"Begin."
As soon as Helios spoke, Amon dashed forward with the 3 spike gears floating just behind him, following him as if they were being dragged.
Amon swung downward and the 3 spikes, forming a whip, followed. Helios merrly controlled one of the drones he controlled and simply shot the center spike causing the 3 spikes to be disorientated for a moment but caused it to completely collapse and fall on the ground before it could hit him.
Amon didn't mind much as he lunged forward to hit Helios only to find himself fall on his way as Helios side stepped quick enough causing Amon to fail his lunge.
Amon did a tech roll quickly recovering from the fall. Controlling the 3 spikes once more, he activated their ranged feature, the spikes opened up like beaks and shot beams.
Helios used another drone and formed a barrier large enough to cover him head to toe. Amon clicked his tongue but he didn't let up. Dashing forward, he used tje spikes like a whip once again and made it form a spear shape before thrusting forward. Once more, Helios side stepped and the spikes missed by an inch.
As if Amon already expected it, he controlled the spikes to surround Helios, catching the man by surprise. Thinking he finally got Helios, Amon clenched his fist and the 3 spikes quickly closed in, but it didn't end as Amon expected.
Before the spikes hit Helios, Helios made the drones shoot 2 of the spikes allowing him to escape the entrapment which made the last active spike miss again.
"Fuck!"
Amon quickly tried to recover from such a blunder but he really couldn't stand a chance. For the next remaining minutes he went on and lunged, attacked, repeat and so but not a single one landed.
"Times up."
Helios immediately shot a beam from a drone straight to Amon's chest causing the boy to fly meters back and lay on the floor.
"... Guess I've got much to learn."
Amon says as he stared at the ceiling of the room with a deadpan. He didn't expect to win but he didn't expect to end up failing so badly either.
Helios chuckled at Amon's remark and approached him, helping him him up from the ground. Once he did, both walked back to the resting area of the combat room.
"Honestly, you're a quick one."
"hm?"
"I've never seen anyone recover so quickly from every bulnder. Usually after 2 or 3 people often lose all their motivation and start making more and more blunders. But you don't seem to end up that way. Instesd the more you fail the more frustrated you get and the more direct your attacks become but at the same time, still maintaining a strategic approach."
Amon pondered at Helios' assessment for a hit.
"Eh, I'm probably just stubborn."
Helios chuckled.
"Does that apply to the moments you kept using the same attack repeatedly?"
A teasing glint was on his eye which made Amon give him a wry smile. There were many moments he repeatedly used the same attack or tried to corner Helios and then use the same attack but he couldn't really get him at all, but he didn't exactly use the attacks twice or thrice or the whole time.
Helios chuckled as he sat on a bench in the resting area while Maon sat on the opposite side of him.
"You're quite amazing though. The way you attacked, while certainly amateurish, did contain many interesting ideas. Like that imprisonment thing! How'd you think of that?"
"I... Can't really say? I just thiught of it in the heat of the moment."
Helios was stunned at his explanation.
"In the... Heat of the moment... You thought of the idea during the fight?"
Amon merely nodded. He didn't really understand why Helios was surprised. Sure, on-the-spot strategies are impressive, but most of the time they aren't even effective much like his own.
"... Amon, you're a fucking genius."
Helios couldn't help but blurt out.
"Eh? What?"
Helios slammed his hands on the table between him and Amon as he leaned forward.
"You thought of it ON THE SPOT! NO ONE– Ehem... No one's ever done that at all, not even once!"
Helios attempted to keep himself professional, but the surprise was something he really couldn't hide.
"E-eh?"
Amon was really, really stunned. Just how did people fight in this universe? How come on-the-spot methods have yet to be discovered? The more he questioned the more confused he was.
Considering this was in fact a sci-fi universe with the era now in the 7th millennia, he expected upgrades of thought processes as well. He didn't expect people were so closed minded!
"Why... Has no one thought of it? Isn't it common in, err... The past or something?"
Helios looked at him a bit confused.
"Common in the past? No, there hasn't been a single record at all! Wherever you heard that is a total lie!"
Helios completely broke away from his professionalism as he began ranting on and on about how there has never been a record about someone ever doing such a thing which surprised me. But the content was a bit to generalized so I went specific with my question. Apparently he was referring combat-wise.
Yeah pretty much, but people with high battle intellect could do it like that one protagonist who stretches his limbs amd punches his villains to concussion or something by creating moves and methods that are, for some reason, effective against his opponents.
But I didn't think too deeply about it as maybe it's just really rare that no one really thought that a person could do it or one dude who did do it just gloatef about how he pre-planned whatever he did to his enemies cause he wanted to look cooler or something.
After that, I continued on my training to get the hang of my NEXUS gears a bit more so that in the future I'd find myself adapt to these NEXUS gears a bit more easily.
