Joan's POV
I came out of the room I had been hiding in nervously and ran to the kitchen. I hope this works. He has been ignoring me in Ethan's palace, and that's not a good sign.
Unlike Ethan, James is the chatty type, when he's quiet, it's never good. I looked around and picked an apple, sliced it, and started eating. I was so hungry. A maid entered and stared at me in disbelief.
"Hey, you! How dare you eat what belongs to His Highness and his family?" Seeing her disgusted expression and the way she spoke to me, I suddenly changed my plan of acting like a maid. I don't think I can tolerate this.
"Hey, watch your mouth," I rolled my eyes and continued eating. Soon they became two… then three, staring at me as if I had committed an unforgivable sin. "Hey! Your face is new. Who are you?" the oldest asked. I smiled and clapped my hands. "Exactly the question I've been waiting for! I'm not a maid, I'm a guest."
They looked at one another in confusion.
