By morning, I said goodbye to Rose.
She was in her crib playing with stuffed animals, as innocent and oblivious to what was going on.
I picked her up and held her close to me, memorizing everything about her.
"Daddy loves you. So much."
"Dada back?"
"Dada comes back. I promise."
Katherine was watching from the doorway. "Don't make promises you can't keep." She said with tears in her eyes.
"I'm keeping this one. For her and for you."
We left Rose with Susan as I took Katherine to a different room, making love to her, desperate and final, possibly for one last time.
I memorized everything. Her touch, every sound, and sensation.
"I love you so much."
"I love you too. Come back to me."
"I will. I promise."
The FBI positioned snipers, surveillance teams, and backup everywhere.
Timothy was coordinating. "If Dante tries anything, we take him down immediately."
"He knows you're there. He's expecting and counting on it."
