Isha's study was the oldest room in the Nexus.
Not the largest — that was the central hub. Not the most complex — the cultivation chambers held that distinction. But the study predated the Nexus's current configuration by millennia, a pocket of the original architecture that Isha had claimed as his own before the Luminari standardized the rest. The walls were raw crystal — unpolished, catching the bioluminescent veins in angles that made the light do strange things. Shelves carved from the crystal itself held scrolls and artifacts and things that Jayde had learned not to touch.
Isha sat on his cushion. Kitsune form — fox-shaped, silver-furred, ancient eyes that held more years than most civilizations. His tails — all nine of them — were still. The stillness meant he was listening.
