Chapter 16 - Chapter 15:... Why the Fuck?

"Wait what?"

"You're required to memorize the Academy Anthem, Vision, Mission, Goal, and score an A or A+ to even get in a Nexus Academy... Or that's what I was told. I just listened to my parents so, whether what I was told about is true or not, you're suffering in the torment I was once placed in."

Helios says as he patted on the abnormally large stacks of books on the table. I question why they still use books honestly.

"Oh yeah, this is just the traditional portion of learning, the actual start of learning is over 40,000 topics and counting. Painful? Fuck yeah. But is it worth it? If you count boosting your own psionic pulse a bit more through learning worth it, then yes."

"Okay what the fuck? Are you messing with me?"

Ignoring Cypher's obnoxiously loud laughter, I stared at Helios, my eyes completely devoid of any lingering emotion. But Helios stared back with the same expression.

"You... I feel so bad..."

"Don't. Cause I'm making you go through the same suffering I had."

Yeah, now I'm cooked.

______

... Yeah what the fuck? How the fuck is some simple Algebra difficult?

"How the-"

"Helios, am I seeing things? Did Amon jus-"

"I see it Cypher, I fucking see it. The fucking question that took me years to understand, he answered it immediately.

... Look, back in my world, I was in fact a scholar, but I was no genius. At best I was among the lower scoring scholars.

If basic Algebra is difficult enough to take years to be solved, then...

"Hey, umm..."

I wrote a simple General Mathematics question in front of them.

"Do you know the answer to this?"

3x + 7 = 19

Helios and Cypher stared at it like it was some sort of extremely dangerous item. In fact, their gazes slowly went to me.

"Amon... What... What is this?"

Okay, Helios, I thought you were a genius but... Yeah I'm done.

"Do you guys know what you're seeing?"

Both Cypher and Helios shook their heads.

I could only sigh.

"The first task is to isolate the x, and to do that, we transpose 7 to the other side converting 7 to - 7 making the equation 3x is equal to 19 minus 7. We equate that leaving 3x be and subtract 19 from 7 leaving us with 3x = 12. Now to fully isolate x, we divide 3x by 3 and do the same for 12. Now we have 3x over 3 equals to 12 over 3. Because 3 over 3 is equals to one, we cancel out 3 leaving x. Now we are left with 12 over 3. All we have to do is divide 12 by 3. 12 divided by 3 is 4 and doing the opposite, 3 multiplied by 4 will give us the product 12 so the answer is x is equals to 4."

3x + 7 = 19

V

x = 4

Right as I was done explaining, Helios and Cypher were writing every single thing that I said as if it were some holy scriptures you can only read once.

"What's transpose?"

Cypher asked. Though still stunned for a moment, I quickly recovered and explained thoroughly.

"Why do we need to isolate x?"

Again, I explained thoeoughly. Though I just wrote the equation on a whim, there really isn't any meaning to it. We aren't finding the zeroes of the numbers either, just the x.

At this point I'm not even the one learning, instead the roels were switched. Helios and Cypher, despite being centuries older than me, now look like highschool students. Not just the average ones, they legit look like one of those scholars who love learning.

"Now do you understand?"

"I get about aquarter of what you said."

"0 idea on everything that you said."

Never fucking mind.

You know... Maybe I'm not the one who's supposed to learn, maybe I got reincarnated to this damned world cause everyone's so fucking retarded I'd say only a minority are even capable of solving Basic Calculus at this point. And none of what I stated are even college level in difficulty...

I wonder how humanity survived for this long? Maybe they aren't good at maths but they are at everything else, right? Maybe science, yeah, that might work. Let's go with something simple... Or complex, idk, I barely listened to my professors who discuss about sciences anyway.

_______

Someone's POV

"How far?"

"300 kilometers away from Evanguade."

"Tsk. Assemble a task force and inform the Director General. These Xenon are starting to grow hostile."

"Consider it done."

Nearly 3 millennia had passed and now they're going rogue. Why? Just because Void vanished? No, that can't be. That wouldn't explain their old behavior a millennium ago... Why are they going rogue?

I clicked my tongue in frustration.

"Link comms, Delta to Frostwulf."

________

"The Gods have spoken."

Enormous tentacle creatures sizing planets individually were gathered in a vast open space far in the cosmos.

"You have heard truths."

"The Gods... To think they have found yet another one... From where?"

"The humanoids' territory, more specifically, Evanguade in the Korsal System."

"The Korsal System? Are they approaching the border now?"

"2 years from now."

"A bit far..."

"Worry not. One of our brothers are approaching."

"Ah, I see... When will he make contact?"

"2 years."

"Just enough time then. The Gods of Catastrophe have spoken, by the end of thess 2 years, the new chosen shall be tested."

Each word spoken by the creatures sounded incoherent. Though one could understand what they spoke, the sound was unpleasant and distorted enough that it could make one go insane.

There isn't much to say from here, but there are things far more interesting that's brewing.
