While floating in mid-air with his hands behind his back, Sandy recited the line slowly, looking down at the Going Merry like a calm gentleman swaying in the wind.
He had no choice. Back in high school, since he never studied enough to write cool lines himself, he could only borrow them from textbooks.
Chopper's eyes sparkled. "S-Sugoi!!"
"Tch." Sanji spat out smoke. "He's showing off again."
Zoro frowned thoughtfully.
Six Qi? What the hell was that supposed to mean?
Sandy, of course, had no idea that these random textbook lines would later inspire Zoro to develop a new technique—"Six Paths Crossroad"—all because of this nonsense moment.
Sandy landed lightly back on the ship.
"How was that?" he said with a grin.
Nami sighed. "Can you focus on the situation and stop worrying about stupid lines!?"
Zoro stepped forward, curious.
"Sandy, what was that 'Six Qi' you mentioned?"
"Huh?" Sandy scratched his head. "Uhh… wind, dampness, cold, fire, heat, dryness? Something like that."
"'Something like that'?!" Zoro's face darkened.
Sanji muttered, "So you don't know what you're talking about."
Sandy's expression turned black.
"What? You got something to say about my cool lines?"
CLASH! BANG!
The next second, he and Sanji were already fighting.
They moved their fight over to the deck of the Village (the small dock on the ship). Sanji bit his cigarette and shouted.
"You bastard! I've been pissed at you for a long time! How dare you hug Miss Nami every day!?"
Sandy shouted back, "What business is it of yours!? And YOU'RE looking to get beat up!"
The others on the ship knew they weren't actually trying to kill each other, so Usopp and Chopper excitedly cheered them on.
Sanji smirked. "Stupid bastard. I'll let you see my new move. Try not to die."
Sandy snorted. "Kill me? Please. There are cows flying in the sky."
"NANI!?" Chopper panicked. "Flying cows!? Where!? Where!?"
Sanji twitched, insulted, but then he began spinning rapidly. His leg heated up and turned bright red.
"You still have time to surrender," Sanji warned. "Don't cry later."
Sandy shook his head. "Not bad, but your speed's kinda meh. Can you even hit me?"
"You'll know soon enough."
Sanji glared sharply.
"Demon Wind Leg—Level One: Minced Meat!!"
A flash of red light appeared—Sanji kicked so fast even Zoro barely saw it.
BANG!
Sandy raised his leg, and the two kicks collided. The shockwave blasted outward.
Zoro's eyes narrowed.
Sanji had taken a massive step forward. His strength had jumped noticeably.
The two separated. Sanji frowned.
He still couldn't break Sandy's defense.
This guy… what kind of monster was he!?
Sandy grinned. "Not bad. The impact plus the heat is stronger than Iron Body. Sanji, let me show you the new technique I developed!"
"Space Field…"
A circular bubble formed around Sanji. Sandy extended his right hand, thumb, index, and middle fingers pointed upward—palm facing Sanji.
It looked ridiculous.
But it definitely wasn't a joke.
Sanji froze, unable to understand what Sandy was doing.
Then Sandy grinned and whispered:
"No Empty World!!!"
Suddenly Sanji grabbed his neck, eyes bulging.
He… couldn't breathe.
"What—!?" He panicked.
Why was there no air!?
Sandy didn't dare let him suffocate too long. He quickly restored the space around Sanji to normal.
Sanji collapsed to the ground, gasping desperately.
"Cough! Cough! Hah—!!"
The others immediately jumped down.
Usopp shouted, "What happened!? Why did Sanji suddenly look like he was dying!?"
Chopper panicked. "Sandy! What did you do!? Sanji, are you okay!?"
Sandy patted Sanji's back. "You good?"
Sanji finally caught his breath.
Then he exploded.
"What the hell did you do to me, bastard!? Why couldn't I breathe!?"
"What!?" Nami demanded. "Explain! What did you do!?"
Zoro waited silently.
Sandy said casually:
"I removed the air from inside my ability field. I sucked all the oxygen away."
"N-NANI!?" Everyone shouted at once.
Usopp's jaw dropped. "How the hell can you DO that!?"
Sandy laughed proudly. "Why not? I told you, I'm a genius. My techniques are usually finishing moves! Hiahiahia!"
(If he hadn't read the original story and known Caesar used this, he wouldn't even know it existed.)
But learning and improving abilities was part of growth.
Hehehe…
Zoro nodded. "If the opponent doesn't know what's happening… yeah. That's an instant finisher."
Sandy shook his head. "Not always. Guys with freakish bodies, or people who've seen the move before, or anyone who can foresee attacks—they can counter it."
"Is that so…" Zoro murmured.
Suddenly Sandy stopped and froze.
"Huh?" Zoro asked. "What's wrong?"
Sandy said, "Old lady Kokoro. She's entered Water 7. I'll go see her."
Nami grabbed him. "If you run off, how are we supposed to find you!?"
Sandy rolled his eyes. "Grany Kokoro runs the Sea Train. If we're going to rescue Robin, we'll need her. Relax. I'll be right back."
He stepped into the air again, reciting dramatically:
"Riding the uprightness of heaven and earth, controlling the harmony of the Six Qi… to wander infinitely—I am free and unrestrained! Wahahahaha!"
Sanji muttered, "I really want to beat that guy up."
Zoro: "Same."
"…"
Using his Observation Haki, Sandy located Kokoro's presence and followed it to a bar.
He slapped his forehead.
That drunk grandma!!
The first thing she did after arriving in Water was run straight to drink.
