Chapter 164 - Chapter 163: The Eloping Spider and Black Cat (First Update)

"Peter is missing?"

"How could it be."

Hawk hurriedly explained after Gwen hung up the phone, while walking towards the car parked by the roadside, he curiously said, "Wasn't Peter supposed to be going to Seattle with Mary for this Christmas holiday?"

He and Gwen were originally going too.

But one sentence from Helen changed their minds.

In Helen's words, this year was the first year of changing the relationship between him and Gwen, and also the first year of the two living together, so it's not good to celebrate the New Year outside; they should stay at home.

For this reason, the Stacy family didn't invite Gwen to celebrate New Year on Long Island.

Hawk and Gwen were good kids, very obedient to Helen's words, so they didn't go anywhere this Christmas, obediently staying in New York City.

Going to Kamar-Taj doesn't count.

That was squeezing out time from their busy schedules.

"Peter didn't go."

"Didn't go?"

"Yeah, Mary's family went. The specifics weren't clear in the phone call, but you can tell she's very anxious. Let's go to her place."

"Okay."

Hawk nodded his head.

"Are you driving or am I driving?"

"You drive, go faster. I feel Mary is about to lose her mind."

"Alright."

Hawk grabbed the car keys that Gwen handed over, took a step forward, walked to the car door, opened it, and sat straight in.

When he started the car and released the handbrake, Gwen just happened to come running to the passenger side door, opened it, and got in.

Hawk stepped on the gas, and the rest of the Toyota Corolla's engine roared like an arrow, darting out and quickly heading towards Queens.

Half an hour later.

Queens, Fifth Community.

The speeding Toyota Corolla drifted at the entrance of the community road, smoothly entering into the street, then very precisely parked in the middle between two classic American detached houses.

The house on the left is the Parkers'.

The one on the right is the Jians'.

Mary came out of the Parker's house door, and upon seeing Gwen get out of the car, she ran up and hugged Gwen, "Gwen, Peter is missing."

Gwen held the almost crying Mary and comforted her.

Following them out was Peter's Aunt Mei.

Hawk nodded at Aunt Mei, whose face also showed concern.

Aunt Mei forced a smile on her face.

"Thank you, Hawk."

"Peter is my friend."

Soon.

The four returned to the house.

Mary remained silent, just holding Gwen's hand and crying.

Hawk could only look at Aunt Mei sitting on the side, and curiously asked, "When did Peter go missing?"

Aunt Mei shook her head and said, "This holiday, Peter went with me to relatives in New Jersey, spent Christmas Eve there, he said he wanted to return to New York City, so I let him go first, I got home last night, thought Peter was already sleeping."

After hearing this, Hawk turned to look at Mary, "And you, when did Peter last call you?"

Mary shook her head, "About a week ago."

Upon hearing this, Hawk raised his eyebrows.

"A week? You're just saying this now?"

"Peter told me he was busy with some things recently and not to worry, I was afraid of disturbing him, so I didn't call. When I returned yesterday noon, I saw Peter's car was gone and thought he went to deliver pizzas, so I didn't care. But today, when Aunt Mei and I entered Peter's room, we found his room hadn't been used for at least a week."

"Deliver pizzas?"

Gwen, hearing Mary's story, blinked, "I thought Peter was working for Horn Daily?"

Mary looked at Gwen, "It's another part-time job, started in October, but he didn't let me tell you guys."

Gwen turned to look at Hawk sitting beside, "Do you know... never mind, asking you won't help, it's brotherhood."

Hawk watched his fiancée answering herself, twitching the corner of his mouth.

But he didn't voice a rebuttal.

Because he did indeed know about Peter delivering pizzas, though Peter didn't tell him, he discovered it himself, thinking since Peter didn't tell him, he wouldn't be a big mouth and naturally wouldn't reveal Peter's pizza delivery job.

Hawk then looked at Mary.

"Did you confirm the pizza place?"

"Called Early, the pizza place said they were also looking for Peter, they said on the morning of the 26th, Peter took two boxes of pizzas to deliver, ended up delivering only to one customer, the second customer called angrily scolding their store."

"Morning of the 26th?"

"Yeah."

"Exactly one week ago."

Hawk frowned and looked at Mary, "When did you call Peter on the 26th?"

Mary thought for a moment, finally found the call record.

"Eleven in the morning."

"Right in the middle of delivering pizza."

"Delivered to one place, didn't deliver to the second."

Gwen added and then looked at Hawk, "Peter isn't that kind of person, unless encountering something very urgent."

