We watched Dante's video again. His final message revealed that he had a five-year-old son, Hector, who was being trained for revenge.
I couldn't stop the tears as I kept thinking about that child.
"We can't let this happen," I said to Tony. "We shouldn't let another child be raised on hatred and violence."
"What do you propose?"
"We find him and stop the cycle before it even starts."
"And then what? Katherine, we can't kill a five-year-old child."
"No. But we can save him, remove him from Dante's people, and give him a real life. A choice."
Tony was quiet, carefully thinking. Then he nodded. "You're right. We should break the cycle properly."

"Let me understand this. You want to find Dante's son and... what exactly? Adopt him?"
"Protect him. Get him away from Dante's legacy and associates and break the cycle of violence."
