An endless grassland.
This is a vast pasture, and all the residents here are skilled at raising cattle and sheep.
The cattle and sheep raised here are the primary food source for the residents of Fiore Kingdom.
This is the location for the current requested mission.
Also, the best viewing spot for the aurora is not far from here.
Following the client's address, Aux traveled onward.
When he passed a certain pasture,
he surprisingly found someone dressed in the same clothes as a cow, busy among the herd.
That herdsman was also strange, wearing a cow costume with shorts over it.
He even had a peculiar double-bladed axe on his back.
"Hello."
Aux greeted the other party, preparing to pretend he was lost to strike up a conversation.
"Moo..."
The busy herdsman was clearly a drama queen, responding to him with a cow's moo.
Aux found it amusing, "Excuse me, where is Mr. Cory's house?"
The herdsman pointed to the left, "Walk another thousand meters down this slope, and you'll see a blue house. That's Mr. Cory's house, moo~"
How interesting.
Aux felt he was very amusing, but considering he still had to work, he temporarily stopped their conversation.
He slowly walked in the direction the herdsman pointed.
Before long, his figure gradually disappeared from the herdsman's sight.
Aux left decisively.
However, he didn't notice that behind him, a young blonde girl was slowly approaching... Mr. Cory was a simple herdsman.
His house was also very conspicuous, and he quickly welcomed Aux inside.
"Mr. Cory, let's get straight to the point. Your request states that you need to soothe hundreds of dairy cows?" Aux directly asked about the mission.
Mr. Cory nodded with a worried expression, "Recently, many outsiders have come here, passing by my pasture every day, frightening the pregnant dairy cows so much that they stop producing milk."
"I wanted to find a Mage to help the cows regulate their bodies. I heard that Mages possess great and magical powers."
"I hope you can help soothe the cows so they can continue to produce milk smoothly. Only by getting milk out quickly can it be sold for a good price."
Regulate cows!
Aux's mouth twitched involuntarily. It would be easier for a veterinarian to handle this kind of thing. As the saying goes, there's a specialty for every profession!
This Mr. Cory was completely desperate. If it were Natsu or Gray who came, the former wouldn't just fail to soothe them, he'd probably burn a few cows to try them out.
If it were the latter, frozen beef and iced milk would be on the menu, and he might even mix some shaved ice into the milk to taste it.
"I can try to handle this small matter."
Aux didn't say he could definitely complete it; he still needed to see the condition of these dairy cows.
As for being scared... Aux probably guessed that those outsiders were all coming to see the rare aurora beauty that only appears once every hundred years.
After understanding the mission content, Mr. Cory quickly took him to the pasture.
But he didn't expect... Mr. Cory's pasture was actually where the guy who pretended to be a cow was located.
"Mr. Cory, does someone help you raise livestock in this pasture?" Aux asked.
The cow herdsman was not there at the moment, and it was unknown if he had left or was hiding somewhere.
"No!" Mr. Cory denied, "I raise the livestock in this pasture myself; I've never hired anyone."
How is that possible!
Aux was sure he hadn't seen wrong, but Mr. Cory said no outsider was helping.
Then the identity of that cow herdsman was problematic.
"When I came, I saw a herdsman wearing clothes identical to a cow's skin, with a double-bladed axe on his back." Aux recalled the other party's appearance.
The clothes clung tightly to his body, as if they were real. He didn't know where the other party had them custom-made; they were too realistic.
He originally thought Mr. Cory could tell him something, but unexpectedly, after hearing Aux's words, Mr. Cory's face turned pale!
His face twitched uncontrollably, and his eyes revealed intense fear.
He seemed to be frightened by his words.
"Mr. Cory?" Aux asked.
Mr. Cory took a deep breath and explained with a heavy tone, "That's a Cow Demon!"
Aux was about to laugh when his brain, as if electrocuted, suddenly triggered a memory.
Cow herdsman!
Carrying a double-bladed axe!
Isn't this the lecherous Celestial Spirit, Taros, the Taurus?
Thinking of this, Aux annoyedly scratched his hair. He hadn't thought much of it at the time.
He simply thought the other party was a herdsman pretending to be a cow.
It turned out to be a Celestial Spirit all along!
He thought for a moment, wasn't Taurus captured by Lucy in a place like a pasture?
"There's a legend of a Cow Demon in this pasture. Perhaps a few years ago, at night, a Cow Demon was often seen moving among the cattle."
"Afterward, this situation became more and more frequent, but no one's cattle or sheep were lost, so gradually no one discussed it, and the Cow Demon never appeared again."
"If there really is a humanoid cow monster, then it's probably the long-lost Cow Demon. It would be great if the Mage could eliminate it."
Mr. Cory recounted the story, and finally hoped that he could eliminate the other party in one fell swoop.
However, Aux was in a predicament.
Celestial Spirits don't die in the Human World; even he couldn't completely eliminate the other party.
Moreover, he wasn't a Celestial Mage, and he couldn't even capture a Celestial Spirit!
"Perhaps the reason your cows are scared and not producing milk isn't because of outsiders, but possibly because of this Cow Demon." Aux replied.
The problem now was what to do. He couldn't possibly ask Lucy to come and capture the Celestial Spirit.
He decided to try communicating first!
Aux decided to wait and see. The Celestial Spirit was a harmless creature, and a good talk might lead to a resolution.
"Taros!"
Aux took two steps forward and called out to the dairy cows in the pasture, to see if he could summon Taros.
Moo... To his surprise, it actually worked.
The pasture grass rolled, and Taros sprang out from underground, standing before him.
"Cow Demon!!"
Mr. Cory trembled with fear. Although the rumored Cow Demon hadn't done anything bad, it didn't stop him from being afraid.
"Taurus, Taros... Why are you here, and is Mr. Cory's cows being scared and not producing milk also related to you?" Aux asked.
Taros also didn't expect someone to know his name.
His eyes lingered on him for a few seconds, and he looked a little disappointed after confirming he wasn't a Celestial Mage.
"I am waiting for my master here." Taros explained, "These cows are milked all year round. I heard their cries of pain, so I stopped them from producing milk!"
Speechless!
Aux looked at it with dead fish eyes. Does Taurus also like to meddle in others' affairs?
And it's a Celestial Spirit!
It only shares the same skin with ordinary dairy cows; otherwise, they have no relation at all, right?
"I don't care about you waiting for your master, but these dairy cows are vital to Mr. Cory's livelihood and crucial to my mission. Don't cause trouble again." Aux said.
However, Taros didn't want to listen to his nonsense and directly gripped the double-bladed axe on his back.
He proved with his actions that he was determined to intervene in this matter!
