Chapter 571: Parallax vs. The Justice League (Part 3)

Luke vs. Sinestro and Parallax

Luke and Parallax engaged in battle.

Lightning flashed in the sky. Luke, with his four wings spread, transformed into an angel commanding thunder and lightning. Electricity spilled from his wings, sometimes forming chains, sometimes spears, and sometimes becoming ferocious, roaring beasts.

Parallax's body was simply too colossal. Every time it attacked, Luke felt the oppressive weight of facing a mountain. He could only maximize his speed and use his teleportation ability to maneuver around his opponent.

The two sides traded blows, navigating extreme danger.

A few minutes later, Luke suddenly teleported in front of Sinestro and threw a punch. Before the punch could land, an inexplicable sense of danger surged over him. He quickly twisted his body and retreated rapidly backward.

Parallax was pursuing from behind, its massive tail swinging with unimaginable force.

Bang!

The right side of Luke's armor was struck by the tail. Instantly, Luke felt half his body go numb. He was sent flying several thousand meters before he finally stopped.

Blood spurted from the corner of his mouth, landing on his face mask.

Luke clutched his chest, staring intently ahead. He had felt it—if he hadn't moved, his right arm would have been gone.

"What acute perception."

Sinestro praised him secretly. Just as he prepared to warp reality, the opponent responded. What a formidable individual.

Luke initiated a mental link for dialogue.

"If you don't mind, tell me, what is your purpose for coming to the Solar System?"

"What do you think?"

"If I hand over the Fear Essence, will you leave?"

"Don't waste any more time. It's meaningless."

Luke chuckled twice. "True to form for a former Corps Leader. Since you know I'm stalling for time, why don't you stop me?"

"Is it necessary?"

"You're right. You don't even care about your wife and daughter, so why would you care about those wicked criminals you've deployed?"

Sinestro's face darkened, and killing intent swelled in his eyes.

Luke continued, "I heard your wife and daughter met a terrible end. They were tortured before they died, and their heads were even cut off and displayed as trophies. Poor children, so young, never having experienced the beauty of the world, dying tragically because of their father."

"Sinestro, do you regret it?"

"You court death!"

Parallax let out an earth-shattering roar, spitting a colossal yellow light beam. Waves of heat and high temperature rushed forward. Luke swiftly dodged. The light beam followed close behind, sweeping up and down.

Its speed was too fast. With no other choice, Luke activated the Psychic Mode. His vision vanished, replaced by a 360-degree God's-eye view. Aided by the perception granted by the Psychic Mode, Luke could barely manage to evade the light beam's assault.

"Ignorant Earthling, you will pay the price for those words."

Sinestro raised his right hand. A dense array of energy cannons materialized behind him.

Boom!

The void shook. Nearly a thousand yellow light beams tore through space, attacking from all directions.

"Holy Crap!"

Luke was stunned. He quickly teleported to another location. The moment he reappeared, he was met by another overwhelming barrage of yellow lasers. He had to vanish again—once, twice, three times... After dozens of rapid teleportations, his energy reserves were drastically depleted, and he felt dizzy.

Yet, Sinestro's energy seemed limitless. Every time he raised his hand, a thousand light beams erupted, each possessing destructive power.

The situation was rapidly deteriorating.

The Justice League Joins In

Linda, who was secretly observing, urgently transmitted,

"Luke can't hold out much longer!"

Diana sliced off a Yellow Lantern warrior's head and quickly approached Hal and the others nearby.

"Are you the Green Lantern Corps?"

"Yes."

"The rest of the Yellow Lanterns are yours. We have to go support our teammate."

With a flash, she turned into a swift streak of red light, speeding toward Luke's location.

Hal turned back to his comrades.

"I'm going to see if I can help."

"Go! Leave this to us. Once we deal with the Yellow Lantern Corps, we'll follow immediately."

Hal said no more. He looked at the others and turned to leave.

Barry zipped up to him and transmitted a message.

"You're the one from Coast City?"

Hal nodded, looking at him confusedly. Barry pointed to the lightning symbol on his chest.

"The Flash."

Hal instantly understood.

"You... are a team?"

"That's right, the Justice League," Barry affirmed with a thumbs-up. "The strongest team on the surface. Our goal is to protect the Earth from alien devastation."

"How many members do you have?"

"Only six right now."

Hal's mind stirred, and he couldn't help but ask, "Do you need new members?"

Barry scrutinized him. After a moment of thought, he explained, "Our rules are pretty strict. Besides strength and character, you need the unanimous approval of all existing members to join."

"Honestly, we don't know much about you."

Hal said grimly, "You will see soon enough."

As he spoke, his expression was extremely serious, as if making a profound decision.

This battle had made him realize his own inadequacies. He needed to join an organization like the Justice League to use teamwork to resolve the disasters he couldn't handle alone.

The current issue was that the Justice League's overall strength was overwhelming. Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Linda could survive in space without armor. Wonder Woman was even more incredible; her divine artifacts, especially the Sword of Hephaestus, were unstoppable. Anything it touched was instantly cut in two.

The only one who seemed slightly less powerful was the Flash. His offense and defense weren't the strongest, but his speed was extraordinarily fast—so fast it made one's scalp tingle. Hal had never seen anyone run that quickly.

To gain recognition from these people, he had to demonstrate sufficient strength.

The six members separated, rapidly rushing toward the other battlefield. Diana was the first to arrive. From afar, she saw Luke being chased by the endless light beams, flitting back and forth like a mosquito, narrowly avoiding the blasts countless times.

Diana gritted her teeth. Her armor flashed red, and she appeared over Parallax's head. She raised the Sword of Hephaestus and slashed down at its skull.

Puff!

The sword edge effortlessly split the carapace, spraying a large amount of debris. However, that was all. This minor wound was nothing more than a scratch to the massive Parallax. It shook its body, bringing immense power that slammed Diana far away.

Clark and Linda, arriving right behind her, attacked simultaneously. One unleashed a high-temperature heat beam, and the other delivered a massive energy punch.

The mountain-splitting attacks only broke a few barbs. Parallax had tens of thousands of them.

The appearance of the team temporarily eased the crisis. Sinestro frowned slightly, looking coldly in their direction.

Luke caught his breath and flew to his teammates. He looked terrible. Cracks appeared on his shoulder, leg, and chest plates. Only one pair of his four wings remained. Even worse was his energy reserve; the continuous teleportation had consumed nearly seventy percent of his power.

Linda asked anxiously, "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"

Luke shook his head.

"My body is fine. The problem is the armor. I don't think it will last much longer."

Linda and Diana both sighed in relief. It was fine as long as he was okay. The armor was irrelevant; it could be rebuilt.

Luke continued, "This battle is likely to last a long time. You must watch out for Sinestro. His abilities are extremely strange. Do not go near him."
