uchiha Clan all too well; this family was not one where reasoning prevailed.

But achieving equal status was difficult because becoming an elder wasn't something that could be done overnight.

Although Shisui had made contributions in war, the merits within the village and the clan were two different things; it was virtually impossible for Shisui to become an eight-year-old elder.

However, Shisui had a cunning plan in mind.

Given the unique dynamics of the Uchiha clan, if Shisui could defeat Uchiha Seisei in battle, even though Seisei was an elder and Shisui just an eight-year-old child, people would still see them as equals.

"Should I challenge Uchiha Seisei directly here? Would that be too extreme?" Shisui hesitated.

He wasn't worried about losing; he believed he had a high chance of winning. Having broken through his Breathing Technique, he now had the confidence to single-handedly defeat a member of the Seven-Swords Ninja. Even among the Uchiha, there were few at such a level, and Uchiha Seisei's raw strength was at best on par with his, with little chance of being stronger.

Shisui's confidence actually came from his vast intelligence advantage.

The Breath of Flame Chakra Mode and Armament Aura were things Uchiha Seisei couldn't possibly be familiar with, whereas Shisui had a comprehensive understanding of Uchiha ninjas.

Shisui hesitated because directly challenging Uchiha Seisei and then winning could cause Seisei to have a mental breakdown, ultimately opposing Shisui at all costs, and affecting Shisui's subsequent plans.

In other words, Shisui didn't want to further enlarge the internal conflict within the Uchiha; he wanted to unite all of the Uchiha's forces.

Uchiha Nobuhiro was preparing to speak up in support of Shisui, unwilling to watch the expansion of the Uchiha clan's hawkish faction.

"The matter of taking proactive rights is of great significance. The clan meeting will be suspended and will reconvene in a week to discuss further." At this moment, Uchiha Fugaku spoke up.

Originally, it was expected that a dove-faction elder would stand up to refute Uchiha Seisei.

Because Uchiha Seisei placed himself in the position of representing the entire Uchiha clan, Uchiha Fugaku, as the Clan Leader, couldn't stand in opposition to the Uchiha.

But regardless of Uchiha Fugaku's hints, the dove-faction elders merely displayed helpless expressions, signaling their inability to act, so Fugaku had no choice but to use a tactical delay, terminating and delaying the clan meeting—an authority he possessed as the Clan Leader.

"Clan Leader's suggestion is insightful; this matter indeed holds great significance for the Uchiha clan. Thinking over it for another week is indeed better, but even major issues should not be endlessly delayed, as being indecisive is a major taboo," Uchiha Seisei directly agreed to Fugaku's proposal.

Seisei's thought process was clear; he couldn't stop Uchiha Fugaku from exercising his authority.

Unless he could gather most of the Uchiha's power to propose overthrowing Fugaku as Clan Leader, which was impossible, since Fugaku's ability and strength were recognized by everyone.

Rather than blab on, Uchiha Seisei chose to follow Fugaku's lead, raising Fugaku's status, making it so that next week, Fugaku couldn't use the same trick.

Fugaku could only nod stiffly, thankful for an additional week to perhaps come up with a solution.

"Then let's adjourn," Uchiha Fugaku declared the end of the clan meeting.

The Uchihas left in pairs with familiar clan members, excitedly discussing the contents of the meeting.

"Obito, the meeting's over, we can go home now." Shisui lightly tapped the daydreaming Obito beside him.

Ever since uttering a word towards Uchiha Seisei, Obito had been in a daze, staying like this the entire time.

"Oh, oh, it's over, then let's go back," Obito responded, nodding as he stood up.

After realizing that Uchiha Seisei was just a boring old man, Obito used his mind-wandering technique to immerse in his own world, ignoring any external remarks.

"Obito, you go ahead. I still have some things to deal with," Shisui shook his head in reply.

Though the meeting was adjourned, the crisis hadn't been resolved; he needed to come up with a way to solve this crisis without aggravating the Uchiha's internal conflicts.

"Alright then, I'll head back first. Goodbye, Shisui. Goodbye, Uncle Nobuhiro," Obito nodded and waved farewell.

Then Shisui turned to Uchiha Nobuhiro, "Uncle, you should head back first. I have somewhere else to go."