Hawk also nodded.

Not mentioning the good-natured reputation, nicknamed New Yorkers' friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Just talking about Peter having superpowers, didn't think of taking money from bank vaults directly, nor think of double-crossing, just relying on his selfies to earn some meager bonuses, even walked the delivery path shows Peter definitely isn't someone who abuses his abilities wantonly.

Naturally, it's even more far-fetched to say he'd run away with a box of pizza.

So the question arises.

Where did Peter go?

But regardless of where Peter went, he's definitely not in New York City now.

Because…

Hawk's Sixth Sense spread throughout New York City, and he didn't sense Peter's presence anywhere in the city.

Of course, we can't rule out that someone used some high-tech method to hide Peter, or someone more powerful blocked his sensing.

Let's not talk about the former for now.

The latter is highly unlikely, because at this point, there are only a handful of people whose power surpasses his.

Thor, whose strength is similar to his, might not even be beaten if Thor truly awakens his Thunder Divine Authority.

But Thor is a straightforward guy, acting out of discontent, and wouldn't bother using such methods.

Besides, his relationship with me is quite good, so it's impossible he'd target Peter.

The second and third are The Ancient One and God King Odin, who has been sent to a retirement home on Earth since faking his death.

But these two are also unlikely.

So it leaves two possibilities.

Either Peter was captured by a villain with high-tech capabilities.

Or…

Peter has already left New York City, and no one knows where he went.

Hawk leans towards the latter.

He thought for a moment, then curiously looked at Aunt Mei and Mary: "What was Peter busy with before he disappeared?"

Mary thought for a moment, then shook her head blankly.

Aunt Mei seemed to have remembered something and said to Hawk: "Oh right, when we were in New Jersey, Felicia often called Peter."

Hawk raised an eyebrow.

"Felicia? Felicia Hardy?"

"Yes, I even asked Peter what it was about, but he didn't say."

"No answer on the phone."

As he spoke to Aunt Mei, Mary had already quickly called Felicia after hearing Aunt Mei mention the name.

No one answered.

The next second.

Mary jumped up from the sofa: "I'm going to find her."

Gwen reacted and stood up too, quickly stopping Mary: "Can you drive in your current state?"

"Then what do we do?"

"Take our car."

Gwen said, then looked at Hawk.

Hawk saw this and said to Aunt Mei: "Let's go find Felicia first and see if she knows about Peter's disappearance."

Having said that, he also got up, said goodbye to Aunt Mei, then caught up with Mary and Gwen, who were eagerly heading out the door.

Very soon.

Hawk got back on the road, with Gwen in the passenger seat and Mary repeatedly calling Felicia from the back seat, heading quickly towards Osborne Manor outside the city.

"Still no answer," Mary said as she hung up the phone once more.

Gwen, sitting in the passenger seat, thought of something: "Come to think of it, Felicia didn't attend the charity event held by the New York Police Department on the 27th this year."

Hawk glanced at Gwen.

"Did George say that?"

"My mom said it."

Gwen said: "It should be the 28th, yes, the 28th. You and Thor went to a fight, and my mom came over. Oh, didn't you ask about the lemon sea bass that night?"

Hawk recalled the scene from that night and nodded.

"Yes."

"When my mom and I were chatting in the backyard, she mentioned that Felicia was supposed to attend, but in the end, she didn't, and her assistant came instead."

Gwen explained.

This sort of thing was quite common, as it wasn't an important event, and it was normal for people who planned to attend to suddenly cancel.

For the New York Police Department, if people don't show, it's fine, as long as the donation comes through.

Back then, when Helen told her, Gwen just treated it as a fun fact and moved on.

Now it seems.

"Hiss!"

"Peter disappeared, and could it be that Felicia is also missing? And by coincidence, did Peter call Felicia before he disappeared?"

"Could they have eloped?"

Gwen's pupils constricted as she cautiously glanced at Mary in the backseat through the rearview mirror.

In sight.

Mary was anxiously looking at the front of the vehicle, seemingly not sharing Gwen's wild thoughts.

Very soon.

They arrived at Osborne Manor, and because Hawk and Gwen had come here before, the old butler of the manor opened the gates for them.

After a while.

The three got out of the car, and Mary hurriedly asked the old butler if he knew where Peter had gone.

The next second.

The old butler was slightly taken aback and looked at Mary.

"Peter and Miss Felicia left New York City on a flight at noon on the 26th. Didn't Peter tell you?"
