Chapter 41 - Mantis Stalks The Cicada, While The Bird Stalks The Mantis...

Walking back, Archer barely managed to keep himself stable. Still healing from the 'emergency' treatment, it was only thanks to the crazy pain radiating from his recently stitched-back left arm that he was able to stay conscious. If not, the sudden inexplicable drain he felt when dealing with monsieur Bigfoot would've already dematerialised him back to the Spirit realm, or worse...

Kicked him from the Holy Grail War

Damn it, I still need to get rid of him...

But most importantly of all, it was the strange duo that claimed themselves to be 'Faeries' from 'Avalon' that had made him keep up his guard. He may have come from the present era, and may have been a half-baked magician who needed to be boosted by scamming themself into entering a slave-like contract with Alaya, and may have lacked the essential knowledge that most modern-day magicians have...

But even he knew that the Goblins barely dealt with this much technology!

So he had no choice but to believe that they had come from an alternate universe. And the one term that kept on popping up was...

The SCP Foundation

Though it was only 2004, there have been smidgens on the creepypasta side of the internet about an organisation dedicated to containing and protecting the magical (or 'anamalous', as they're rather called) creatures and 'thaumaturgical' devices from harming the common folk. During this time, he was too busy practising the only magic he could do with his measly 27 poor-quality magic circuits, and therefore only heard about this from the otaku classmates who resided in the dark realm at the back of the classrooms...

Either way, if what they say is all true, then forget about the Archetypes, we'd better pray we don't get butt-secked by those unholy creatures outside our world! The real question is, from which world are we living through...

Walking down the street, Shinji managed to locate the faint traces of battle that had just occured. Initially dismissing it as the usual HGW (Holy Grail War) battles, he soon stopped in his tracks...

For coming from the corners was the very foul musty woodland stench of those abominations

Shit, when and why did they come here!?

"Guilliman, Himiko, quickly come here! Help me find any traces of the Children! Look for blood, ah, or fur... Stelle, you're the lookout! Make sure that nobody comes this way! If anyone comes, try to redirect them somewhere else- no, put your bat down, conking is the last resort!"

Hurriedly admonishing the Stelle the Barbarian (party pooper - A certain raccoon bandit who has gained bloodlust), Guilliman began the autopsy of the scene (Psykic muggles are only useful for war - Codex Astartes, page 1145... maybe?), while Shinji used his barely stabilised Identity to force the area to reveal what had happened here (no matter where hE may be, for hiM, Hume levels are always on then low end of the spectrum). Seeing how the Child had interrupted the fight between Caster, Saber and Archer made him frown, for he realised that they had begun to regain their intelligence.

But what made him freeze was the latter scene, when a member of the Grey Knights barged in, wielding a Medicap on their shoulders

Shit, I must not reveal to them I'm here. If She finds out, GG to my days of mancaving...

Without revealing his inner turmoil, Shinji turned around normally, continuing his investigation, the only one realising his turmoil to be Gorly Man the Spreadsheet warrior (being an over-exploited officeworker always makes you attuned to the Excel-Force - Blacksploitation Ltd., Shinjuku, Japan)...

All the while as a certain blonde-haired, golden eyed girl munched on her 50th Big Mac atop a dark roof

A growl could be heard coming from behind her, from where the foul stench of rotting corpses could be smelt coming from its mouth...

"Not now, Atanti, we need to wait, for hE is still vigilant. You knokw as well as I do how powerful hIe is..."
