Both Atlas and I froze. "She was drugged," Jane continued. "Her water was laced. I'm not sure which drug, but it would have forced her into a deep, unshakable sleep. The headache she has now is a side effect."
My heart pounded. "So… someone planned this? They knew I was a lycan?"
Jane nodded. "Yes. This wasn't random. Whoever did this knew exactly what they were doing."
Atlas's eyes darkened, his lycan pushing forward. Jane paled and instinctively moved closer to the door.
I cupped Atlas's face in my hands. "Stay with me. I need you—not your lycan."
He closed his eyes, exhaling slowly until his hazel eyes returned. Relief flooded me.
"It's hard to hear this, little one," he murmured. "My lycan wants blood."
"I know," I whispered. "But your control is what we need right now. We'll find the bastard faster with you in charge."
Jane bowed her head. "I'll report back if I learn anything else." She left quietly.
