Ariana and Yvonne left the restaurant and were on their way to the location Fidel's man had sent her.
"This is risky Ari. What if the man decides to harm you because you know he's a fraud?" Yvonne stated her concern.
"Don't worry so much. We'd be fine" Ariana said, trying to convince herself in the process.
Reaching the location, Ariana noticed it was a dark alley way. It was daytime but the sunlight barely reached the exact spot the man had asked them to meet. The buildings were tall and mostly monochromatic and had dark alleys between them; not getting enough sunlight.
"This is sketchy" Yvonne admitted.
"Are you sure this is where your mother talked with this man? She always seemed too posh to bother herself with places like this" she added.
"I'm as surprised as you are" Ariana said.
They were still seated in the car as Ariana texted Fidel's man. "I'm here. Where are you?".
Few seconds later, he replied "You're the one in the BMW?".
"Yes" she answered his text.
After a while, she saw two men emerge from the alley. One clad in leather from head to toe and the other looked like a normal friendly guy you'd see in any neighborhood. Not sketchy or suspicious at all.
"Do you think that's them?" Yvonne asked turning to her friend. "I guess it is" she answered.
"The second one doesn't look like he can harm a fly. I guess they're not a dangerous as we thought?" Ariana asked this time.
"I don't know girl. But I'm definitely not judging the book by the cover" Yvonne said.
Both men stopped in front of the car and that was Ariana's signal to come out. She turned to Yvonne and they both shared a look before coming out of the car.
Seeing it wasn't who they expected, the men had a surprised look on their faces. The man on leather didn't waste a second to pull a gun out from his back pocket, making both girls flinch.
"Fuck!" Yvonne said with a hand over her mouth.
"Please wait. We just want to talk" Ariana said, trying to maintain her cool though she felt her fingers trembling. Things had quickly took an unexpected turn.
"I remember you" the other guy whom Ariana suspected was Fidel said.
"Put the gun down". Fidel said to the man in leather standing beside him.
The man placed the gun back in his pocket but the murderous intent in his eyes didn't falter.
"Yes, you worked on a document of mine a year ago. I'm Ariana Sterling".
"Yes yes, I remember. What do you want? I take it that the reason you are here is because you found out something you're not supposed to" Fidel said with a calm expression.
He was the complete opposite of the man standing beside him who was for some reason, agitated and hotheaded. He even seemed like a normal random guy you'd see walking across the street, looking all innocent and all when in truth, was a fraudster.
"I just wanted to ask you a few questions. That's all, I won't report you or anything" Ariana said.
"Ask away. I'm a busy man" he said.
"When you met my mother what exactly did she tell you?" Ariana questioned.
"Young lady, I didn't know you were her daughter at first till I saw the surnames. She told me she needed a fake deed of ownership document for someone but I was surprised when I found out the someone was her own daughter" Fidel answered with a sinister smirk on his face which completely altered his innocent appearance for a split second.
Hearing his words, Ariana felt a strange emotion envelope her. She hadn't felt anything like it before and she couldn't explain it but it hurt.
She felt her lips tremble, unable to ask her next question as tears began to flow from her eyes. Yvonne walked up to her and gave her a hug.
"I don't have all day ladies" Fidel said and Ariana broke the hug and wiped away her tears.
Trying to gain composure once again, she looked at Fidel straight in the eye and asked her next question "And when you found out I was her daughter you still decided to do the dirty job for her? Why?".
Fidel scoffed as he muttered "The nerve she has..".
"Look young lady, I do what I'm told and I get paid heavily for it. I got a family to feed!" He answered blatantly.
"Imagine your own child being lied to like that" Ariana said in a low tone but the man heard anyway.
"Fix your family issues girl. I don't know what you did to your mother to have her do such but I just did my job. So don't blame me for your problems" Fidel said.
He was about walking away but he suddenly fell to the ground before he could take a step and so did his subordinate.
Ariana and Yvonne were left dumbstruck as they walked towards the men to see blood steeping out of a hole that was created in their chest by a bullet.
Both girls looked around to see if they could locate where the bullets came from as it didn't make much of a sound meaning a silencer was used.
Screaming in terror, they both ran towards the car and entered before quickly driving off.
Ariana's hands trembled on the wheels and Yvonne was also equally petrified.
"What just happened? Who killed them? What the hell just happened?" Yvonne panicked.
"I don't know, I don't know. What are we going to do? Will the police think it's us? This is insane!" Ariana said as unwanted tears flowed down her eyes, blurring her vision.
She eventually parked the car after they had gone a safe distance from the crime scene, taking a moment to get herself.
Both girls breathed heavily as they tried to calm down.
